IE - Menu With A Div Displaying Onmouseover - Hiding Onmouseout
Jun 23, 2011
I have a menu with a div displaying onmouseover, and hiding onmouseout, it works great except in IE if I click on the <select> tag, it triggers the mouseout event, interestingly enough the same does not happen when I click on a text field..
Code Example:
This is obviously not the real code, it's just to give you an idea, I don't think I can post the real code, cuz it's really long and complicated...
I'm using the prototype framework, and I'd like to keep it that way if possible...
I'm working on a couple of pages that look like this: [URL] As the visitor mouses over the month name, the image to the right is supposed to change to show the cover of that month's magazine issue. The onmouseover/onmouseout code has been working fine for months, but I recently added a couple new JS elements to the page, and now when the visit stops hovering over Sep/Oct, the image doesn't change.
I'm thinking that the way to fix this is by converting this action to jQuery, which is loaded on the page anyway, but I'm struggling to get a concise expression of what I want to happen. That is, I can do it by brute force with dozens of lines of code, but there must be a better way.
How can I add an onMouseout event to this code? I have only used this script with the onClick enent. If there is a simpler way, please let me know that. Code:
I've been implementing a drop menu in javascript, and I'm finding it difficult to understand why the event bubbling system is implemented as it is. In summary, I want an event to occur when the mouse enters/exits a large div or table that contains many descendent elements.
It appears to me, from experimenting with IE6 and Moz 5, that the event is generated *only* on the lowest element, thus given a table which contains tbody, tr and tds, with an onmouseover listener assigned to the table element (as a property), the onmouseover event is generated only for the td, although the mouse actually entered all these elements.
If there is a slight gap between elements you sometimes get events for the higher element. I guess this is a side-effect of the browser's implementation - sampling the mouse position.
My understanding of event bubbling from "JavaScript the definitive guide" is that events should bubble up the heirarchy unless they are stopped by the stopPropagation() method.
This is probably very simple but I really cant find the answer. I have a text box, and I am wanting the same mouseover and onclick functionality as Money Supermarket; [URL]... When I rollover the text box/table row then I want the area to display one colour and when I roll off then it goes back to normal. However, when I click on it I also want it to display the colour and remain that way until I click another element. How do I achieve this?
I am trying to build my first interface using jQuery. I will have some icons on the page. When user hovers the mouse on an image, it should display a list of menu options (some more icons). Like:
Ive got a form that is made of <feildsets>'s that when the user clicks submit it will validate the form before submitting it properly.
If an error is encountered it will display an error image and a user friendly error message. This code works fine However, theres a restet button, that when the user clicks it, it should wipe the form, and hide the error message. Code:
I want to make my drop down box similar to the one seen at [URL]
The menu links act as normal links but will drop down to a div box when a person hovers over the link. The box will appear when the person hovers it but SHOULD disappear once the person does not hover over the box anymore. So if the person hovers over another link, the box should disappear. I added a delay timeout to one of my div boxes and the box stays alive for a couple of seconds but then closes back up again even though I'm still hovering over it.
My js:
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function drop(which) {
When you click the text "info" in the column "comments", a row should be displayed below with text information that is related to the "comments". Need also to click the text "Info" again to hide the text information of comments. Problem: I don't know how to display the row when you click one of the comments with the text "info". When clicking one of the link the remaining rows with the text "info" should not be affected. In order words, the part should be independent Need also some help hiding the text information of comments.
There are some things that you also need to take account to: - The amount of data that will be displayed in the table will be changed from day to day. The data is taken from a xml file.- Would like the sourcode to be written in jQuery.- Only html, css and javascript is allowed in this context.- html code in tr and td will be generated by javscript code.The class "firstDataRow" is the added in the tr row that has the text information of commentsPlease remember that the text hide and show is only for temporary.
Getting myself back into jQuery and have an issue which I didn't previously fix, and was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me. I have multiple DIVs (up to 50 on one page) that I wish to individually be able to hide and close an extra DIV once pressing the 'Details' to show, and 'Hide' to hide the extra hidden DIV.
I have enabled a hover() event on a DIV that includes an H2 element that is always displayed and a child DIV that needs to be shown/hidden. This code works wonderfully on Firefox and IE. However, it's not working in Safari (I have not tested Opera or Chrome yet)Here's my (very simple) code:
I am trying to display three different types of forms of the same page. One of the three will appear based on the selection. Right now my code has everything shown when you first reload the page and then when you select something it all disappears and nothing comes back. I am trying to use divs because the forms will perform the same action just with different parameters. It is a lot of code but the forms are the same thing just wrapped in a different div and I know they work. hopefully this will cut down on the amount of time you have to look at it.
Below is what I have so far: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function choose() { document.getElementById('notes').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('tests').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('homework').style.display = 'none'; .....
The objective is to create a stacked, inline vertical menu. Upon mousing over a menu option, a series of sublinks (children) presents itself immediately beneath the parent. The children push the rest of the menu options downward. We're ok up to this point.
Should the mouse pointer point to another menu option, the children of the former menu option pointed at disappear and the new children are displayed. We're still ok. Here's the code I use to accomplish this: Code:
I would like to be able to display either one or the other HTML table in the same place. I.e., there are 2 buttons on the screen. When the user clicks one button, the table A is displayed below. When the user clicks the other button, the table A disappears and the table B appears in the same place.
When I use the classic div tags followed by table code, they are displayed sequentially on the page, rather than in the same place.
I have a div (representing a form) with a number of images positioned absolutely within it. The images represent buttons and what I'd like to do is click on one of the images/buttons and the whole form to fade out with the exception of the selected button which merely changes it's opacity from 1 to 0.5 (to remind the user it was clicked). Here's the code I'm using:
However, despite referencing the elements in a number of ways (they have unique id's), every time I run this, $(this) won't show - the opacity is being set but it seems to remain steadfastly invisible whilst the parent div is invisible/hidden - am I barking up completely the wrong tree here ?
I have a simple mouseover menu using style.visibility property(hide/show). My question is how do I hide all menus other then the one I moused over? Also I have a onmouseover and onmouseout for the image that shows the menu when you mouseover it, how do I keep the image showing when moused over it and mousing over the menu that it shows?
I'm using code below to run a function when the user move the mousepointer from within a DIV and outside it:The idea is that that mousepointer motion shall hide the DIV.
Code:
document.getElementById(theID).onmouseout = hideDiv; if (document.getElementById(theID).captureEvents) document.getElementById(theID).captureEvents(Event.MOUSEOUT);
It kind of works, but the problem is that if I move the mousepointer to fast out of the DIV then it will not trigger.The div in question has some elements within it, and originally it was allmost fully covered by those element... and then the onmouseout did not work that good....So I had to create some padding for the div to make it detect the onmouseout better... kind of work... but sometimes failes to trigger on the onmouseout.That padding also make the div not look that good ... so would like to get rid of all the padding as well, and make it work, if possible.I have tested this in the following browsers and get pretty much same behaviour in them all:IE8, Firefox (latest), Chrome (latest), Safari for win (latest beta)...
I'm having a problem with .attr(). I will explain it whith code.I have this HTML code:
<p id="textoMarca0" onmouseover="muestraDialog('textoMarca0');"> this is an example paragraph </p>
[code]....
So now the onmouseover has again its value [the original one, copied by doing an alert($("#"+elem+i).attr('onmouseover')) when i disable the onmouseover event], but it doesn't work
On some pc's in IE my website shows disbehaviour with the popup-menu. When your mousepointer hoovers over the transparent border, the popupmenu disappears. Please check URL.... Perhaps if you visit the website with Internet Explorer you can see what I mean, but it might be showing good as well.The menu is made with very little javascript and mainly CSS. I discovered the begin of the cause: when I don't use a transparent color for the border, it works fine. Also when I remove the underlying image (the sky-image) and still use transparent color it also works fine. How can this be? Using Z-index for the popup-window/menu and give it a real high number won't work. I really don't see it. Ofcourse I want to keep using the transparent color and the underlying image.[code]
I have some jquery running on a menu (here ) but before jquery loads, the content (all of the <li>'s) appear, then disappear once jquery loads. Is there a way to stop the brief displaying of the <li>'s?
I want to make a dynamic menu where the items being shown depends on the access of the user. I tried having a code in codebehind of my aspx page that will set a certain li to style display none, but when viewed in IE6 I get a white space within the menu.
I am looking for a way of hiding a submenu and the rolling over an image which is the menu item. It will trigger the submenu to slide down. It needs to be hidden to start and visible when the user rolls over the image. I have tried numerous scripts. All seem to have one bug or another.
Is it possible, to hide the menubars of a browser, if the window is already opened? I want to post a html-form to a "_blank" target (new window). This new window should have no Menubars.
