JQuery :: Getting The Information From Inside Two Html Tags?

So, I doing this bit of code for a pagination, but havingproblemswith my next, and back buttons.So I cam up with the idea to store the current page number in between two <p> tags. So the say the current page is 5, it would be shown in html as <p>5</p>My question is, with using jquery, can i get the 5 from the two p's, ive manage to stick the 5 into the two <p>'s using jquery, the code:$("#current").html(pageNum);with #current being the <p> id and pageNum being the 5.i have triedvar prevNum = $("#current").get(0);for getting the number but didnt work also here the jquery code, incase you want a full scope of what going on

Hi I'm new to the development world and have bumped into a tough problem for myself. I'm attempting to display external RSS feeds on my site using AJAX. The 'title' and 'link' tags from the XML file appear on my page without any problem. However, unlike the 'title' and 'link' tags, some of the 'description' tags contain HTML.
This seems to be an issue when I'm trying to display the content within the description tags. As you can see, I embarrassingly tried enclosing the variable newtext2 in CDATA tags to no avail. Since I do not directly have access to this RSS file (other than asking my friend if I can edit it), is there a way for me to display the HTML content within the 'description' tags strictly via JavaScript?

It appears that .html() is somehow messing up reading the contents of a div.Here is my php code which loads into the div.

Here is what I see as source code after the page renders.

When I test alert() the .html() contents it appears like this. It seems to screw up the quote escape and changes " to " ;="" after the recordchecks().[code]...
So even though the source code looks perfect, if I alert() the div contents with html() it seems to get a bit garbled in the process.

I have some trouble getting some javascript code implemented Its basically because I havent used much it before. Its like this:
When admin chooses to delete a page from his site via this link:

Before this actually gets processed, i would like to alert admin, with a box, asking if he is sure or not, so he gets the option to regret his choise. onClick="(return confirm('Are you sure you want to delete the page?'))" Something like this, probably not correct? How can I implement that tiny bit of JS in my (PHP)link above?

I have some auto-generated code in a similar format to this:

I want to select the line of text ("Text I want to remove" - with no HTML tags around it) and hide it using CSS (or remove it all together, if I can). I have tried using insertAfter to put a start <span> tag at the start of the line, and insertBefore to close the </span> tag at the end of the line (so I can apply CSS display:none; to it), but clearly JQuery doesn't work like that.
Is there another way to get rid of this line of text?

I am putting the finishing touches to a custom written (pHp) article editor to allow users to publish content on a website.I have basically finished the project, and I am putting the finishing touches in with jquery widgets, such as a word counter. I would also like people to be able to highlight a section of text, then have some custom tags wrap the text (much like on this forum when you highlight a word in the message box and hit the wrap button).I would like my own custom tags to be used, such as <span class='someclass'>some entered text</span> rather than predefined ones.

I have a system receiving an html document as an array of lines, an am inserting this into a div using .append().
If an html tag is opened in 1 line (array element) of the string, and not closed within the same line, .append() automatically closes the tag on the same line, though there is already a corresponding close tag later in the html string.
Minimal test code:
$(document).ready(function() {
var testString = [ "<pre>Test line 1
", "line 2
", "line 3</pre>" ];

Is there an append alternative without this behaviour?

I've been programming in jQuery for some time now, and for the first time, I came across an issue where I am writing out the location of a TD with an ID="step" to get the innerHTML with html(). I receive a null value, but when I use td:first within the chain of elements, it works.Has anyone experienced this issue or have any idea why this is not working? I've tried other TDs with diffirent IDs within the same row, and the same null result happens.Is there a possible limitation to the numbe of IDs used within the chaining of the $() call?

I'm recieving an HTML piece from wich I should get all the TD tags, for example, I recieve the following:
<tr>
<td>name</td> <td>surname</td>
</tr>
Then I must look for "<td>[anything]</td>" with a regex and and I build an array containing the text inside the tags, like
tags[0] = "name";
tags[1] = "surname";
So... I did this:

var reg = new RegExp('<td[^>]*>(.*)</td>', 'gim');
var matches = html.match(reg);
The problem is that I'm getting just ONE array element with the value:
"<td>name</td> <td>surname</td>"
instead of two values (on for name and another for surname).I testes a lot of different regex and also some string methods but I cannot make it work

This question may appear opposite of most, but I'm learning JS using a book and I can't understand why/how this particular code works. I'm working on simply retrieving and passing information to and from html forms. This is a very simple script that will change what is selected in the drop down box depending on a button push.

The way I see it is the button onclick will call the flip function and pass it a var, for example "veggiespecial". I understand the code that will perform the actual change on the drop down menu. What I don't understand is the if statement.

Shouldn't it be just (pizzatype == "veggiespecial")?
Why does it have to be pizzatype.value? Where the heck does the .value come from???

Here's what I'm trying to do:
1) I get reference to a div that's on my page:
var theDiv = $("#" + divID);
2) Now I want to add a custom attribute tag to it, so for instance I want to add "winWidth" so that the div object now contains "winWidth=" for instance.
3) I want to set winWidth now since it's part of theDiv to a value
I'm not sure how to really do 1 + 2. I need to do this on the fly because some javascript logic later will add these attributes dynamically to the div... outside of what the original div had...I don't care what it had, I know I have it now in a JS variable and now I want to both add some new attributes to the div, and then set them on the fly. I don't need these attributes to be on my page, I just need them added to my div variable reference.

I am using the ajax method in JQuery to return an XML response from a URL location. The method looks like the following:

OK so if I use repsonseText responseXML or just try and traverse msg it will not work. The problem is the body of my XML response, all of the tags ('<' and '>') are getting escaped to html entities ('<' and '>') So it becomes a malformed XML document that is not readable. I even tried using the Javascript function replace to go through and replace with no luck.
Even stranger if I access the web service through the browser, the XML is just fine!
The server is Windows Server 2008 running IIS 7 and I am programming of course in HTML and newest version of JQuery.
The browser I am testing on is Firefox with FireBug.

I have a HTML form containing two text box controls in it and a submit button. When a user enters information in those two textboxes and click on submit, the information is sent to a function in Javascript. In the javascript, the information from those textboxes is stored in a javascript variable. The problem is as follows:When I am inputting string text in the html text boxes and in the javascript when I am trying to print those values, it is giving me out an error saying NaN. However when i input integer values in the text boxes it is printing those numbers. Is there a conversion that I have to do for the string to be printed. I am new to Javascript and need your help. I am trying to replicate the function that is on this page [URL] - where the links on the right open an external HTML page that activates a dialog window and the whole thing floats above the parent page. I've ripped apart the JS file but it goes beyond my understanding and has references to demo this and demo that - which isn't going to sit well with my existing code. I am trying to see if there is a simpler version of this function that doesn't require 155 lines of JS. I found the JS code to open an HTML page inside a DIV using ht e object ID method but it still acts like an iFrame and my dialog window is trapped inside, not floating above the parent page. I've even tried to use the CSS overflow: visible; but I'm sure there is more to it than that - especially since it didn't help ;) I can't use AJAX or PHP like many of the scripts I found use, so i has to be just like the page I gave as an example.
