JQuery :: Auto-Pagination Based On Max Height?
Nov 5, 2010
I have the standard Pagination plug-in working with manual page breaks however I would like to improve on this and have a set height for each page. So I think I would need to loop through each <p> element, add the heights together, then once it hits a set value for height like 500px it would insert the page break element. I'm not worried about splitting up a paragraph so if it goes over a little on each page it's ok.
I don't know how to do this however. Is there a plug in that can accomplish this or does somebody know how to do this?

I'm looking for a good cross-domain iframe resizing script that adjusts its height based on its content. I have access to the html/css for the source of the iframe as well. Is there any out there?

I need some help with a couple things. I am not good with or really familiar with Javascript much if at all. What I am trying to do is create a scrolling gallery like this:
I basically was able to grab the code and reworked it and got it scrolling and what not, the issue now is, the pagination links are not working, meaning they are there, working correctly but numbers/links are not click-able.
Here is the code:
<div id="slider1" class="sliderwrapper">
<div class="bannerframe">
<table width="575" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
[Code]...
What the heck am I missing. I have the appropriate files referenced, and its working but I just cant click the links on the pagination.

I am using this script called virtualpaginate, I have it all working but there is one thing that I would like to change. currently it displays all the paginated page number, I have 14 so it looks like "1 2 3 4 5 ... 14", What I would like to do is change the script so it will show " 1 2 3 4" once you click 4, 5 will appear once you click 5, 6 will appear and so on. I am completely stuck on how I can archive this. The section of the code I need to change is below:
Code:
virtualpaginate.prototype.paginate_output_flatview=function(flatviewcontainer, divpos, anchortext){
var flatviewhtml=""
var anchortext=anchortext || new Array()
for (var i=0; i<this.pagecount; i++){
if (typeof anchortext[i]!="undefined") //if custom anchor text for this link exists
flatviewhtml+='<a href="#flatview" rel="'+i+'">'+anchortext[i]+' |</a> ' //build pagination link using custom anchor text
else
flatviewhtml+='<a href="#flatview" rel="'+i+'">'+(i+1)+'</a> | ' //build pagination link using auto incremented sequential number instead
}
flatviewcontainer.innerHTML=flatviewhtml
this.paginate_build_flatview(flatviewcontainer, divpos, anchortext)
}

I'm using the Sortable/Portlets UI Code. Is it possible to auto-resize the Containment Height's. Bascially I have a DIV that acts as a container with a black background, when I sort these elements I want the container DIV height to change to match. OR is it possible to stop the bottom sortables from having sortables placed underneath them?

I try to make a news slider with cycle plugin here's the structure
//---------------------//
<div id="myNewsDisplay">
<ul id="aContent">
<li>short text</li>
<li>moderate text</li>
<li>long text</li>
</ul>
<div id="aFooter"></div>
</div>
//---------------------//
I want to make the #myNewsDisplay to animate height based on #aContent height the problem is that, everytime the news showing up at the beginning the height is automatically set by the last long text height. How to make the #myNewsDisplay height auto adjust the height of every news height?

Copy the following code and run it in IE and Firefox. In IE, you can see it works pretty damn good, with the center column using a div with "overflow". That is what I want!
Now, in Firefox, it doesn't work like that probably because it's doing it the RIGHT way
So, with that said, can any of you javascript guru's think of anything that we can use some JS to force the middle div to use that scrollbar when the content gets past the initial browser height? Code:

I am stuck on the last part of this jQuery auto-calculation script that I am working on. I want to automatically re-calculate the subtotal values based on a "radio button click". The calculation will automatically add a 10% discount when the radio button "special_(n)" "yes" value gets clicked, but revert back to normal price when the "no" value gets clicked.
View the script in action here: [url] (tip): enter a value into the 'qty' field, and the totals will auto calculate.

I would like to set the height of certain #div elements on a page based on the height of the user's current window state. It should draw the elements based on the size of the window at onLoad, and also respond to the onResize event.

I'm making a wordpress theme that will have a SMF forum incorporated into one of the pages. I've decided to use an iframe that calls in the forum (which is in the same domain), after trying several of the auto height scripts, including ones I used before with success, I got nothing. I'm not sure if it's a wordpress thing, but the scripts I'm so familiar with just don't want to work. Since forums change their height with all the different pages, this is an essential script for me. The only script (a new one) that somewhat works is the following:
Code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function resizeIframe(obj) {
obj.style.height = obj.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight + 'px';
obj.style.width = obj.contentWindow.document.body.scrollWidth + 'px';
}
</script>
Which eventually gets called with:
Code:
onload='javascript:resizeIframe(this);'
inside the iframe tag.
Now, this seemed to work just fine, but now the height of the page gets added the more I browse. If for example I go to a topic with a lot of replies (meaning, a long page height) and I browse back to the index page, that extra height isn't gone. You can see what I mean here: [URL]. I was wondering if there is something that can be done to this script to stop this and properly resize the iframe. The other script I've used was: [URL]. Which worked great as you can see here: [URL].

I have a mysql database with a bunch of quotations in it. I created a blog at http:[url]....At the top of the blog is an iframe window that directs to http:[url]....On that page it uses php to pull out a random quote from the database. The iframe window displays that quote onto the blog.It works great except that the height is not automatically resizing.Is there a way I can use javascript to do this instead? Here is some pseudo-code of what I'd like to be able to do: (p.s. I do not know javascript or much of anything so I am looking for people to tell me how to ACTUALLY do this)
var stringvariable = http://aro2220.com/blog/index.html;
int stringlength = stringlength(stringvariable);
int autosize = 200 + stringlength * 5;
<iframe width="100%" frameborder="0" src="http://aro2220.com/blog" height=$autosize scrolling="no"></iframe>

In order to make my site scalable (down to 1024x768), I need four layers to vertically scroll so that their contents doesn't force the main page to scroll. However, on higher resolutions, there'll be more space below the layers which means I don't necessarily want the layers to scroll if there's enough space to fit the text in.
I've tried CSS - I had to specify a height of 250px (the most I can use before main-page-scrolling takes effect in 1024x768) and set overflow: auto. The problem with this is that this is static formatting - no matter what resolution I use, the layers are always going to scroll because the height has been set to 250px.
So I was wondering if there's a way, either a CSS property/function (or maybe this can only be done in java script) - to make the layers scroll only if there's a risk of the main page scrolling?Or do I need to attack this with a crowbar and have a separate style sheet for every single resolution where I specify the height of the layers for each one?

I currently have multiple combos ofimage with a description text below it.I want to lay them out inrowsand inline. So if the width of page is not enough the next one should startbeginning of next row. Each image and text is currently house by a div with float left and a set width, but if you look at the attached screenshot (1.jpg), The Oracle - eBusiness Suite gets stuck because of the differentsheight due to text size and if I set a height too, then some of the text gets covered up (2.jpg). I was thinking if I can maybe use J Query to automatically adjust height to divs on the same rowto fit the biggest text size on that row?Evenjust changing all divs to that heightbe would be ok if it'seasier.

I'm trying to create the following visual feature on my page (www.enviromark.ca/Collab/study.html). if you notice, there is a border-right: 1px solid grey; on the 'links' div. I would like to do the following:
onload, i would like the height of the 'links' div to be saved into a variable
i assume this would be done using a variation of 'var minHeight = document.getElementByID('links').offsetHeight'
onclick, i would like the height of the div about to be loaded (aka unhidden) to be saved into a variable... say var newHeight for ex.
IF newheight > minHeight, set document.getElementByID('links').height = 'newHeight' + px;
here's how i tried to code it:
<script language="JavaScript">
function setBorderHeight(divName)
{
var minHeight = document.getElementByID('links').offsetHeight;
var newHeight = document.getElementByID(divName).offsetHeight;
if (newHeight > minHeight)
{
document.getElementByID('links').style.height = 'newHeight' + px;
}
}
</script>
here's an example of a link:
<a class="mainLinks" href="learnMore" onclick="setBorderHeight('learnMore'); ball(this.previousSibling); return toggle('learnMore', 0);"
onmouseover="zxcMseOver(this,1);" onmouseout="zxcMseOver(this,-1);">Learn More</a>
what went wrong?

I am working on an application that emulates a mainframe terminal session. In the form, I'd like to auto-tab, but only when the cursor is in the last position, since the user may be modifying a field that is already pre-filled.
The problem is that hitting any key when the form is filled will cause the cursor to tab to the next field.
As an example, say I have 3 fields prefilled with today's date (month/day/year): 10/15/2004 ... The user positions the cursor at the beginning of the day field and would like to overtype the "15" and change it to "01". As soon as he types "0", the cursor is positioned to the next field. The desired behavior is to do this only when the cursor is in the last position (where the 5 is).
I'm not sure if this is even possible in an HTML form, so please let me know if I am barking up the wrong tree. If I need to switch from JavaScript to another scripting language (and even if this only works in IE - yuck!) I will do so, since that'll satisfy the project requirements.

Does anyone know of how I could dynamically resize an iframe based on
the content's height (for IE) so that no scrollbar appears for the iframe?
The content will be from a different domain. I have searched on the web and
have seen solution like this
<script>
function resize() {
var oframe = document.getElementById("frameID");
//***
//var odoc = oframe.document; //(1)
var odoc = oframe.Document; //(2)
var obody = odoc.body;
oframe.height = obody.scrollHeight;
}
</script>
The html :
<iframe onload="resize()" src=http://different.comain.content border="0"
....... > </iframe>
I have seen 2 solutions on the web, the only difference being lines (1) and
(2) get substitued.
My browser is version IE 6.
It seems that the solution with line (2) works perfectly when the content is
from the same domain but gets a Permission Error if the domain is different.
When the content is from a different domain solution (1) does not give
Permission error, but instead the scrollHeight is significantly smaller
than the actual content. Even if the content is from the same domain it
still gives the wrong size.
So my question is
1) What is the difference between oframe.document and oframe.Document, why
does it give different results?
2) More importantly, how can I dynamically adjust the iframe size based on
the content height from a different domain?

I have the following script resizeing my iframe based on height. The problem is if my site is on one domain say http://mydomain.company.com and the target page is on another domain say http://anotherdomain.mycompany.com the script does not resize the page. I cannot add anything to the pages i am linking to because they live in a CVS repository so i cannot call a function or passs information in that way.
is there any way to make my script work? I'm so fustrated, I'm so close! help!
<!--this script auto resizes the height of the iframe based on contents-->
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function resize_iframe(){
document.getElementById("_iframe").height=768 // required for mozilla/firefox bugs, value can be "", null, or integer
document.getElementById('_iframe').height=window.frames["_iframe"].document.body.scrollHeight
}
// -->
</script>
which uses the following iframe
<iframe width=96% id="_iframe" name="_iframe" src="intro.htm" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" ALLOWTRANSPARENCY="true" onload=resize_iframe();></iframe>

I've looked around and from what I can tell, the code seems right. Basically crating a JS array and passing PHP values to it to use in an onChange to fill a text field. The dropdown gets populated fine but the text field does not autopopulate onChange. I'm not too fluent with JS but have a good analytical mind and from what I can see, the logic seems right.
<?php
include('connectdb.php');
$CENTRE = $_SESSION['centreAFB'];
$qryFormList = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tblLogin WHERE ACCT_TYPE = '2' AND loginCENTRE = '$CENTRE' ORDER BY loginNOM");
echo "<script type='text/javascript'> var formCourriel = new Array()";
while($resFormList = mysql_fetch_assoc($qryFormList))

I am more of a front end guy with experience in xhtml/css and want to get my hands dirty with some back-end programming (Javascript/jQuery/AJAX/PHP) and was wondering about a specific task involving (mainly) what I would believe is AJAX.
I was wondering if there is a way to have a page with a starting price of $299 (lets say a basic vacuum) then below that are 20 or so customizable add-ons to choose from through simple checkboxes. That (to me) should be easy enough, but I would love to have the grand total at the bottom of the page be updated in real time as the user checks or unchecks certain add-ons (kind like how apple.com does it).
What is a good starting point for this, and would it be possible to send out the order as an email with the total price sent to the business owner.
