I have an iframe loading external page. I want to get the HTML of this iframe onclick-button event. But since the page that is loaded in the iframe is an external page, I get the following error:
FIrefox: Permission denied for <file://> to get property HTMLDocument.getElementById from "External Page Link"
Chrome: Domains, protocols and ports must match.
I'm building a webpage using javascript and iframes. Basically I have an iframe in the middle of the index.html page that links to another html page (let's call it iframe.html). My question is, is it possible to call a javascript function from iframe.html to control an object on index.html? If so, how do I do this? I'd like to be able to assign an image in iframe.html with the hyperlink of href="javascript:function()", where the function effects the CSS of a div on index.html.

First of all, i would like to give you an short overview about the related files:
* insert_media.php (a PHP file, which represents a self-made filebrowser) * article.php (a PHP file, which inherits logic to edit and create articles) ** <textarea id="content"> (the textarea which should accept HTML from "insert_media.php")
I'm using CKEditor for my project and wanted to add a selfmade filebrowser for including media into my articles. Therefore i created a "insert_media.php", which inherits all necessary logic to retrieve media items from a database.
The "insert_media.php" is opened inside "article.php" via TopUp (JS library) in form of a lightbox iframe - for sure "article.php" has jQuery loaded in its header.
Now, when I'm clicking on a media item (inside "insert_media,php"), i want to have the content of my textarea "#content" (inside "article.php") being appended by the necessary HTML code.
I'm able to retrieve the val of #content ("article.php") inside my iFrame ("insert_media.php") via $("#form_content_content", window.parent.document).val(); but i can't manage to have access to it into the other direction.
How do you target a DIV ID inside of the frame?
I want to add the P text to a div with an ID="ContentArea" that is inside the iFrame. code...
but I have moved that DIV inside of an iFrame now and I need to traverse the path to it.

"data" is a string with html content. this works quite good in all browsers but I wonder if there is a better solution.firefox doesn't load the content correctly if the content is too large and doc.close() is called too early.

working on a site that has two iframes that scroll up and down. By selecting the items in the 'display' frame you insert a row into 'register' frame bellow. The 'register' frame bellow 'display' only shows two rows. One the fixed 'header'. The other row[0] as all inserted rows are inserted at [0] index. I had it working fine with the CSS heights written in pixels but when I changed height to % percentages the fixed 'header' covers the row[0] while only ocupying half the 'register' window. I can only see row[1], row[0] is covered by the fixed 'header'. I did not use any cloneing to achieve this with pixel heights in the CSS.

At the moment, if I don't specifically click into the iFrame (it is in
design mode) then when I paste the HTML it attaches itself to the main
document rather than in the iframe 'body'.
My JS function at the moment is simply:

I've painted myself into a corner, and I can't use any server-side solutions.
With some help, I've been working on a script on x.html that searches for a specific "image Y" within "Y.html" (inside an iframe). Then the script replaces the "Image x" url to the url of "image Y".
It drills through a specific div, to a specific span, to find this image Y. I have it this way, because it's a pre-built content management system that hasn't given me the ability to show the image on another page. I need to do this several times on one html file, so I'm running into huge load times, and there seem to be numerous clashes with servers and locking up. So I'm hoping there's a way to just avoid iframes and achieve the same result.

how to adjust the iframe height by itself if my html height increases. My html code includes a facebook comment at the bottom of my page and the comment will show making it expand the height once users post comments. I'd like to resize an iframe into which different (same domain) pages of differing heights are loaded. I can do a first-time resize no problem. It's the subsequent reloads that need to pass back their height to the parent page There seem to be lots of solutions for that around, but few I can see for resizing each time the iframe reloads.
