Iframe Resizing Each Time New Page Loads In Iframe
Aug 14, 2009
I'd like to resize an iframe into which different (same domain) pages of differing heights are loaded. I can do a first-time resize no problem. It's the subsequent reloads that need to pass back their height to the parent page There seem to be lots of solutions for that around, but few I can see for resizing each time the iframe reloads. One is described here on another board [URL] but unfortunately the test page is no longer around (or indeed the site), so the full code is no longer available there. This one works, almost, for me: [URL] it does resize for me, but not quite sufficiently high each time - about 90% of what is required: [URL] Is there a way to add on sufficient extra margin that scrollbars no longer appear?
I am displaying a webpage from external domain in an iframe on my site. The webpage being shown in iframe has a header image that I would like to not appear when someone visits my site. Is it possible using Javascript or otherwise to have the iframe scrolled down by a certain pixels by default?
I have a page and there is a 3rd party response that comes in that I have to key off of. IF the third party response exists, then I need to build the iframe and populate it with a src and attributes (height/width) etc...
So basically, the flow is like this..
page loads callback to 3rd party. --> is third party connected = yes --> build iframe (in parent page) ---> is third party connected = no --> do nothing
I have a use case in which I need to insert an IFrame as a child to an existing DIV just after the page load completes. That is, the request to fetch content for this Iframe should go to the server "after" all the media in the page has loaded, basically after the page "load" event and not the document ready event.My document structure is as follows:
the code above gets called every time a new page is loaded inside the iframe (ifrmDisplay) what its doing is resizing the iframe so it can have the same size as the page inside it, so i can eliminate the need for vertical scroller for the iframe, i assumed that it works on opera and IE at the same time, when i tried it out, it worked on IE but not on opera. after lot of time in researching how i can get workaround this issue with opera, that is the best possible solution i have and yet it doesnt work. so i gave up and asking you if you can help me out here , coz this is jst driving me crazy!
the problem is im not a javascript expert, to be honest i jst started doing javascripts about two days ago, that is why im in need for help
by the way, here is inner html for the iframe if its any use

i am trying to resize an iframe which is not in same domain.I tried couple of ways as below: iam loading an html which is in other domain.I kept this syntax in script
function toBeCalledOnChildHTMLLoad() { parent.document.getElementById("ifameId").height = calculatedHeight; }
Still it is not working..Please suggest if u have any solutions on this.
Its my first in this community and I hope someone can help me on this one. Im currently working on the personalization of the layout of SAP ERP Portal. This Portal Framework uses Iframes to display the current page and/or applications on the Current Page.Here is a custom draw of a page
---- Custom Componentes Like Menus etc
----- Iframe (InnerPage) Shows the Current Page
--------This Page can have embedded content and/or More Iframes with Applications
All the Iframes are on the same domain but I only have acess to the innerPage Code and not to the iframes that have the applications.Now we want the innerpage to automatic resize to the current content. This is being a problem (even after using jQuery Plugins or Resize Scripts) because:
1)The Iframes that have the applications change content height using Ajax/DHTML (not triggering load event) and this resize scripts wont call the resize mechanism.
2)I dont have access to the applications source
3)On some tests ive made using Scripts ( for example Auto Height Jquery, SSI Dynamic Drive )some iframes display the same clientHeight and ScrollHeight Even if theres a scrollbar in the browser window.
I have a mysql database with a bunch of quotations in it. I created a blog at http:[url]....At the top of the blog is an iframe window that directs to http:[url]....On that page it uses php to pull out a random quote from the database. The iframe window displays that quote onto the blog.It works great except that the height is not automatically resizing.Is there a way I can use javascript to do this instead? Here is some pseudo-code of what I'd like to be able to do: (p.s. I do not know javascript or much of anything so I am looking for people to tell me how to ACTUALLY do this)
var stringvariable = http://aro2220.com/blog/index.html;
Having a problem with iframe resizing when the iframe body is a jsp file which contains a dynamically built ajax table. Users select different options from a drop down. All but 1 is a standard static jsp file. The other is a jsp file with a dynamic ajax table which is generated the second the user select this option from the drop down. Problem is the javascript is not getting the correct height for the dynamically ajaxed jsp file.
Here is the iframe which is loading the contents file. <iframe id="Editor" name="Editor" src="" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" onLoad="resizeIframeToFitContent(this)"></iframe> Resize call: function resizeIframeToFitContent(iframe) { iframe.height = Editor.document.body.scrollHeight + 300; iframe.width = Editor.document.body.scrollWidth; } // resizeIframeToFitContent
As a current workaround I am adding 300 manually to the height this works but throws the height of the normal jsp files well out and makes the page to tall.
I was wondering if there any examples out there that create a Draggable ifram that display another URL in it. In this iFRAME before loading the URL it will display a progress bar once the url has loaded the progress bar will disappear.
Using an the FreeTextBox control inside an IFRAME never completes loading - and as I have some actions to perform once its finished loading this is a real problem.
When I step through it in Firebug it seems to step OK - but it stays loading for as long as I have been able to leave it. I have no idea why that document.open() line is causing such a problem.
For now I've made these lines conditional to IE as it doesn't seem have a noticable effect on the operation in Firefox. I would love a fix to this if anyone has one - support at the FreeTextBox site is a bit on the sparse side.
1. Make ajax request (via getHTTPObject(), no libraries is used)
2. Create an iframe with script, src is "blank.html".
3. use iframe.document.write() to execute scripts (inkluding document.write based scripts) in the iframe.
4. call parent window's document to clone the iframe content.
5. Append the content clone to parent body.
Works like a charm in all browsers but IE, where every version - including IE9 beta - hangs on iframeWindow.document.close() with empty cache, leaving the window/tab unresponsible. When I force quit, restart and load the page again (now in cache) it works.What I've tried already:
* Googled.
* called the ajax request callback manually with string instead of request.responseText - it works even with empty cache here.Removed document.close() - resulting in scripts in iframe not executing at all (again, only with empty cache, cached pages works fine).
* Tested to make the ajax request synchronous - no difference.
Console.log trace:
Code: append() begin unlimited-scroll.js:160 install() begin unlimited-scroll.js:194 iframe begin[code].....
I have a web page which will display another web page in an iframe. But the content inside the iframe may change while the user interacts with it so I need to be able to resize the iframe height from code on the page inside the iframe. Any tips on how I can do that? I am using php and javascript.
I am using this code to refresh the browser after a iframe has finished loading. Does anyone know a cross-browser one that will work on all browsers. I have tested it on firefox and internet explorer, it seems to only work on firefox.
Is there any way to resize an iframe dynamically to the height of its content that works cross browser and works when the iframe content is on another domain than the main page (I have access to both pages, so code can be put in either) Also, it must resize when links in the iframe are clicked (ie when a new page within the iframe is loaded)
I found a javascript code online which automatically resizes an IFRAME based on the content loaded into it.
[Code]...
As you can see, the IFRAME I am resizing automatically is called "star_content" - This frame exists on a page with a set of links below it, which determine what content is to be loaded into it. The content being loaded into it is Daily, Monthly and Yearly horoscopes. The longest being the Yearly one. Now when I click the yearly one, the iframe extends as expected... but if I go from the yearly one back to the Daily or Monthly one, it doesn't shrink again so I end up with a huge gap. I can't show you the page itself because it's a closed site, still in development and I am under a non disclosure contract. However, here is the IFRAME HTML.
[Code]....
So to sumarise, what I want to do is have the iframe automatically resize to fit the content that has been loaded within it. It's doing that when it needs to extend the height of the frame but it's not then reducing the height when it goes back to something smaller.
I am new to jQuery and have managed to create a tabbed interface with 4 sections. When the page loads, the tab content of section 1 shows up and the user can click on the others links to show other sections. In other words, tab 1 is always the first to be "active." However, I want to have a random "active" tab every time the page loads, so that other sections can be "active" as well randomly. Once the page loads with the random active tab, then the user can click to look at other sections.
I have done the hide/show divs using javascript.Its working fine but the problem is that at the time of page loading the hidden divs are showing first anf then disappearing.Is there any way not to show the hidden elements even if the page loads for first time
I'm using some jQuery to work with the Last.FM API, and I'm stuck where I need to allow the user to run the JSON request a second time after the page loads (it loads once automatically when the page loads, the second time is when they push a button). What happens currently, is the JSON function is fed some default data when the page loads:
You might have noticed in the JSON, I write the URL the JSON is requesting to the console every time it runs. When I click this button, a new URL pops up in the console below the first one but only for a second, and then the page reloads and the original JSON request is called. It's this loop that I can't seem to break out of - why does re-calling the JSON refresh the page?
When the page loads for the first time or after refresh the text within the scroller is black for a brief time and then it turns to white. I have tried changing the values but can't get it to start with white text?
The other thing is I would like to be able to have a hypertext link within the text but I tried using the normal <a href> tags but this doesn't work. Can you see a way of doing this? Code:
I have a website with a floating cart and it loads fine and works almost flawlessly . However, when a person has a bunch of items in their cart, and they want to minimize it for the rest of their browsing experience, every time a new page loads, or a refresh happens, the floating cart un-minimizes and expands out fully again displaying all the items.
This can become very annoying during the shopping experience when you have a bunch of items loading and just taking up space in the browser. Therefore, I am wondering if their is some html or script that would save the minimizing in the floating cart, and carry it over to the next page, and the rest of the browsing on site?
