I have a website with a dropdown menu of brands, these brands are pulled from the database and then display products matching the particular brand.The only problem with this is that google is viewing the dropdown data and it looks VERY spammy, its basically a huge list of keywords.Is there anyway I can stop google from seeing this data so that it doesnt get indexed and is just purely for my visitors to use?
I am trying to populate data from an xml file when a certain catergory from the dropdown menu is selected. The dropdown menu is also populated from a xml source different from the one where the data is stored that needs to be pulled. so when a category is selected from the dropdown - the selected value will populate the data from the xml source. I am having trouble displaying the data when a category is selected from the drop down menu.
I've got a dropdown and I need for it to open up a row directly below it if the user selects "Yes". I've tried all morning and cant get it to work at all.
I have a project where I need a selection of one dropdown menu may affect the select of multiple other dropdown menus on the same page.First, a table is generated, and within each row, it contains a dropdown menu. Assume: Rows A, B, C, etc..., and Dropdown selection: 1, 2, & 3If dropdown in Row A selects 2, then I want the selection of dropdowns in rows B & C to dynamically change to 2.And if in Row C user selects 3, then the selection in dropdowns in rows A & B should dynamically change to 3.
i am building a website form which I would like the user to select a product of interest. Some products are three tiered and some are two tiered.
1. Example of three tier (3 dropdowns required only):Scooters (dropdown 1)Three Wheel Scooters (dropdown 2) Delux 503S Bird Scooter (dropdown 3)
2. Example of two tier (2 dropdowns required only):Standing Bikes (dropdown 1)Children 300 Series (dropdown 2)
If the user wants to submit their interest for one of the products, I need to have at most 3 dropdown menus. So in Example 1, I would have 3 dropdowns in my form. Dropdown 1: Scooters Dropdown 2: Three Wheel Scooters Dropdown 3: Delux 503S Bird Scooter.In Example 2, I would only need to use the first 2 dropdown menus. (Obviously the first dropdown would contain 'Scooters' and 'Standing Bikes' in the menu list)I would like to alter the code so that the second and third dropdowns are hidden until a selection from the first drop down is made. Once for example, 'Standing Bikes' is selected from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown menu appears and the third remains hidden due to the fact that it is not required. If I selected Scooters from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown would appear listing all items associated with this and at this point the third dropdown menu is hidden. If i select 'Three Wheel Scooter' from the second dropdown the third dropdown menu now appears listing all Three wheel Scooters such as 'Delux 503S Bird Scooter'.
I am creating a simple web form and am having trouble with a quick jQuery script I am using. A few of the fields on my form are not needed if the topic is not "Get a Quote" so I have a script that hides them if "Get a Quote" is not selected in a dropdown box. I does hide them if I select something else but when I go back to "Get a Quote" the fields do not reappear. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#CAT_Custom_169338").change(function(){ if ($(this).val() == "Get A Quote" ) { $(".showmore").slideDown("fast"); //Slide Down Effect } else { $(".showmore").slideUp("fast"); //Slide Up Effect }});});
How do Google and Bing allow you to use the keyboard up and down keys to jump to the suggested search results. I know how to do the Ajax search part, I just can't figure out how to get the search suggestions selected, and fire their HREF tag upon clicking the Enter button. Basically I can do all this without any keyboard navigation but I need to hook in the keyboard like they do.Is there a simple example somewhere? Google and Bing's are super complex and I can't snoop how they pull it off.
I actually want to make a horizontal drop down menu with a sub menu.As far as I have researched, I think that it can be done by JavaScript. I have searched for some java scripts but they are very long and complex.
That made me wonder that for a funcitonality like a Drop down is so complex?
So here is my question : Is there any JavaScript that can be applied for drop down menu exclusively? Which just presents logic of drop down solely?
I have some jquery running on a menu (here ) but before jquery loads, the content (all of the <li>'s) appear, then disappear once jquery loads. Is there a way to stop the brief displaying of the <li>'s?
I want to make a dynamic menu where the items being shown depends on the access of the user. I tried having a code in codebehind of my aspx page that will set a certain li to style display none, but when viewed in IE6 I get a white space within the menu.
I am looking for a way of hiding a submenu and the rolling over an image which is the menu item. It will trigger the submenu to slide down. It needs to be hidden to start and visible when the user rolls over the image. I have tried numerous scripts. All seem to have one bug or another.
I am new to jQuery and can't get this to work properly. I am loading content form a php page through an AJAX call. Based on the data that is returned I want to fade in a DIV or keep it hidden. Therefore I have a if construction that checks the data that was inserted in a DIV from the PHP page. If the PHP page returned 'No data' the DIV should remain hidden. The loading part works OK, but somehow the hiding or showing of the DIV doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? Is the syntax correct? This is what I have now:
I am really new to coding and am trying to include a flowchart that I have created on my site. There is a series of 5 questions with 2 possible answers for each question. Can anyone help me with some coding that would let me show only the first question and based on how they answer that, the flow chart would open up to the second question and once they answer the second question, it opens up to the third question and so on?
Is it possible, to hide the menubars of a browser, if the window is already opened? I want to post a html-form to a "_blank" target (new window). This new window should have no Menubars.
I got this here: [URL]. When you hover over the Buy Rhoadanide or Research the sub menu comes up. The only way I could get it to work was to make the OTHER menu hide if one is hovered over, but I cant hide them anymore Is there a way to do this: 1. Hover Link 2. Show Div with more links below it 3. Keep the Divs visible if the Hover Link or the Div is hovered 4. Hide the Divs when both are not selected.

I have a menu with a div displaying onmouseover, and hiding onmouseout, it works great except in IE if I click on the <select> tag, it triggers the mouseout event, interestingly enough the same does not happen when I click on a text field..
Code Example:
This is obviously not the real code, it's just to give you an idea, I don't think I can post the real code, cuz it's really long and complicated...
I'm using the prototype framework, and I'd like to keep it that way if possible...
I am trying to create a basic menu where if you put your mouse over a button you get a bit of descriptive text or an image appearing somewhere else on the page. I have tried to do this with hiding/revealing hidden divs - works fine with IE but no others.
<html> <head> <script language="javascript"> var descriptions = new Array(); descriptions[0] = "<p>See whats been added to the web site recently</p>"; descriptions[1] = "<p>Find out more about me</p>"; descriptions[2] = "<p>Check out me links</p>"; function showDescription(descriptionIndex){ .....
Basically, I need the script to hide two divs if one of the options in a <select> menu is selected.
Here's the code I've got for the Javascript: function typeoflisting() { var selectform = document.getElementById('propertytype'); if (selectform.options[selectedIndex].value == "sell") {
I am working on creating a map using the google maps API. I would like to update the markers and info windows using an XML database. I know how to parse the XML using PHP if I was just going to create a table on the page, but for the life of me I can't find a complete and simple description of how to do it with javascript. I've been reading tutorials and W3 schools reference for over a week trying to figure it out. I'm new to javascipt, so some of the stuff I don't really understand. I did find a similar question posted on this forum, although I can't get it working. Here is my code (note: this code doesn't work, I know that I'm missing some way to load the xml and parse it, but I don't see how its done):
I am in the process of creating a site for real estate listings optimized for a mobile environment. One of the features that is desired would be a google map that loads listings as the user drags. One of the catches to this is that very few listings have included latitude and longitude values. Therefore, every time I need to add a listing to the map I first need to geocode it. Now with a few listings this is not really a big deal. However, the end goal would be to show all listings within the current bounds.Which depending on the zoom level could be anywhere from a hand full to several hundred.owever, when I attempt to load say 100 listings to the map it pretty much freezes and is fairly buggy after wards.
That said I was wondering if there is a better way to handle this. Perhaps submitting the listings as places with a CRON and having markers generated automatically? I am just trying to think how I can achieve this in a way which doesn't kill a mobile phone because it seems impossible considering there could be over 5000 listings in bounds of the map area. The only real solution I have is to only show say 30 or so and use pagination for the next 30 and so one within bounds.The ultimate goals is when the map bounds change ALL listings will show up within that bounds. The way I have currently approached this is that when the user stop dragging the map a asynchronous request pulls in ALL listings within bounds as an XML those full addresses are geocoded and added to the map. However, this is wrecking havok on the browser and I am not even going to try it in a mobile environment considering its dragging a desk top down. I'm thinking this is less and practical and pagination has to be used but perhaps someone out there has dealt with a similar objective.
