JQuery :: Find Multiple Object Types?
Jul 28, 2010
Can I find multiple objects in one call? For example, I have ahold of a TD object that has in it input and select objects. I want to addClass to both the input and select objects therein? Something like ".find('input || select')"? Otherwise I guess I could just do multiple calls similar to:
//First find all of the required elements indicated by the red *
$(
"span[class=redEmphasis]").each(
[code]....

How can I use jQuery to submit multiple forms with different types, values, and actions? For example:
Code:
<form name="form1" method="get" action="submit1.php">
<input name="value1" type="text" value="">
</form>[code]....
Can I start the jQuery process from within a function when clicking on the submit button?

function aa() {};
var bb = new aa();
var dd = new function cc() {};
aa.prototype.rr = 100;
cc.prototype.rr = 100;
---------------------------------------------------------------
i wrote the code above that makes two functions and two object for
those.
bb(object)<-aa(function),
cc(object)<-dd(function).
i think it's all the same way to make an object for a function.
but if u try to debug,
bb object has rr right after "aa.prototype.rr = 100" statement
but cc deosn't have rr variable.
can anyone explain it why?

JavaScript hides its memory structure.
I know that numbers, booleans, null and undefined are value types
(value is directed saved in a variable).
I want to know:
- How JavaScript distinguishes value types from reference types by
seeing the variable content?
- How many bytes are allocated in memory when I declare the following?
var i;
I can program in JavaScript without understanding them.
But I'm curious.

So I have a function, and in that function there are two paramaters: index and newLocation. Each of these parameters can initially either be an integer or a string: The string can only be the values of "first" or "last". I can do a long set of code for both parameters, but I was wondering if there was a way to iterate through the parameters to make the code more compact and reusable.
if(parseInt(index, 10) == "NaN")
{
if(index == "first")
{
//The first index of the array
index = 0;

I have a table that looks something like this:
<tr id="1">
<td>Name</td>
<td>E-Mail</td>
[code]....
With multiple rows. Each row has a unique ID (numerical). I need to be able to click on an a.accept, find WHICH one was clicked (which row it is in), and get the ID of that row. I've been looking around and I found parent(), but I'm not sure how I can specifically get which accept link was clicked.

I have multiple select boxes on 1 page, I need to get the text of the select boxes(which is the qty of an item) and the value of the selectboxes (the price of the item) and the item description which is in a span tag with a class descriptionColor,
and when someone chooses something from the first select box and sth from the second and so on,I need to add the item name, quantity and total price of each item to hidden fields.
so the hidden field would include: for name:qty of item 1 + item1 name,qty of item2 + item2 name ... for price:total price of all items.
<td><span class="descriptions"><span class="descriptionsColor">MIXED SALAD</span></span></td>
<td> </td>
<td class="body">

I have been using JQuery in the past 6 months and I really got in love with it!Finally,I've come to an issue that (probably) have better solution than the one Im trying to do with.I have multiple tables in a HTML [code]all of these tables are some kind of gridviews filled with data using JSon and JQuery.The problem is:Before filling with data, only this part in the DOM is created <table id="myTableId"> <tbody> !so, before going forward with filling the table with data and creating <tr>'s and <td>'s, I would like to find the current (not filled one) table ID.The algorithm would be:
1. <table id="mytableId"> is generated
2. right after #1, find table ID.
3. Depending of the table ID, generated data accordingly. (Continue with creating tr's and td's)
I have tried using closest('table'), also using find(), parent(), parents() and some other methods with which I've been working previously, but still no success.I can find the table by uing var tId = $(TABLE['id*='myTable']").attr('id');, but this finds all tables with 'myTable' and I want to find only the one that is created at that moment and waits for filling with data.

In my form, the user can check only one option: either
* ship to default address
* ship to new address
Both options are radio buttons. They both have the same instance name, but different ids. That way the user is forced to choose either one or the other.
My problem is that since both radio buttons have the same instance name, then I cannot get the value of the instance with JavaScript.
<input name="shipchoice" id="shipchoice1" type="radio" class="style1" value="default" checked>.
<input name="shipchoice" id="shipchoice2" type="radio" class="style1" value="new">
Can you see the problem? If I give them both different instance names, then I can get the value of "shipchoice" with:
var cosa;
cosa=document.myForm.shipchoice.value;
but of course if there are two "shipchoice" instances, then I CANNOT access the shipchoice variable....it comes up "undefined".

Since IE 6 doesn't recognize type selectors in css (input[type=xxx] {}) I'm adding classes to elements dynamically so I have handles for the different types of <input/> elements.Here's what I'm using, but it feels sloppy (maybe not the most efficient approach?). Is there a better/less verbose/more efficient way to do this?
$('input')
.filter('[type=text]').addClass('input_text').end()
.filter('[type=radio]').addClass('input_radio').end()
[code]....

I have a form that has a bunch of text inputs, and I would like to select all that don't already have a class "errorClass" assigned to them. My JQuery currently is:
$('input[type="text"]').addClass("idleField");
But that adds the class "idleField" to ALL text fields, overriding the ones that already had the class "errorClass" assigned to it. What is the proper syntax to add the "idleField" class to all text inputs that don't have the "errorClass" assigned?

I'm making a quick and dirty Google Calendar displayer with help from Full Calendar and am struggling to display the details of each Google event correctly. As you may know, if you're not logged into Google Calendar, if you're given an event link or invitation you will be taken to a dynamically generated page displaying the basic details of that event. It includes a <link> ed stylesheet and inline style="..." for each element. I have attached a screenshot of a typical event page.
I'm trying to strip out all the style and just display the content:
eventClick: function(event) {
if (event.url) {
$("#details").hide().load(event.url);
$("#details *").each(function(){

I'm just starting to try out "Ajax" web programming and I've got a question.
AJAX is fairly straightforward. Javascript creates an XMLHttp object and
then uses that to generate a hidden webpage with your results.
What I'd like to know is, how can I retrieve multiple values from an XMLHttp
request?For example, if my request generated an SQL query that returned a
Name, Address and PhoneNumber, could I get those values directly instead of
parsing them out of the ResponseText?
This is my current handler:
function showResult(pge) {
var url="getResult.asp?sid=" + Math.random() + "&q=" + pge
xmlHttp=GetXmlHttpObject(stateChanged)
xmlHttp.open("GET", url , true)
xmlHttp.send(null)
}
function stateChanged() {
if (xmlHttp.readyState==4 || xmlHttp.readyState=="complete") {
//Complete, so show results.
document.getElementById("myResult").innerHTML=xmlHttp.responseText;
//How to get mulitple values here?
}
}

I want all the childElements under someDivID that are "a href" types...I am using prototype: I figured the following would work, but didn't.
$('someDivID').childElements.getElementByTagName('a')
