I have a page I am working and I am having some trouble with: I need to show and hide areas based on a radio selection. I initally started using the show / hide feature in Jquery but the problem is the elements need to be removed but then put back if the user selects the radio buttonagain as it has form elements that have validaion on them. The validation is still trying to validate the form elements becuase they are still on the page but just not showing. This is the radio group the user makes the selection from:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have HTML tags stored in XML. I want to be able to use these HTML elements with Javascript, just as you can with elements in document.body. How can it be done? (And don't try and tell me I should use server-side because I have written it all for Javascript and the project is nearly complete minus this and there are practical reasons for not doing this server-side. After all, anything is possible with Javascript!)
Let me explain:
- I have HTML templates such as this [URL]
- I want javascript to populate these templates then add them to my page
- The only way I know javascript can get this kind of data is by parsing XML
- I want to parse the XML then be able to use the HTML elements just like those in document.body
- As far as I'm aware, XML is the only good way of storing data for javascript. I don't want to store it in javascript variables (too much multiline data with " and '). Nor do I want to build it using document.createElement("div")... etc
As someone not yet with any experience in computer science etc, please ignore my poor terminology! However, I'm not a beginner when it comes to javascript.

I use the below code to add or remove a row from a table using javascript. The code works fine on IE however it doesnt work on Firefox, can anybody suggest reasons why this might be doing so?
The id "table1" is the ID of the table I am trying to insert the innerhtml into.

In the following script all works fine except the "Remove all items".It adds and removes individual elements fine, but when I call the dropElems() function it removes up to the last 2. If I click it again, it removes only one.Finally, pressing one more time does remove all.I'm calling the same function to remove one element multiple times to remove all the elements, but it seems to stop short of the actual desired action.[code]
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm working on dynamic list with jQuery. I've appended hundreds of <li> elements with for loop to make very long list. When user scroll down again, remove older ones and append new ones at last of the list. I used$('li:lt(50)').remove() to remove first 5 elements from the list. At first, it works. But, for the second time, it always delete half of '50'. When I enter 100, only 50 elements deleted. How can it be? Could you check the ':lt(n)' selector and remove function? My HTML is very simple. only <UL> <LI> tags in the body. Tested on latest Chrome(ver.13.0.782), jQuery 1.6.2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using ajax to update options in several select forms.Its basically, like in most automotive applications, there is a drop down for brand...once selected, it will populate another select form with the "makes" of that brand. Once a make is selected.. it returns the models of that make... and ect...The program works fine for one selection. When one brand is selected, a second select box is populated with the correct makes of cars that brand produces, however, if the brand is changed, the select box with the makes of the cars is populated by the original query..twice... and then the second query. Looking for help on whats the best way to clear both the results array; i was using this...

and also clear out the select box, which is what the removeAllOptions() function is for. As it stands, if i use the removeAllOptions(), the makes are never populated.Here is my code, broken down the best i could, in order of process.. ish.A select form that shows the brands is displayed, once a choice is made, it passes the value of the choice into this function, which will query the database

This is where, the query is returned, each row is split into an individual array, and then the second element of those individual arrays are put into yet again another array.The elements of that array are then compared against eachother to make sure there are no duplicates, storing the non-duplicates into a new array. The final array is then passed into a select form, for the makes of the selected brand.

This is an example of what I currently have. There is also a button which adds more rows. It wasn't too hard to get it working using CSS and innerHTML:

However, due to mass css headaches with the layout, I' like to see if it can be done it tables instead and using the DOM methods (nodes, createElement etc)
so far, the examples I've seen either don't allow the same functionality or don't work across IE5+(win), and modern versions of FFox, Safari and Netscape (MAC + WIN)

I'm trying to allow users to add the text from a text input into a list, and then have the option of removing this list item. So far I have the code below which allows me to add a styled list item with a link in it which I would like to close the box when clicked but at the moment when I click it nothing is happening. I'm not sure if I'm approaching it correctly or if there is an error in my code.

I appended elements inside this div. But I want it where if a check box is checked then that element which is an a tag html element that will be removed.
The problem... when lets say append 3 <a> tag elements. when I remove all 3. Then append like 4.. I see like gaps. like I want it where if I delete the element it will float upwards. what that means that if I got 3 elements and I delete all 3 and then append 1 new one... then that new one should be shown at the top of the div. Not displayed a little bit lower then where the 3rd element we removed was located at.
It seems like that html code that is appended still stays there for some reason.
How can I remove all <div foo="whatver"...> div elements using the attribute foo for my selector? Basically any div with a foo attribute I want gone.

$(".emptyTopNavOption").parent().children().first().remove();
But when there are multiple classes, it only deletes the first element in its query. As a successful test, I appended some CSS to ensure the query selected all classes and added a border to each element. So why does remove() not work? Is it a bug or is my query missing something?

i have a var ids = [] that returns some id's. for example

the variable ids will be return 11,12. what i want to do is to find those <li>'s with those id's and remove them.

I already solved the problem but I am not sure if what I did is an efficient one. The thing I did was clone the first child of the form. But I realized that if I would put text inside the first child of the for, the duplicate field will also contain the same text as the first child which I don't want to happen. This is why, I set the display of the first child of the form as none. I am not sure if this would cause some problem when I would submit the whole form so that the inputs will be saved in the database since the first child is empty. I was thinking that as the form will be submitted, I would just remove the first child.
