I've got an embedded system that uses a javascript-enabled browser as a
front end.
The input system consists of an encoder which generates + and - chars, and
a couple of keys that generate Tab and Shift-Tab for navigation.
Each field in the form is numerical, and has certain properties; for
example, one field represents %, and has a min of 0, a max of 100, and
increments of 1.
I need to come up with some javascript code that would take take those +
and - chars, and increment/decrement the field values so that the user can
'dial in' the value they need....
I am making a LOVE IT button using php and jquery and i have most of it working...
The button currently returns the value from the DB of 0 but when i click the button it wont save the incremented value to the DB.
see it here[URL]
my code is this
<?php mysql_connect("localhost", "web183-loveit", "password") or die ("Error."); mysql_select_db("web183-loveit") or die ("error"); $increase = "UPDATE results SET value=value+1 WHERE id=1;";
I need to make an HTML button whose value is "Times clicked: 0" and every time the user clicks it the value increments the number so it will say "Times clicked: 1" after clicked and so on. I don't know if a javascript function is the best way to do this, I know how to change the value on click but I don't know how to make it increment only the number
<INPUT NAME="myButton" TYPE="button" VALUE= " (I don't know what to put here) " onclick=increment()> <script type="text/javascript"> function increment() { document.myForm.myButton.value= (how do I make it increment?) </script>
I'm kind of at a lose this is my first foray into using a multi-dimensional array and I've run into a snag. for some reason the second dimension always seems to end up being the last value of the second dimension of the array ie: in the case below the conditionArray[[0][1]] always ends up being 6.0 where it should be 1.0. Code:
I'm having an issue determining whether the mouse is increment or decrementing.
Code JavaScript: _self.mousedown(function(e) { var initialValue = parseInt($('#value').val()); var initialMouse = e.pageX;
[Code]....
As I move my mouse to the right, this returns true. When I move the mouse to the left, this still returns true; because the currentMouse value is still greater than the initialMouse value.
Simply put, I need to take a variable (The number '20' in this case) that is displayed by an input box on my web page and plug it into a function so that whenever I click on a button, the number in the input box will decrease by 1.
Seems simple enough, though for hours I've been going at it with no luck. Skipping the rest of my code - I currently have:
The entire code is a slot machine project that's supposed to be extremely simple where you hit the button and it spins 3 wheels, 3 of the same image and you win. Every spin takes $1, every win gives $13.
The majority of the code is already working, however for some reason I appear to be failing badly at getting the read out to show a decrement of $1 every time you push the button.
I've tried so many different ideas that I've found across w3schools, webdevelopersnotes, dave-reed, ect - and so far I haven't been able to get any of them to work correctly.
Last evening I ran across this script which I think will address a need I have; replacing my radio buttons with images. The one difference I have is that I need to use a different button image for each of the 5 buttons in my group.Unfortunately, the script dose not apply unique classnames within the generated mark-up so if I'm to use this I need to apply some sort of counting variable that increments and use this variable to append the classname with.Around line 52/53 of jquery.checkbox.js is
Code JavaScript:
/* Wrapping all passed elements */ return this.each(function() {
My requirement: Each time a visitor arrives at a specific webpage i want the main image on the page to be different, or more specifically, one of 6 images which will be shown in rotation. Solution: Set a cookie. Each time the visitor access the page read the cookie and display the corresponding image. Then increment the value and rewrite the cookie, so that next time they'll see the next image in sequence. NB: if the cookie does not exist (first timer) or is at 6, then the value is set to zero (and then incremented).
Problem: Can't get my coding to work. Specifically it just doesn't do anything - no error message, no cookie written. I'm a very novice scripter, as in I've cobbled the coding together from bits off the net that i think i've managed to grasp some kind of an understanding of. Very suck it and see - so far lots of sucking and no seeing!
I'm having trouble detecting if there is value in a field when the page loads and manipulating the fields label class accordingly. Below is my code. I'm using it to display the field label inline with the field, and when the user starts typing, the label is hidden. The problem I'm having is, since this is for a login screen, if the user has typed in an incorrect password, the username still remains entered when the page reloads and I see my label stacked underneath.
How can I detect if that field has a value and apply a class to the label to hide it? I don't have to have to specify each field by their ID, because I'd like to use this all over (member profile management area).
I'm using Google Maps to calculate distance between cities. I need to use that distance value for some basic calculations. Distance has to be in "Angloamerican" format (1,234.00) but in metric system. So, Google Maps answer for Madrid - Berlin query will be one of these two:
a) <span jscontent="distance['text']" jsdisplay="distance" jstcache="7">2.320,1 km</span> b) <span jscontent="distance.text" jstcache="23">2.320,1 km</span>
notice the differences in span "classes" (jstcache is 7 or 23) and lack of any "id" or "name" attributes.
What I want to accomplish is:
1) Convert these Google Maps distance values to "Angloamerican" format (2,320 km) or (even better) format without thousands separator which would only use dots as decimal separator (2320.1 km)
2) Use that filtered value to populate a text field called distance
Populate hidden form element value with the value of a text field on form submit (jQuery)
It helped me a bit with the auto-populate part, but I can't make it work in combination with this Google Maps code. Here is my current code:
<head> ... <script type="text/javascript"> function submitMyForm(){
The following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,
I am trying to make some dynamic effect to a HTML page using JQuery.<br/> 1.<br/> When the user clicks a Radio field, the field will be highlighted.<br/> 2.<br/> When the user clicks the Radio 'Man', <br/>a Input text box will be provided immeditely just below it.
Here is my simple HTML page, but I don't know how to do with the JQuery part:
that a javascript which is validating a phone number accepts only digits but if the text field is left empty it should accept the entry as an empty entry...
I want to create a javascript function where I have a dropdown list and onChage I want to update a txt field with the current date in the dd/mm/yyyy format.
however the validation still fails on the creditcard field. If I enter this in to Firefox's console:
$("#OForm").validate().element("#creditcard");
it returns false.
To make matters more confusing, this validation only fails on my form when I am passing a particular parameter in the URL string. I've scoured my code and cannot figure out why that parameter would have any impact whatsoever on this matter.
I have a text field, call it income, that when the input is > 0 I need to dynamically show the next text box, and if it is blank hide the next text box. I would like to use onBlur but can't seem to get it to work.
my javascript code is only validating one field at a time (as in it validates on field then submits the form, instead of going through the entire thing and then returning it as true and submitting it...) I'm not sure what to do to be honest, I've looked up google to no real avail.. my variables are declared in a seperate file to the actual even handlers and I have heaps of comments through out it, so please don't judge lol i'm still learning Quote:
//Event Registrations (Variable Declarations) found in validation_chkr.js //Validate Entire Form using validate_join() function validate_join()
i have a form with a 'name', 'date', 'type', 'style', 'color' and 'result' field.let's say the user inputs "jones" in the name field, "8/1/2011" in the date field, "new" in the type field, and 'modern' in the style field.i want the 'result' field to take a look at the 'name' field, and if the 'name' field has a particular text, let's say (in this case) "jones", the javascript code will then place the contents of 'date', 'type' and 'style' fields, along with hardwired text like "the information you are looking for is 'date', 'type' and 'style'" into the 'result' field.
So I have to ask some stupid questions and make sure that there is not something wrong in this simple syntax. I am trying to get input field attributes type and tagname by field ID. Heres the code..
Code JavaScript: var type = $('#' + input_id).attr('type'); var tag = $('#' + input_id).attr('tagName');
When I look in firebug I see there is the correct ID in input_id variable and that the input field with that id exists. But for tag and type variables I just get 'undefined' for reason unknown.. syntax is correct or?
Is there a way I can calculate a field in a form based on another field in the same form. When clicking submit, both values should be posted to the next page. I want to be able to type in a value in one field, and automatically in a second field the value*1,36 should appear.
Not exactly sure this is the right forum to post this but just to give it a shot.I am relatively new to programmming...I am currently working on a web appliation using MySQL DB and use PHP/SQL.I have a web form i have created. What i want to achieve is that when a user fills in one of the fields...a text field, i want 8 other fields to be AUTO filled with different values related to the one the user filled in
I have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything.To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.
I have 5 Numeric fields in my from, I am using onkeyup to check for numeric values only, now I have a total field also. I would like to have a sum of the values entered in the 5 fields to be shown automatically on this total field.
I have a site for property bookings with 2 calendars to enter start and end date. The calendar im using doesnt have any obvious facility to copy yhe date to 2 fields so each one has to be done, months in advance this can be a real pain.
Does anyone have any ideas how i can take the data inserted into one field and copy it to the second?
