JQuery :: Dynamically Create Scrollable Info Element With Sliding Animation
Nov 9, 2009
I'm using three elements and jQuery to create a scrollable information element with a sliding animation (similar to this. I'm running into issues when resetting those three elements to prepare for the next prev/next animation, however. The issue is in my logic - jQuery's selectors will reverse themselves using the code I have.
Javascript Code:
Original - javascript Code
$('#name.current').removeClass('current').addClass('prev');
$('#name.next').removeClass('next').addClass('current');
$('#name.prev').removeClass('prev').addClass('next');
$('#name.current').removeClass('current').addClass('prev');$('#name.next').removeClass('next').addClass('current');$('#name.prev').removeClass('prev').addClass('next');
As you can see, the last step will always reverse the first step These elements do need to be reset in one way or another so that the information can be loaded appropriately (from an XML file). and then animated again.

I'm working on a page, where I want to use jQuery to build a "Portfolio" div that contains pics and info about some of my work. I found a bunch of cool tutorials about making a slide show, but they all have a sliding animation. With my page, the sliding animation would look awkward. I'm fine if it just replaces the current div with the next one. I'm just planning on using a previous and next button (Within the same div) to cycle through these.

I'm trying to use the scrollTo plug in, maybe in the stupidest way, but I feel I am almost there!in my case every scrollable element has his own next-prev buttons, the script is able to extract a variable on the button click, id like to make him use it to calculate the position of the next-prev target. You can take a look to a live example at [URL].
Here's the script I've made:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('.triangolo_top, ') .click(function () {
var numero= $(this).attr('title');
$('#prova').text(numero)
$(window).scrollTo ('li:eq (+numero+1)', { duration:500, axis:'y'})
})});

I'm trying to create a sliding panel using css and jQuery, sliding up from the footer of our page. The panel is acitvated by clicking the "newsletter" link (will be used to display a subscription form) in the footer. Functionality looks good, but there is a problem with the look and the positioning. First of all, the positioning is off. It fits seemlesly in the FF I used for creating this effect, but on various browsers and resolutions, the div is displayed higher or lower in stead of "glued" to the top of the footer div. Secondly, I'd like this div to be 100% wide, just like the footer below, with a 940px centered div within to include the content.

I want to print out several bits of info to the page dynamically according to a timer. I have PHP / MySQL printing this data out in hidden divs when the page loads (thinking this might be the best way to do this)... This is working fine. Heres a peice of source of the page:
<div id="0004"><a href="javascript:void(0);" title="Canon was originally named after a Japanese idol/false god. One of the originating camera makers in Japan. Canon revolutionlized the photo industry by releasing superior products at reasonable market prices. Their lens are the benchmark for the professional industry and many consider Canon to be the best photo system that can be bought with money.You see all those white lens's on the side lines at sporting events?">Canon</a></div> Ok the plan is using a counter I want to display all div ids less than say '0075';

I have seen this question asked several times while searching the internet and all the answers seem to be workarounds. Is there a way to do an animation forever with jQuery? All I get are recursion errors; not on my code but on jQuery. Line 580 of jquery-1.4.2.js
So this is what I am doing. I have a complex function for smooth extremely slow animation (clouds in the sky) my function moves an object one pixel at a time. If I take out all recursion, the clouds move one pixel with no error. If I leave the recursion in then I get the recursion error. I am not posting my code first because every time this question is asked they focus on the code. I want to know how to do this regardless of my one scenario.

Below is the code.
My function:
function swap_content(id1,id2)
{
var tmp = document.getElementById(id1).name;
var theval = document.getElementsByName('primary_propertyp_id')[0].value;
document.getElementById(id1).name =
[Code]...
This is running through a PHP loop so it's making multiple divs and links for the secondaries. I am wanting to be able to swap out any of them to make them 'primary' this works for the first click, but after the first click it makes every div id and input name the same as the first that was clicked. It's also not working AT all if i click on the bottom link first, then a link above it. Top-down works, bottom-up doesn't..

If slideToggle()'s parameters were expanded to include a separate callback for sliding up and sliding down. Or for backwards compatibility, perhaps include an optional boolean parameter in the callback to more easily discern between a slideUp and slideDown operation.

I have been playing with a bit of code I found of the web and it works well, it basicly allows me to create pages and navigate between them all done via JQuery. The one question I have is, how hard is it to add some simple animation to it, such as fadein which if I have read correctly is built into JQuery?
code below:

I'm using Jquery to create a rollover effect on 2 images (placed on top of each other) to fade the bottom image in on a mouseover and out on a mouse out. Clicking the faded in image also opens a fancybox gallery. The problem is that sometimes the animation (the fade in and out) gets stuck after closing the fancybox window and the mouseover doesn't work anymore.
Here's my code for the mouseover:

As the subject suggests, I'm interested in having a "picture/information" page on my site. I want a simple list of 5 to 10 thumbnailed pictures when the page loads in which each one is stacked on the other. I would like each to expand with a bigger picture and text information about the picture via user interaction. I have two options - I don't care which one I use:
#1. Once loaded, I would like each thumbnailed picture, once clicked, to expand and show a bigger picture and text information about the picture. I wouldn't mind using this option but this option is more of a hassle and causes more clutter/less interaction.
#2. As I thought about this, I think a better option would be to expand to a bigger picture and text information using a mouse rollover instead of a click so that, once a user moves the mouse back off the bigger picture and information, it reduces back to the thumnail. This would allow for a better organized and better looking page. This effect, I would assume, is almost like text links changing color using mouse rollover.
* Which option would you suggest using?
* Is option #2 even possible?
* I would prefer using option #2.
* I've experimented with this code (however, it used option #1, not #2, and it requires clicking an entirely different button to do so): Code:

My question explains everything, I have a div inside a parent div. I need to move it inside another div and on the UI show the animation of it moving.
The only way I can think of is, select the element, copy the html(), copy the offset() position and remove element from original container. then add a copy of previously removed element to page/document set the position to the copied offset and animate()
After animation is complete, remove it from the page and add it to the secondary container.
Is there any better and easier way of doing this ? any plugin may be ?

I've got a little jquery bit to add some behavior to linked mp3s. You see this here: [URL]. Basically, jquery adds a speak icon and a player when the link is clicked, and the link title flies off and fades to the right:
[code] jQuery('a[href$=mp3]:not(.amplink)')
.wrap('<div class="mp3_span">' + '</div>')
.addClass("mp3_title")
.attr("title", "Click to Play")
.before('<img src="' + anarchy_url + '/images/114.png"
title="Click to listen" class="speaker" style="margin:' + mp3imgmargin + '"/>')
.each(function awesome() { .....
This works more or less how it would like it in all browsers except ie7. There the block that is created for the expanding text pushes everything down, even though the link are given a position:absolute declaration.
The pertinent css:
[code]
div.mp3_span {margin-left:90px; width:600px; position:relative;
display: inline !important; height:1.5em !important;}
a.mp3_title {font: oblique small-caps normal 1em/1.5em Arial, sans-
serif; display: inline !important; position: absolute !important;
cursor: pointer; width:500px; outline: none;}a.mp3_title:hover
{cursor: pointer; outline: none;}
a.mp3_title:active {outline: none;-moz-outline-style: none;}
img.speaker {border:none !important ;cursor:pointer; position:static !
important; vertical-align:top; }[/code]
I can't seem to do no matter what css I apply, and, of course, I' rather not hack the jquery script. So again - how can I keep the text animation without having the following elements getting pushed down?
