Auto Tab Based On Position, Not Length

Oct 15, 2004

I am working on an application that emulates a mainframe terminal session. In the form, I'd like to auto-tab, but only when the cursor is in the last position, since the user may be modifying a field that is already pre-filled.

The problem is that hitting any key when the form is filled will cause the cursor to tab to the next field.

As an example, say I have 3 fields prefilled with today's date (month/day/year): 10/15/2004 ... The user positions the cursor at the beginning of the day field and would like to overtype the "15" and change it to "01". As soon as he types "0", the cursor is positioned to the next field. The desired behavior is to do this only when the cursor is in the last position (where the 5 is).

I'm not sure if this is even possible in an HTML form, so please let me know if I am barking up the wrong tree. If I need to switch from JavaScript to another scripting language (and even if this only works in IE - yuck!) I will do so, since that'll satisfy the project requirements.

JQuery :: Auto-Pagination Based On Max Height?

Nov 5, 2010

I have the standard Pagination plug-in working with manual page breaks however I would like to improve on this and have a set height for each page. So I think I would need to loop through each <p> element, add the heights together, then once it hits a set value for height like 500px it would insert the page break element. I'm not worried about splitting up a paragraph so if it goes over a little on each page it's ok.

I don't know how to do this however. Is there a plug in that can accomplish this or does somebody know how to do this?

The calculation will automatically add a 10% discount when the radio button "special_(n)" "yes" value gets clicked, but revert back to normal price when the "no" value gets clicked.

View the script in action here: [url] (tip): enter a value into the 'qty' field, and the totals will auto calculate.

Auto Text Field Populate Based On Dropdown

Feb 22, 2011

I've looked around and from what I can tell, the code seems right. Basically crating a JS array and passing PHP values to it to use in an onChange to fill a text field. The dropdown gets populated fine but the text field does not autopopulate onChange. I'm not too fluent with JS but have a good analytical mind and from what I can see, the logic seems right.

<?php
include('connectdb.php');
$CENTRE = $_SESSION['centreAFB'];
$qryFormList = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tblLogin WHERE ACCT_TYPE = '2' AND loginCENTRE = '$CENTRE' ORDER BY loginNOM");
echo "<script type='text/javascript'> var formCourriel = new Array()";
while($resFormList = mysql_fetch_assoc($qryFormList))

Auto Update Price Based On Form Fields?

Aug 7, 2010

I am more of a front end guy with experience in xhtml/css and want to get my hands dirty with some back-end programming (Javascript/jQuery/AJAX/PHP) and was wondering about a specific task involving (mainly) what I would believe is AJAX.

I was wondering if there is a way to have a page with a starting price of $299 (lets say a basic vacuum) then below that are 20 or so customizable add-ons to choose from through simple checkboxes. That (to me) should be easy enough, but I would love to have the grand total at the bottom of the page be updated in real time as the user checks or unchecks certain add-ons (kind like how apple.com does it).

What is a good starting point for this, and would it be possible to send out the order as an email with the total price sent to the business owner.

JQuery :: Trigger Accordion Based On Scroll Position?

Jun 21, 2010

I'm wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on this. I have an accordion set up which is all working fine. Clicking accordion elements scrolls a main div into position (y-axis). However, i would like to trigger the accordion externally. More specifically, if the user manually scrolls the main content div (using the browser scrollbar or their mousewheel) i would like to trigger the relative accordion section based on the scroll (y-axis) position of the scrolling div. What would be the best way/plugin for achieving this?

The positions would be very specific so there could be an array of y-pos values. Alternatively, for the accordion scroll function anchor links are already set up in the main scrolling div so would this be the best option? I'm just struggling to see how to achieve this.

Dropdown Hover Menu Based On Scrolling Position?

Oct 20, 2010

there was any premade dropdown menu which opens based on what position you are on the page.

For example, when I'm on the top of the page and hover the mouse over the dropdown menu, the menu opens upward instead of downward because the navigation is mid-screen. But if I was to be more than halfway across the screen and still see the navigation as it was on top of the screen and hover the mouse over it, the dropdown menu opens downward as oppose to up.

Auto-Populate Text Field Based On DropDown List Selection

Dec 3, 2009

I have set up my website quite some time ago that has served its purpose very well, however I will now be adding an order form functionality. So far, by reading books and traversing forums, I have been able to develop a page where the user
1.Enters data into the required fields, that is then submitted to a MYSQL database via PHP,
2.Can retrieve orders that are stored in the database,
3.Delete orders that are stored in the database.

I have wamp installed on my computer as the webserver. I have also incorporated two drop down lists that both retrieve their values from tables within the database. The first drop down list retrieves the Australian States that I have stored in a table, and once the submit button is pressed, it stores the State that is selected to a separate table. This drop down list functions as it should. An extract from "From Place an order.php"

<?php
$dbcnx = @mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', 'tingling');
if (!$dbcnx) {
exit('<p>Unable to connect to the ' .
'database server at this time.</p>');
} .....

The second drop down list retrieves product names from a table that contains products and their prices. What I would like to happen, is that when the product is selected from this drop down list, a text box is automatically filled with its corresponding price. I had this drop down list working as per the "States" drop down list, but could not get it to auto populate the text field. I got some assistance from a friend and was able to get the text box to auto populate with its corresponding price, however when the page was submitted to the database, the "id" number of the product name from the drop down list was stored, and not the product name.

<select name="productSelection" onchange = "getProductDetails(this)">
<option selected value="1product">Select Product</option>
<?php
$products1 = @mysql_query('SELECT * FROM products');
if (!$products1) {
exit('<p>Unable to obtain author list from the database.</p>'); .....

When you hover over those items, I want them to be given a background image that is a blurred and lightened version of the same photo so it needs to line up (sort of like the tabs are made of frosted glass).

i need some creative input. i'm trying to enable the user to input a
length of time, from one day to about 10 years. ideas i've had have
been:

- 3 pull down boxes, for days, months, years

- an entry box for a value and a pull down box for units (days, weeks,
months, years)

- a scroll bar to slide along to a corresponding time

I'm not sure i should even use javascript, maybe an applet instead. I'd
really appreciated some new ideas or brainstorming.

ChildNodes.length

Jan 4, 2006

I have a problem with getting the amount of childs in a XML structure,
the strucure is somewhat like the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<cms>
<num>21</num>
<xmlnames>
<field>id</field>
<field>name</field>
<field>availablefrom</field>
<field>availableuntill</field>
<field>owner</field>
</xmlnames>
</cms>

If I use the following to get te amount of childs for xmlnames I get an
amount of 11:
xmlObj.responseXML.getElementsByTagName('xmlnames' )[0].childNodes.length

Is this wrong or maybe there is a better / other way of counting the
child amount?
