JQuery :: Delay On Mouseover Before Appearing?
Jun 6, 2011
I want to #name to wait 1 second on the mouseover before appearing, how can I do this?
<script>
$("#block").mouseover(function () {
$("#name").show();
});
$("#block").mouseleave(function() {
$("#name").hide();
});
</script>

I've been using this little bit of code to show a div when the user rolls over a link:
$('a#eventspopupbtn').mouseover(function() {$('#menu').hide('fast'); $('#eventspopup').show('fast');
return false;
});
I have been trying to extend this bit of code so that there is a short delay built inso that if the user rolls over the link by mistake or 'just passing through' the div is not displayed. I tried using setTimeout but couldn't get that working (unfortunately, I can't share that with you because I lost the code).

I am building some video player controls and when I mouse over/out the volume icon, I want the volume slider to appear and disappear. On the mouseout, I want it delayed so what I did was this:
$("#mutebtn").mouseover(
function() {
$("#slider").fadeTo("fast",1);
});
$("#mutebtn").mouseout(
function(){
$("#slider").fadeTo("fast",0).delay(2000);
});
It delays but it puts the delay on the mouseover. So naturally I put the delay on the mouseover and then the delay was on the mouseout which is the correct behavior.

I'm working on a self-contained educational tool. Every "frame" or "slide" is all in one HTML document. I initially start out with all frames hidden, and then show the very first one. The user is then able to click through to each next frame.
This has been working great. Works in all browsers except for IE 7 and 8. There is one point when you click to go to the next section, and all the images and buttons appear at once, even though their respective parents are hidden.
The kicker is that, if in IE's developer tools, I switch off ANY css style for ANY element, everything corrects itself. These elements also seem to ignore any .hide() or .fadeOut() method, but will accept other styling changes through jQuery.

What trying to achieve is to have a div which when you mouseover a div and h4 within will change properties.This is working but when you mouseover the div and pass over either the border of the containing div or the h4 text the animate/fadeTo repeat again. Is someone able to tell what Im doing wrong? Also you may notice the function is effecting more than one container div at a time which is not what Im going for.
Is there a way to seperate them like this or somehow?

I have this in my jQuery() function:
$( "#admin_new_records ul a" ).live( "tap", function() {
jQT.goTo( "#admin_new_records" );
return false;
});
I create the links that match this on the fly with jquery.builder.js, and have confirmed that searching the resultant DOM in the console with the string "#admin_new_records ul a" does indeed return the elements I want. The problem is that when I click on the links, the jqt framework still seems to handle the tap, and returns to the first screen with an error due to the fact that it cannot recognise the url I created for the links. The issue seems to be that live does not work, but I have also tried to set this on tap() immediately after creating and appending the links, and this does not work, either.

In the Portfolio Module of Business Catalyst (see this page: Portfolio, I have the thumbnail of the websites and when clicked it enlarges with the description underneath. However, I would like the description to actually be a link that when clicked will take the visitor to the actual website depicted in the image. I tried to surround the text with the <a href> tag, but the code actually appears on the page.

I created a simple image slider with ul. on clicking the next button the animation that occurs is following:
var currentIndex=0;
$('#next').click(function() {
if
(currentIndex != positions.length - 1){ //positions is an array
[Code]....
So there's nothing fancy here. Just a animate method. Animation is very smooth in firefox but is very very jerky in chrome!! I tried enabling GPU acceleration in chrome but no use.

I suspect I am not the first person to run up against this problem, so I am hoping there's a nice simple fix out there for it.
I have an old suckerfish style dropdown done with CSS and a touch of javascript and I'm adding a set of jquery tabbed content to the page. Unfortunately, the tabs are showing up infront of the dropdown block. (see attached screencap)
How do I control either the tabs or the dropdown to get the ordering right?

I have links that, when clicked, open up a larger image. If the link has the class of "sold selected" then a semitransparent "sold" image should dynamically load as well. What I'm noticing is that it seems to appear on every other click, and I don't know why.
I've created experimental files so as not to disrupt the functioning site. [URL]
I added the variable "linkClass" on line 18; value assigned on line 53 as part of the linker.click anonymous function IF statement on lines 106-108 at bottom
I also have an alert on line 105 just to prove to myself that linkClass was appropriately setting (it is). Images 4-12 should all have the "sold" banner attached, but no matter which of those I click first, the clicking previous/next makes the banner appear/disappear.

I'm currently following this tutorial on loading pages with Ajax:[url]...
For some reason when a new page is loaded via Ajax by clicking a link on the left-hand navigation, the new content returned has a large gap that appears on its left-hand side. My question is what's causing this and how can it be fixed?There's not much in the source, so reading the code shouldn't be difficult.

is there a way using .htaccess or some other means that we can block certain websites from appearing when we do a google search of my wife's name? We contacted google and they denied our request to have these websites blocked. My wife has her own website she uses for her business. There was an .htaccess editor website that I visited that created the code after I specified the url of the websites we wanted blocked. Will this work and if so, after creating the .htaccess file what do I do with it, that is where do I attach it/post it? (this is the first time i've ever posted anything on a website. my wife and I are technophobes.)

I've tested across IE7,Firefox, Chrome, Safari and the only browser I experience this issue in is Opera. I have 3 icons at the bottom of the page (facebook, rainbow, charity logo) and on mouseover the whole site expands downwards (it's not supposed to do that). I've googled for reasons why it would do this but have found none. [URL]...

Looks really nice, but when you load the page on IE, it keeps displaying theactive-x warning, requesting permission to allow. My concern is that a lot of people dont understand this message. Automatically think there is something dangerous about the site, and deter them from visting. And they will not be able to navigate round the site effectively without the drop down menu!I'd imagine there has to be a way, possibly with a certain metatag maybe?
Reason being, GMail is designed using javascript. How come IE allows their javascripts to work, but no one elses?!Must be a way.And also, I use a .js file to keep the site resized and well positioned, regardless of browser. This script gets by no worries at all. Could it be because it is an external javascript, and not linked in within the html itself?And with other broswers, ie. Netscape, Firefox etc. Do any of them have issues with the Javascript / active-x warning?

[URL] Naturally it's an IE6 problem. The dropdown menu at the top behaves fine on every page except the homepage. The homepage has a uses jQuery and a Stepcarousel script. It secondary nav is appearing behind the #maincontent div. I've tried adjusting the z-index to 10000. No result. I scanned both js files to see if there was a z-index conflict. The largest z-index is 50.

I am trying to have my print button appear only once the script for my validation button has gone through without any errors. To do this, I used the following script in my validation button (I've truncated most of it since you get the point after two lines):
// hidden field
var lrcf = this.getField("LastRCFalse");
var ei = this.getField("Employee ID number");
if ( lrcf.value != ""){
[code]....
The red part is where it all seems to be breaking apart. I've verified that none of the script before is incorrect and it all goes smoothly except that my print button does not appear afterwards. (The print button doesn't have any complicated script just a "execute a menu item" and is put as hidden in common properties so that no one can print before having gone through the verification).Should I have created another print button which sits on top of the other one?

I used AJAX in this link code...
You have to go open the navigation box on the top left (sorry I have to simplify this in the future!) and then click the third link Compare Two Bible Texts. Once you enter a word in the first textarea and select the book, chapter, and verse it doesn't record it in the textbox underneath the verse dropdown select.
Anything wrong with this AJAX code?code...

After much work, I've come up with some Javascript/DOM that almost works :)
function setblocktitle(id, text)
{
document.getElementById(id).firstChild.nodeValue = text;
}
With my HTML being:
<div id="hits" class="modules">
<h2>Hits</h2>
<div class="blah">
...
The problem is, when calling setblocktitle with setblocktitle("hits", "Totals"); I end up with the attached image rather than "Hits" being replaced by "Totals".
