JQuery :: Bizarre Behavior Caused By $('.classname').change() On Multiple <select>
Dec 15, 2010
I have a series of paired <select> objects. By paired I mean the <option> values of one is dependent on the state of the other via an ajax call. Something like:
[Cdoe]..
Here's where the bizarre behavior happens. If I trigger a change event for "primary" classes, i.e. $('.primary').change(), only the LAST "secondary" gets changed. For the list above only $('#number_six') would be dynamically filled. I tried using $('.primary').each(function(){ blah }) instead but got the same result. I read somewhere that some change events are only registered when the object is no longer in focus, so I tried adding .blur() to the end of the statement.

i have build a website with google maps. You can find it here: [URL]
Within this website you can search for farmers in Baden-Württemberg Germany. So if you try to use it for debugging just search for "Stuttgart" f.e.
My problem is that if i click on a marker displayed in the map the associated pagination tab should be opened. I tried to select the link matching the pagination tabs within the Google Gevent.addListener event like: $('a.'+linkid).html('klick mich');
Chaning the html code of the linkid was just for me, so i understand how jQuery works. But how do i implement the function i need?

I have a problem where if a form submission (set up to submit via AJAX) fails validation, the next time the form is submitted, it doubles the number of post requests - which is definitely not what I want to happen. I'm using the jQuery ValidationEngine plugin to submit forms and bind validation messages to my fields. This is my code below. I think my problem is that I need to unbind from the validationEngine plugin when the form fails, but I can't figure out how to do this.

I have a php webpage that has a single input box. When ever an item is entered and the Submit button is pressed, the entry is added to a database. Additionally, the database table contents are read and printed directly below the input box and the submit button on the same page, using AJAX. Now, I have decided to add additional functionality to the page. I want a delete button for each entry displayed in the table below. For any button that is pressed, I want to delete that entry from the database.
Here's the problem: I want the database table contents that has been printed below to reflect this change. I can achieve the delete, but in order to show the change in content caused by the delete, the table below must either be replaced or updated via ajax. How can I achieve this? I have been trying to follow these examples using jQuery and Mootools respectively, but I've been having no luck. [URL] I don't want all the fancy looks, I just want the core functionality.

I have found a problem with <select multiple="multiple"> and .change() under ie6. The problem is ie6 fires first change event right after any other event, like selecting again, clicking mouse, pressing a key etc. It is perfectly seen on [URL]... Just click any option in demo, nothing will happen.
If i put a handler using plain DOM, i.e. $("select").get(0).onchange = function() { ... } the problem dissapears. So, it's definitely a bug with jquery. JQuery version 1.4.2.

I was just battling a small dHTML quirk where I was attempting to set
the className attribute of option elements, but it didn't seem to be
updating. I did some testing with other elements and came to find the
problem was not in my code at all, but rather in my logic...
I had a dehighlightAll(selectBox) function in my code library and
decided to use this to reset all the options to white backgrounds.
This worked fine with my previous method where I explicitly set the
style.background attribute of the options. But when I wanted to use
className instead, everything mysteriously stopped working. I thought
there must be something wrong with className and started
investigating....
I eventually came to the realization that if you explicitly set a style
element, it won't be overridden by the className. This was an
oversight on my part and thought that it might be useful to post about
it, because it could be easy to miss and I haven't seen any posts about
it.
It really comes down to the CSS order of precedence ... that is the
style field modifies the inline style of the object, while the
className references a class ... and as CSS precedence dictates, inline
styles override all others. So this is a word to the wise to be
careful if you're ever mixing className and style elements...

I am using some code I found on the internet to make all my external links in a new window. Also, I want to make these links gray. I think I once heard you coulden't change link colors at all once a page was loaded, but I may be wrong. In any case, it won't work.
Here is my code:
Now I find I can't make them open in a new window either.

I expect to see "foo" for the 2nd alert. Instead, the value of select is

document.control.titleFont.value = 'foo'
alert('After change: ' + document.control.titleFont.value);

I have an input that renders completely weird in IE8 - the issue fixes itself however as soon as you enter something into the input. The input is not floated. When the page loads, the entire input, except the actually text in the input are moved down and right by the amount of padding on the top and left, 4px. The bottom margin is also increased by 4px. As soon as I edit the value of the input, the box returns to its correct position. This occurs in no other browser (even IE7) and is not due to js. If needed I'll include the source code, but I've looked it over numerous times and couldn't find any errors.

Part 1 of this post I have tested the file i am working on firebug and it's html output result as:undefined can anybody and i have wondered what can be done to define?
HTML Code:
<td>
<ul id="Torpedo" class="undefined">
<li class="one">
<a title="1 Star" href="javascript:RateItem('Torpedo', 1);">1</a>
</li>
[Code]...
So the problem is in the connection from the rating.class.php to rating.js or inside the rating.js where there is not reference to the rated CSS class which define stage 3 in the illustration above. as I said it is suppose to go from stage 1 to stage 3 and define immediately instead with the rated css class instead of going from stage 1 to stage2 to stage 3
there is another file used in this system and it is a javascript file call prototype.js and it seem to be a general file used by most java scripts to pull out functions from there.

is it possibile to detect and prevent through javascript the opening of a new window caused by a embedded flash object? In the html code this embedded object resides within a given div with id.
I would want to know about it because every time I open the page, the flash embedded object opens another window, and it is a little bit noisy.
Does exists a solution for that?
