JQuery :: Auto-Calculation Based On Radio Buttons
Apr 12, 2011
I am stuck on the last part of this jQuery auto-calculation script that I am working on. I want to automatically re-calculate the subtotal values based on a "radio button click". The calculation will automatically add a 10% discount when the radio button "special_(n)" "yes" value gets clicked, but revert back to normal price when the "no" value gets clicked.
View the script in action here: [url] (tip): enter a value into the 'qty' field, and the totals will auto calculate.

Having trouble calculating the final cost of choices made by a user. I have 4 radio buttons and 2 checkboxes. The first three radio buttons are, all intensive purposes, chocolates with the last radio button stating that the user doesn't want any of the chocolates. The two checkboxes are a milkshake and candyfloss respectively. The user may only choose one of the three chocolates and optionally the milkshake, candyfloss or both.
What I have so far is as follows:
Javascript code
function calc(sec,val,item)
{
if(!item) {
var item = null;
}
switch(sec)
{
case 1:
Some code for a different function.
break
case 2:
cValue = parseInt(document.getElementById("purchaseTotal").value);
if(item.checked){
document.getElementById("purchaseTotal").value = cValue+val;
}else{
document.getElementById("purchaseTotal").value = cValue-val;
} break;
} }
html
<td>Chocolate 1: ZAR 5.00</td>
<td><input name="chocolate" type="radio" id="chocolate" value="" onClick="calc(2,5.00, this);">
</td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Chocolate 2: ZAR 5.00</td>
<td><input name="chocolate" type="radio" id="chocolate" value="" onClick="calc(2,5.00, this);">
</td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Chocolate 3: ZAR 1 200.00</td>
<td><input name="chocolate" type="radio" id="chocolate" value="" onClick="calc(2,5.00, this);">
</td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>I do not wish to buy a chocolate.</td>
<td><input name="chocolate" type="radio" id="chocolate" value="" onClick="calc(2,0, this);">
</td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Milkshake: ZAR 13.00</td>
<td><input type="checkbox" name="milkshake" id="milkshake" value="" onClick="calc(2,13.00, this);"></td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Candyfloss: ZAR 8.00</td>
<td><input type="checkbox" name="candyfloss" id="candyfloss" value="" onClick="calc(2,8.00, this);"></td>
<td> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="3" align="right" valign="top">Total ZAR <input name="purchaseTotal" type="text" id="purchaseTotal" value="0"></td>
What happens at the moment is that clicking on one radio button doesn't subtract the amount from the previous selected radio button and clicking on the same radio button just keeps adding its value to the total. I'd like it to do the opposite and not add to the total if clicked repeatedly and if another radio button is selected the amount of the previous radio button must be deducted from the total.

I have a form with three radio options. And I have three buttons:
<input type="submit" name="mainform_action" value="Edit Data">
<input type="submit" name="mainform_action" value="View Data">
<input type="submit" name="mainform_action" value="Delete Data">
If the first radio button is selected, I only want all three buttons to be
visible to the user.
If the second radio button is selected, I only want the "Edit Data" and "View
Data" buttons to be visible.
If the third radio button is selected, I only want the "View Data" button to be
visible.
Is it possible to accomplish this in Javascript? In particular, I want to
continue using the "input type=submit" buttons without having to create my own.

I have spent the last 6 hours working on this, and I am about to lose my sanity. I need your help very desparately. I want to create some radio buttons for building a computer for a class project. Basically, what I have now is the radio buttons in separate groups, and a function that calculates the total price of the items selected. But what I am finding impossible to get is this: I need to set it up such as that if you select a radio button in one group, it disables part of the second. What this means in my work, is that say I choose AM3 as the CPU socket, only AM3 motherboards and processors will be enabled, and the rest in these categories will be disabled.
I am trying to set it up in a way that when you first open the page, cpu, motherboard and ram groups all disabled, then based on your socket choice you get different options for motherboards and processors, and then based on your motherboard choice you get different choices for RAM.

I'm not one for making my own scripts, so not quite sure about the best way to go about doing this. I've got a form with 2 different sets of radio buttons. Upon submitting, I'd like to redirect the user to a certain page, based on the selections they made among the radio buttons.

I'm trying to create a questionnaire style series of radio buttons which are hidden and then a different set of radio buttons displayed depending on the previous answer. eg
Q1 Is it a man? (if select yes then display)
Q2 Is he called John? (if no then display)
Q3 Is he called Gary? and so on...
I've been testing using the code below but wondered if anyone had any ideas on how this could be done easily?

I'm trying to get a radio button validation for different sets of radio buttons that simply contains Yes & No buttons.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
Question 1: if Yes, then (Alert 1) if No, then (Alert 2) (if Yes, then Question 2 appears) *Up to here I'm happy- can't figure out the rest*
Question 2: if Yes, then (Alert 1) if No, then (Alert 2) (if Yes, then Question 3 appears)
I need the Alerts to be swapped from this point*
Question 3: if Yes, then (Alert 2) if No, then (Alert 1) (if NO, then Question 4 appears)
Identical for Question 5, and for Last Question 6 Alerts swapped back again.)
Here's the script that I managed to piece together:

I've hacked together a calculator, it features one row to begin with that accepts user inputs to specify height (from dropdown), width, depth, qty (text fields).It then performs a calculation (width+depth) * multiplier +12
The multiplier is defined by an IF based on the selected height.I want to add 10 or more rows which are identical, and then get a grand total for all the rows' totals added together.Where I am stuck is how to change the drawerPrice function to handle extra rows.I basically know nothing about js, this is a result of day 1.
Code JavaScript:

I have a set of radio buttons each with an onclick event that has a numeric value. When the button is clicked an input box called "Total" is updated with the new value. The problem I'm having is that if a radio button is checked and one clicks on it again then the onclick event is triggered.
Is there any way to prevent the onclick event from triggering if the radio button is already checked?

I want my radio buttons to become submit buttons as well. So when a user clicks on a radio button it submits the action and refreshes the page accordingly. As of now using only using onclick="this.form.submit()" the page only refreshes with no change. Here is a copy of the entire form. It is a custom shipping options form (I did not create it).

JQuery and indeed JavaScript, though have been building sites using CMS since 2000! I am finally taking the plunge and get into learning this stuff, but have come accross my first problem.I have a Yes / No radio button group which controls other elements in the site. When Yes is selected, certain countries appear, and when no, others do.No, since the site has different sections, I would like the radio to defaul to Yes on one section and no on another.What I need to know, is how do I make it default to for example Yes:I have tried the following code so far, but no success:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
var $radios = $('input:radio[name=data[Field][Listing][jr_istour]]');

I have the standard Pagination plug-in working with manual page breaks however I would like to improve on this and have a set height for each page. So I think I would need to loop through each <p> element, add the heights together, then once it hits a set value for height like 500px it would insert the page break element. I'm not worried about splitting up a paragraph so if it goes over a little on each page it's ok.
I don't know how to do this however. Is there a plug in that can accomplish this or does somebody know how to do this?

I have a form with 40 radio button lists. Each radio button list contains 2 radio buttons = "OK" and "NA". The radio button lists are given ID's like "page1RB1", "page1RB2" etc. The radio button lists are assigned a class "rbOK". I am trying to reset all of the radio buttons to "OK" using the following code:
function clearChecklist(){
$('.rbOK').each(function(intIndex){
var theText = "#" + $(this).attr('id');
var theDL = theText.replace('RB', 'DL');
$(theText.replace('RB', 'CP')).css({'color':'maroon'});
$(theDL).css({'color':'gray'});
$(theDL).val(-1);
$(theDL).attr('disabled', 'disabled');
$(theText).css({'color':'black'});
$('input[name=' + theText + ']:eq(0)').attr('checked', 'checked');
});}
As an aside, I also have a drop down list and label associated with each radio button list using a similar naming/ID convention where RB is replaced with DL for the drop down list or CP for the label. That is, page1RB1 is associated with page1DL1 drop down and page1CP1 label. In this code, what I am trying to do is step through all radio button lists; read the radio button name/ID; use it to set the color and value of the drop down list and label and set Radio Button checked to OK. It is the last part that is not working. the above code handles the drop down list and label perfectly. But for the life of me, I can not get the radio buttons to reset to OK. When I click on the NA, they stay checked.
