JQuery :: Animation - Div Element With Background-image
Jan 6, 2012
I created a page with multiple images and a div element. When I click on those images, I change the background image of the div with jQuery animation. The moment is made to change the image, the effect of exchange is white, and needed it to be black. Can I change the color of the effect fadin / fadeout without changing the background image of div element?
You can view what i've done here, just click in "Manaca" and "Historia" words

I am trying to dynamically create child elements and add a background image before appending it to the parent node. Everything is working except for the image files actually appearing. When you inspect the element in Mozilla, it reveals that the li elements have all been created and attached, and even contain the "style" attribute. I am certain it is my reference to the image array that I am not calling correctly... how to use the array to reference the new background image? external js file:

So I have this weird glitch where if you put your cursor over my header but pull away before the second animation fade's in, it will get caught in limbo land and will never fully fade in again.

I'm trying to have an effect happen after an effect for some other elements has finished.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#about_div").toggle(function() {
$(".work_divs").slideUp(600);
[code]....
and a couple of variations. I increased the duration to slow it down but the effects occur simultaneously.

My question explains everything, I have a div inside a parent div. I need to move it inside another div and on the UI show the animation of it moving.
The only way I can think of is, select the element, copy the html(), copy the offset() position and remove element from original container. then add a copy of previously removed element to page/document set the position to the copied offset and animate()
After animation is complete, remove it from the page and add it to the secondary container.
Is there any better and easier way of doing this ? any plugin may be ?

I've got a little jquery bit to add some behavior to linked mp3s. You see this here: [URL]. Basically, jquery adds a speak icon and a player when the link is clicked, and the link title flies off and fades to the right:
[code] jQuery('a[href$=mp3]:not(.amplink)')
.wrap('<div class="mp3_span">' + '</div>')
.addClass("mp3_title")
.attr("title", "Click to Play")
.before('<img src="' + anarchy_url + '/images/114.png"
title="Click to listen" class="speaker" style="margin:' + mp3imgmargin + '"/>')
.each(function awesome() { .....
This works more or less how it would like it in all browsers except ie7. There the block that is created for the expanding text pushes everything down, even though the link are given a position:absolute declaration.
The pertinent css:
[code]
div.mp3_span {margin-left:90px; width:600px; position:relative;
display: inline !important; height:1.5em !important;}
a.mp3_title {font: oblique small-caps normal 1em/1.5em Arial, sans-
serif; display: inline !important; position: absolute !important;
cursor: pointer; width:500px; outline: none;}a.mp3_title:hover
{cursor: pointer; outline: none;}
a.mp3_title:active {outline: none;-moz-outline-style: none;}
img.speaker {border:none !important ;cursor:pointer; position:static !
important; vertical-align:top; }[/code]
I can't seem to do no matter what css I apply, and, of course, I' rather not hack the jquery script. So again - how can I keep the text animation without having the following elements getting pushed down?

Separately, they both work perfectly. The css-script for a beating heart does what it should do: feature a beating heart (or rather, image of a heart). The random background cycling script chooses a new background every 10 seconds.
However, put together, they still work, only every 10 seconds, the screen blinks black (the background cycler does not feature a transition on its own), both the background and the heart (and everything else on screen) blink out of existence for a split-second and then everything is back again.
I've managed to determine, despite knowing absolutely nothing about CSS and JS except for what little I've learned today through tinkering with the scripts, that if I remove the variable "infinite", the heart will beat only once after each transition and the blinking glitch will not occur, so it has something to do with that.
What I want is this: A heartbeat animation that's infinite with a background that cycles through a set number of backgrounds every X seconds without any kind of transitions or blinking effects.
The heartbeat CSS-script:
Code:
The background cycler (html-file):
Code:
The background cycler (js-file):

I created a dropdown menu using jquery. So when I hover over a button it slides down the menu. Now if I move the mouse out of the menu and bring it back in before it slides up(menu has a lot of items so there is enough time to bring the mouse back in on the menu)over the dropdown menu it starts a chain of slideDown() and slideUp() functions and it does not stop till I move the mouse of the menu or back on the button. Below is my jquery code:

I am building a simple t-shirt creator app for my shop and I am using the interface.js library: [URL].. docs/drag to drag/drop and re-size the graphic on the shirt background image.
Once the user has chosen a spot to put the graphic, how do I save the background image of the t-shirt with the image they dropped in the correct spot? Like, to merge the two graphics in place?

I'm using three elements and jQuery to create a scrollable information element with a sliding animation (similar to this. I'm running into issues when resetting those three elements to prepare for the next prev/next animation, however. The issue is in my logic - jQuery's selectors will reverse themselves using the code I have.
Javascript Code:
Original - javascript Code
$('#name.current').removeClass('current').addClass('prev');
$('#name.next').removeClass('next').addClass('current');
$('#name.prev').removeClass('prev').addClass('next');
$('#name.current').removeClass('current').addClass('prev');$('#name.next').removeClass('next').addClass('current');$('#name.prev').removeClass('prev').addClass('next');
As you can see, the last step will always reverse the first step These elements do need to be reset in one way or another so that the information can be loaded appropriately (from an XML file). and then animated again.

I have a div set up like this
<div id='y' style='background-image: url(./randomcolor.php?ibase=
<?
php echo $entity
->
[code]....
I am having an issue with setting the background-image of a another div #x to the background image of #y.Correct me if I am wrong but I think you would do this in a simple case by saying
$
(
'#x'
).
[code]....
So when it does it, it is getting the URL of the generator (I logged it. what is actually being passed is [URL] This would require a server call to generate a new image, In this particular application, even if it wasn't exactly the image y had it would be acceptable. But it's not doing it. It is not getting any image at all. Am I doing something wrong, i.e. is it supposed to just work? I would think not, since the page has already been rendered. This is almost an ajax situation but I don't know how to do it for an image. I don't really want to generate a new image anyway, I'd be very happy to get the one that's already there. How would I access the actual image already attached to y and not do another server call?

I'm trying to get a simple series of images to fade sequentially to create a slide show/image rotator effect. The effect works flawlessly in Firefox, Chrome, Safari and even IE 7 but for some reason nothing happens in IE 8. The slide show images don't display at all and the only thing that is visible is the default background image.If you go tou'll see the issue in (in)action (in you're using IE8).The relevant code from the page is:
<div id="header-content">

do the following: I have a thumbnail image that on rollover swaps to another image. At the same time i want to do a fade out/fade in animation between the images. Most of it is working but when the page loads for the first time there is no swaping of the image but just a fast opactity effect on the first image. Then if i try the rollover for the second time it does work as expected. Is it because the image that im loading doesn't load fast enough and the whole animation onRollover doesn't happen? I also have a problem when Rollover fast on the thumbnails. It just stays on the second image but doesn't go back to the first original image? For some reason the animation gets confused between the Rollover and Rollout states. Here is a link to see the example

I know this is not a good practice but do is why im looking for help in this forum.

I have this working fine, and I can append the preloaded image to a hidden div then fade the div in for a smooth effect.
Problem is I want to set this preloaded image as a css background image, not as a <img /> in a container. But if when the image is loaded, instead of .prepend() I do .css() and set the css property of a background-image to be the preloaded images URL, then when it carries on with displaying it the browser loads the image again. Rather than using the preloaded one.
I want the image to be a background image as I want it centered in the page background, even if it is too large for the viewport.

I have a LARGE, hi-resolution image that I am trying to use as the background for a page. Because it is so large, it takes a while to download. Because of this, I wanted to load the image behind-the-scenes and show it once it is downloaded.
To accomplish this, I'm using the following JQuery code:
This code clearly downloads an image and appends it to my DIV element. However, I really want to set this downloaded image to the background-image CSS property of my DIV. The reason why is because I have content inside the DIV that should serve as the foreground.
How do I dynamically download an image, fade it in, and use it as a background?

I'm trying to find a JQuery plugin that will:
a) preload all img's and background's on a given page
b) display an animated gif in the center of the original's img's or background's container
c) fade out showing each image once it's downloaded
d) as a consequence of (a) allow the page to render (show) quicker even if (depending on server speed, connection speed and user computer speed) the remaining images are still in a 'load state'.
e) is based on JQuery so not to increase page's footprint via adding Mootools, Prototype, YUI or the like (unless the additional 100KB or so is so worth it).
I've scouted Google and there a few out there but amazingly none seem to focus on doing this for a web page's image's but rather seem to focus on galleries/lightbox windows and so forth.

I am trying to basically change the background image of a div element containing a nav bar when a navigation link is hovered over. Here is my script:
$(function(){
$("li#hover-first").mouseover(function(){
$("div.nav").removeClass("nav").addClass("navbg");
.mouseout(function(){$("div.nav").removeClass("navbg").addClass("nav");
});
So the idea is, once the first li item is hovered over, the div with classname "nav" has it's class removed and has "navbg" added (which has the alternate background image).

This is meant to be a very simple animation. Everything seems to be correct, but it doesn't seem to run. Basically it is a system where the image is 50px taller than the box it is being displayed in. When you hover over the image, the image is meant to move up via jquery to show the bottom (previously hidden) 50px and cut off the top 50px.
Here is my Site: [URL]
Here is my HTML:
Code:
<div id="container"><div>
<a class="none" href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><img src="/themes/smo/portfolio/<?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, 'portfolio_img',true).".gif"; ?>" alt="" /></a>
</div></div>
Here is the Jquery:
Code:
$(function(){
$("div.container div a").hover(function(){
$("img", this).stop().animate({top:"-51px"},{queue:false,duration:200});
}, function() {
$("img", this).stop().animate({top:"0px"},{queue:false,duration:200});
});
I think its something to do with the container class.

My application is based on client-server architecture. It is a E-Learning Application. I am using ruby on rails server, javascript,canvas,SVG element. I have an idea of an interface to allow the teacher to build any type of animation for students using Cake javascript API. I wanted to save the animation build using the canvas element on the rails server either in database or as a file. Later I have to use that animation to be played to students. Any way to do it on any language except proprietary languages like flash but from that language communication can be done with rails server.
