How can I access the HTML from a page in an IFRAME? I've tried this but it didn't work, when I clicked the button, 'undefined' came up in the DIV. Here's my function
PHP Code:
function loadPage ( file ) { document.getElementById('iframe').src = file; document.getElementById('td').innerHTML = document.getElementById('iframe').document.innerHTML;}
and here is the DIV and IFRAME
Code:
<div id='td' class='body'>
<input id='file' type='text' /><br />
<input id='button' type='button' value='Load' onClick="loadPage(document.getElementById('file').value)" />
</div><br />
<iframe id='iframe'></iframe>

I have been trying to insert xml into an iframe. I can do it kinda. The problem is the iframe has <html></html> tags and if the xml has items that look like <head> tags like <title> etc they end up in the head. For example I have a atom file that looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<feed version="0.3" xmlns="http://purl.org/atom/ns#">
<title>Gmail - Inbox for bartonphillips@gmail.com</title>
<tagline>New messages in your Gmail Inbox</tagline>

I have a use case in which I need to insert an IFrame as a child to an existing DIV just after the page load completes. That is, the request to fetch content for this Iframe should go to the server "after" all the media in the page has loaded, basically after the page "load" event and not the document ready event.My document structure is as follows:

I currently have a website with a number of menu items, many of which result in the main site being redisplayed but with an iframe being inserted somewhere within the middle of the page. The iframe is initially loaded as hidden but there is a JavaScript 'onload' routine which calculates the height of the iframe and then makes it visible in order to avoid the iframe showing scrollbars since the content of the iframe is variable.
Roughly, things look like this:
Menu button: reloads main page and passes one or more parameters, e.g. [url]
Then elements of the main page including the menu are displayed. Then, if specified by the relevant 'func' parameter the iframe is shown using code similar to the following:
This works fine but I was wondering whether there is any way of using jQuery such that I don't have to reload the page when the menu item is clicked. In other words, you'd click on the menu item and the relevant iframe would be inserted within the middle of the website, automatically sized.

I just started to learn jquery. The sitepoint book I picked up and my online research did not yield any results for what I am trying to do.
Basically I have a ul with li in it. I have the ul's width set so that only 4 LI's are displayed in one row and then the next set of 4 gets displayed in next row, etc.
Can I use jquery to simply say 'after each set of 4 li, insert a graphic' .. or insert some html code.
I want a graphical separator between sets of <li>'s

I'm working on a navigation menu where I want to insert some html after a UL element.
Here's the statement:
selUL.eq(x+1).after('<b>hello</b></div><div class="subMenu">');
I'm trying to insert it after the following <ul> element:
<div class="subMenu">
<ul
[Code]...
It's like it's trying to auto correct me. I need it to print everything exactly as I have it, otherwise my navigation won't divide into separate columns. Anyone have an idea why it's doing this? If I remove the <div> elements and just use the <b> element it works fine.
EDIT: After some more testing, the After method seems to strip out any closing elements not yet opened (</div>) and automatically closes any elements opened but not closed (<div class="subMenu">). Anyone know of a way to stop this from happening?

I stumbled upon something which may be by design in jQuery for security reasons, it may be the browsers doing it, but... I found that any JavaScript I try to put into the html of an object is ignored. For example, say username is a variable that was already defined with the user's name:
$("#test").html("Hi there <script type='text/
javascript'>document.write(username);</script>.
");
All the script is just stripped out, in both IE and Firefox.

I am using $().html to manipulate DOM elements, as an example:
jQuery('#basic).html(..some data...);
I then alter the DOM using a div and id as part of the HTML document. For example.
<div id='basic>change this</div>
This is absolutely fine when manipulating simple things (like numbers or text such as the above) - but when I wish to manipulate a specific attribute of an element wrapped within a div
<div id=basic>
<a href="I-want-to-alter-just-this-attribute">Link</a>
</div>
How do I do this?
I can't nest the div within the a element :(
At the moment I am using $().html to insert the entire element and its attribute list, but this is very cumbersome,inelegantand fault prone (and doesn't seem to work well using JSON).
I can't seem to find a method to Modify Attribute !!

I am not sure - I made ajax call through jquery form plugin, return response is HTML fragments, and inserted to a <div> place holder, work as expected.However, previous HTML segments have binding events (such as click) seems lost after the insertion ... is this expected behavior? and what are the proper way to re-instate those events?

I am needing to build a contact form in an iframe that will change the email address the content will go to depending on the id clicked from another page. So far I am using a switch statement to choose email address based on the id clicked.
var artist
function Artist_switch(selectName) {
switch(selectName.value) {
case "p_01":
artist = xxx@xxx.com
break
case "p_02":
artist = xxx@xxx.com
break
case "p_03":
artist = xxx@xxx.com
break
case "p_04":
artist = xxx@xxx.com
break
case "p_05":
artist = xxx@xxx.com
break
}
My contact field looks like this:
<label><img src="/photo_site/artist_name.png" alt="Artist name" height="30" class="bright"/><br/></label><input type="text" class="input" name="artist_name" size="30" disabled="disabled" value="artist"/><br/>
The button on the other page:
<img src="contact.png" name="p_01"/>
How to set this up more properly?

I have this javascript
Code:
function frameURL() {
var address = document.getElementById("address");
var iframe = document.getElementById("iframe");
var frame = iframe.src;
address.value = frame;
}
HTML Code:
<input type="text" size="100%" id="address" />
<iframe src="" id="iframe" width="100%" height="100%" scrolling="auto" onload="frameURL()" ></iframe>
Basically this is just like a web browser you type into the text input box and it changes the iframe src I have all that working but I want it so that when you click on a link in the frame the address box to automatically change to the new url. I thought the code above would do it but it doesn't.

Although I have done a fair bit of html coding after taking several HTML courses, I have never become involved in JavaScript beyond adding the occasional pre-made script for a particular function.
Which is what I am trying to do at the moment. I want to insert a slide show into a page and have tried 2 scripts from Java Kit Scripts. Both are similar and I am having the same problem with both.
The problem: Inserting the image path. They both ask for the image path (naturally) and give the following examples:
Example 1:
Example 2:
But there is no reference to an "image" folder. I have tried inserting the folder name: "images/iss-bunker-1tn.jpg",
I have also tried leaving the word "images" out and also tried saving the related images in the same folder as the html coded pages. I have also tried using "shtml" pages. But nothing seems to work.

HTML Code:
<html>
<iframe src="A.html"></iframe>
<iframe src="B.html"></iframe>
<iframe src="C.html"></iframe>
</html>
if I run the javascript from B.html then I should get the iframe position as 2. same way, if I run the javascript from C.html then I should get the iframe position as 3.

I am trying to add some HTML into a <p> element by using an AJAX request that gets a txt file with my HTML in it. That code works fine but the problem I get is that I need to enter in the path to the file dynamically. I guess I could use PHP on the server for this but I am not sure how (im not too good with PHP yet, but it is installed on my server). C# would work too as I have .NET configured as well (but again I dont know it very well).[code]I would like to replace the "linkHere" with the file path attribute I am grabbing from an XML file.I am doing that like this:$(this).attr('filePath').substr(3).replace("\","/")+$ 9this).attr('label');this works fine to make the path correctly but I need a way to inject this into the HTML/txt file to replace the "linkHere".I have an <img>with an onclick event that calls a function I made to do all this.

I'm currently using this bit of code which submits some form values to a php script which then returns the results into the target html as specified.
Code:
$("#ajax_totals").load("shop/calculate_order_cost", $("#shop_form").serializeArray());
However what i'd like to do is submit the form items using serializeArray but then return multiple items from the php script and insert them in multiple places on the page, not just in the form itself.
I know i could simply use that line of code 4 times over with 4 different html targets but i don't feel it is very efficient or DRY. So i'd like to know the best way to submit multiple values to a php script, return multiple responses and use those responses in multiple places in the html.

i guess this isn't really jQuery specific rather than it is a global JS-thing, but I tried general solutions for this and they all did not work so I figured this might be because I'm trying to do this with the $ function.
What I wanna do is this: I have a document with an iFrame. From inside that iFrame I wanna call the $-function of the original (parent) document. I tried so many things like
parent.$
top.$
window.parent / top.$
the stuff above with .document.$
and other stuff but none of that works. So, how do you call $ of the real document from inside an iFrame?

I have an iframe and I load a html page with jquery code.I have 2 checkboxes and I have 2 div in this iframe. That way when someone checks the check boxes it will appentTo html code into the div.I was not able to run any code or get them working. So I just wanted to test if I can do it. So I wrote basic code which is this:[code]
I tried that code above. I won't work. It was to detect if the input check box named hosting_Service is checked. If it is checked then it will have a popup window with a message saying ok.I put this code it and tried it. Nothing happens when I click the check box.

I am stuck with an issue of getting my modal to pop up and out of theiframe and show on top of the parent page. I am using the jqModal andyou seem to have answers for everything but this...I have a parent page, that i can not edit, with an iframe thatcontains the logic for the modal. When the the modal is triggered, itonly shows inside of the iframe and i cant seem to get it to pop upover the parent window.This is the ultimate objective:OnLoad of the parent page, if something=true to pop up the modal fromwithin the iframe to show over the parent.I can get it to do everything that i need it to do BUT pop up outsideof the iframe....idk... i think i am just running in circles at thispoint....SO here is the simplified code that is nested inside of the parentiframe.... it loads the modal onLoad of the page, but its inside the
iframe...
