JQuery :: Firefox - Send Some Data To The Server And Put The Resulting HTML In A Div

I built a pretty simple Ajax request which needs to send some data to the server and put the resulting HTML in a div. Unforunately, I need to POST the data. I used .post() and it worked fine ... *on Chrome and Opera!* ... on Firefox no data gets posted even though firebug shows the data in it's console. I ended up building the longest possible request, just to try all the options. No luck. As soon as I POST anything, Firefox won't receive the data. If this was a Firefox issue, wouldn't I read about it everywhere? What's wrong?

I know that Javascript is client side, but I'd like to know the best way to populate HTML drop downs in real time based on information typed in the other HTML form fields with information found on the server as opposed to the client.For instance if a user wants to select certain files located in a directory on the server, as they type in the pathname supposedly containing the files the drop downs continually refresh themselves with the server files listed in that directory (if it exists, and apache has permissions to see what's inside) as if it was showing client files instead.
What would be nice is if my browser could continually query the server for some of its private information and not have to refresh itself to obtain it, whether that means the server-side would have to continually refresh itself makes no difference to me as long as the client-side doesn't have to. But I guess this is not possible because no matter what you would have to at least refresh the client-side page once?Submitting the form to a CGI or PHP script would not work because I need this functionality to help populate the form BEFORE I send it.I would like to not have to press a button to update the form every time I change the pathname and need to update the drop downs since this would be annoying.

I am using jquery to send an ajax request from my facebook app which is in iframe to my server. The ajax request works fine when the web app is running stand alone and out of facebook platform, but within facebook, the result that I get from my ajax request is blank !!! Here is the code I use:

I want to send three text box values to server using jquery ajax. problem is that, i dont know the exact syntax to send three data. When i try sending one data(also change no.of parameters to one at server side method), its going good but when i try to send three text box values, its giving jquery error:"Internal server error". What is the best way to get the client time to the server? Would I user http headers? (I dont know how to do that) or is ajax the best method? I could use ajax to send the unix timestamp to the server everytime a page loads and save the difference between it and the server timestamp as a session variable. sounds sensible?
I dont want to work with timezones but I do want to get the actual time set on the client's computer.

I would like to open an html file locally (not fetch it from a server) and somehow use javascript to fetch the relative resources from the server. One solution would be to convert all of the relative links to absolute links. I can convert the html source file anyway I wish, but ideally I would like to modify the html source as little as possible, for example insert a function that modifies the result of the src attribute. How would I go about this? Is there any trick I can use to define where the relative home is? Am I going to get into any scripting security gotchas?

could i send that to the server passing it as 1 variable like so:

or would i have to break it down into something like this:

I would like to send my form data to a php file but not to get any response. I want to send an ID so that PHP can do MySQL search and generate a PDF file. Problem seems to be that PHP is responding something back to HTML and that is messing my code. So I just want to send the data and run the scripit in PHP so that nothing is returned back to HTML.

The script below works, but only returns one headline/url from the html list.I am coming from a procedural background and know there must be a better way to pass all the urls and headlines (the link text) to my PHP script, which populates my database, but even after reading 'Jquery in Action' I am flummoxed.how to attack this problem? The .each portion of my script does not seem to work as I expect it to. I have also tried append, which would seem to be a solution ... really all I need is the "which" value from the url, so passing a simple array of those values to PHP would suffice.

I mean, if the server sends the whole page in HTTP then the user wants to log in, he would not be able to send it in HTTPS, unless the server sends the login page to the user in HTTPS. where someData is a vanilla object of key/value pairs, submissionUrl is a valid URL and ajaxSuccess/ajaxError are both functions.Using jQuery 1.5.1, the GET request is delivered to the server without the data. Using jQuery 1.4.4, the request contains the data.Has something changed in the way I should be assigning data to an ajax request in 1.5.1? The docs don't seem to suggest I'm doing anything incorrectly.

I have a web service that accepts application/json but returns HTML to place in a DIV. I am not having any luck configuring the .ajax call so that it both POSTs in a format accepted by the web service and does not attempt to validate the HTML response as JSON.

It would seem that I cannot have anything other than 'json' in the dataType, even though from the docs it appears that this only affects the interpretation of the response, changing it's value to 'html' causes the web service to reject the call. I've also tried a converter but perhaps I'm not using it properly. Is it possible to use jquery to post JSON and get back HTML? What configurations am I missing?
