Apr 14, 2011I have been playing with JavaScript few days now. I have a php script that returns data in XML. I want my Dashboard (html) page to show the response back from my php file. Since this is going to be a Dashboard hence it needs to refresh the content every second hence using JavaScript.
I want to get some guides, tutorials, or how-to for this. Any help would be much appreciated.
Here is what I get from my .php file if I do a POST method to it and define variable "extension=9999" to it code...
How can above be nicely presented in an HTML using JavaScript and how would this query be refreshed and re-POSTED every 1 second?
P.S. Amount of XML data coming back to me is dynamic. So, I don't know how much data I get back. Sometime nothing. Sometime 4 childs. Sometime 10 childs in the XML.

Dynamic Display Of Radio/Checkboxes
Jul 23, 2005I'm looking to display the value of radio buttons and check boxes on the
page before submission. So far I can do most of it. When "Hat" is checked
there are to be no color options available. Click on shirt or pants, you
have three options, (actually four if you chose "None"). Shirts and pants
can have multiple colors.
OK, here is the issue, if you choose a color then change your mind and then
un-check the box, it doubles up the 'display' on the page ("strCavTop"). I
want it to clear the 'display' ("strCavTop") of that one value if the box is
clicked to un-check it.
Is there another way to display the data other than a form text box, like a
table cell or something similar? I willing to bet there is a more
economical way to do this, so if there is I'm open to any suggestions. Code:
Dynamic Dropdown/listbox With Checkboxes?
Aug 10, 2010I'm struggling with a multiple select box I have that currently has an onchange that fires every time you make a selection, which then updates other form elements on the page. Works great. But it doesn't really give you time to select multiple items in the dropdown, just one select at a time. how to capture multiple selects with an onchange or I need to switch to a dropdown/list box that contains checkboxes -- but I haven't found a good php/javascript/ajax/jquery type of option. here is the form select element and function that gets called:

I had it "working" in JQTouch but JQuery Mobile looks a lot better, so I wanted to try it.1. I have a form with a list of flavors on it that you can mark as a favorite (checkbox).

B - The style is somewhat a little off. Because all these DIVs are next to each other (I've tested a few manually) they should all be in one GROUP of checkboxes, but with my current code - its like each one is an individual button. So the CSS isn't getting applied completely correctly.

Dynamic IFrame Height, Not Working In Ie Without Refresh?
Mar 3, 2007When i try to dynamically change the height of an iframe in ie through a java-script to match its content (a html page containing a flash movie, it doesn't resize the iframe at first, but when i reload the same page into the iFrame it resizes as planned, how come?This script works well in firefox, safari and netscape, but i cant get it to work in ie(8, 7). I have a flash menu in the first iframe, the buttons on the menu uses getURL(siteToLoad, "contents") to load another html-page into the iframe "contents". Is it possible to make the iFrame refresh automatically though javascript so that i just refreshes the iframe once? Everytime ive tried that it just ends up in a never ending refresh-loop... How can i make this work? Is there any better script for resizing (and refreshing after resize) the iframe height so that it matches to its content?

Aug 20, 2010I'm working on a project which requires a small portion from a large table of information to be displayed on a webpage (sort of like a magnifying glass). The display will be a table of fixed size (m by n cells). Some of the cells will be merged. When the table updates, different sets of cells may be merged.
It needs to be coded in HTML5, which I assume includes the use of JavaScript and CSS (The specs of this is rather unclear at the moment, so I'm going to cover all bases).
Anyhow, looking through the HTML5 and JavaScript tutorials, I found two ways to solve this problem. One way would be to have a script to parse out the relevant information, and have it output into a table (dynamically generating the HTML required).
The second way would be to have the script draw the table on its own in a canvas.
User events (such as arrow keys on the keyboard) will change the position of the focus (move the magnifying glass in a cardinal direction).
I hit a small snag with the first solution - Is it possible to update the table on the page (including changing the structure of it) without having to refresh?

I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code.
What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes.I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this).I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page.Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file.
Dynamic HTML Cross-browser
Jul 23, 2005I am brand-new to javascript, but after reading some tutorials online I
was able to make a dynamic HTML photo gallery in javascript. It works
fine in all browsers except IE6 (big surprise). I've been looking
around online for solutions, but the fixes I have seen don't seem to
work. I assume I am misunderstanding something... I was using
element.setAttribute but have changed my code to avoid that. Here is an
example. IE6 displays the link text but doesn't do anything else--exact
same result I had by using element.setAttribute('name', 'value').

CSS Not Rendering In Dynamic Areas Of An HTML Page - IE Only

rendering in dynamic areas of a page using IE.

HI There, We've created some example static html pages (using CSS)
that look great in IE. We are now converting these into dynamic pages
that use javascript to dynamically update certain areas of the page.
After the conversion the dynamic areas of the page do not render the
CSS styles (the styles are not displaying correctly). This only
happens in IE. The styles display correctly for other browsers
(firefox).
I am using the javascript DOM to update the dynamic areas of the site.
For example when creating a <atag that needs attribute
class=over....I add the following code.

linktag.setAttribute("class","over");
it's the class=over that is not rendering when the page is updated.
Has anyone seen this?

I need to select the top 3 best performace value in the column and then highlight the entire rows in different colours. Can any one help me in doing it?
My server can run only Javascript and coldfusion, No Ajax/PHP.
Hint : Something like a code to highlight a <tr id=#idx#> with this ID = #idx#.
Extracting Data Of A Dynamic Html Table Using DOM?

The problem is below javascript returns "null" always when retrieving the input field value? What I'm doing wrong here?

Mozilla Not Passing Dynamic Info - Image_up_index.HTML (0/1)
Jul 20, 2005I have a script that when a user selects an option from a select menu
the next select menu builds dynamically with information that relates
to the first menu selection. The menu builds dynamically, but the
values selected will not pass.
It is as if Mozilla will not recognize the menu since it was not
already built with the page.
Anybody have an answer? This is really keeping me from getting other
stuff done .
