Plot In Html

Jul 20, 2005

I need to create a real-time line plot on an html page, without
resorting to java, cgi, or anything server-side or offline. I think
maybe this could be done with javascript, or dhtml, and most likely
macromedia flash - what may be the best choice for a clean and
portable design?

Plot A Line Using Given Variables ?

Dec 13, 2010

I am trying to plot a line using the variables that I have derived in this "rectangular to polar" conversion program. I am just new to javascript and to programming generally. But with the help of sample codes here.

I have read that drawing in javascript isn't so easy. Could you give me some hints on how to draw the following variable in polar coordinates. Do I need to use another programming language aside from javascript ?

XML Data To Google Maps?

Oct 1, 2010

I am working on creating a map using the google maps API. I would like to update the markers and info windows using an XML database. I know how to parse the XML using PHP if I was just going to create a table on the page, but for the life of me I can't find a complete and simple description of how to do it with javascript. I've been reading tutorials and W3 schools reference for over a week trying to figure it out. I'm new to javascipt, so some of the stuff I don't really understand. I did find a similar question posted on this forum, although I can't get it working. Here is my code (note: this code doesn't work, I know that I'm missing some way to load the xml and parse it, but I don't see how its done):

Plot And Attach Pixels To A Scrolling Image

Jun 25, 2009

I have an img of a map of Europe in a div. I want to plot routes between cities in Europe as dotted lines. The image is scrollable and I want the routes to scroll with the image. So the routes should be attached to the image. Furthermore, when drawing routes outside of the viewable area, the routes should be clipped so they don't show up outside of the image. but when the image is scrolled, the routes should appear.

Here's a link to the dev site: [url]

Using Google Map W/ Large Data Sets?

Jul 6, 2011

I am in the process of creating a site for real estate listings optimized for a mobile environment. One of the features that is desired would be a google map that loads listings as the user drags. One of the catches to this is that very few listings have included latitude and longitude values. Therefore, every time I need to add a listing to the map I first need to geocode it. Now with a few listings this is not really a big deal. However, the end goal would be to show all listings within the current bounds.Which depending on the zoom level could be anywhere from a hand full to several hundred.owever, when I attempt to load say 100 listings to the map it pretty much freezes and is fairly buggy after wards.

That said I was wondering if there is a better way to handle this. Perhaps submitting the listings as places with a CRON and having markers generated automatically? I am just trying to think how I can achieve this in a way which doesn't kill a mobile phone because it seems impossible considering there could be over 5000 listings in bounds of the map area. The only real solution I have is to only show say 30 or so and use pagination for the next 30 and so one within bounds.The ultimate goals is when the map bounds change ALL listings will show up within that bounds. The way I have currently approached this is that when the user stop dragging the map a asynchronous request pulls in ALL listings within bounds as an XML those full addresses are geocoded and added to the map. However, this is wrecking havok on the browser and I am not even going to try it in a mobile environment considering its dragging a desk top down. I'm thinking this is less and practical and pagination has to be used but perhaps someone out there has dealt with a similar objective.

JQuery :: How To Get Data From Google Spreadsheet JSON

Nov 2, 2010

I am new to jquery and JavaScript in general and I want to access data in Google Spreadsheet. So at first I published a spreadsheet to be able to retrieve a JSON feed like mentioned here: Simple example of retrieving JSON feeds from Spreadsheets Data APINow I can get a JSON-File - the specific file is this: My Google Spreadsheet JSON

But I was not able to display any data as of now. My code looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html><head>
<title>the title</title>
<script src="[URL]" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery.noConflict(); // probably I need this because in the JSON-feed there are $t-objects
jQuery.getJSON("[URL]", function listEntries(json) {
var content = document.createTextNode(json.feed.entry[2].title.$t);
jQuery("p.inhalt").append(content);
});});
</script></head><body>
<p class="inhalt"></p>
</body></html>
So if this looks like noob-code - it is. How the code should look like if a wanted to access the data in the spreadsheet?

JQuery :: Load A Flot Chart Inside A Tab - Invalid Dimensions For Plot

Jun 24, 2009

I am trying to load a jquery chart (Flot) inside the second tab of jQuery tabs. It works fine on the opening tab, but if i bury the chart in any tab, it breaks and throws the js error "Invalid dimensions for plot..."I looked around and the problem might be that because the second tab is hidden at page load, it is breaking something... I dug up a possible jquery fix/plugin called frameReady, which allows for you to load iframes, but I am not sure how to apply it.

Google Maps Adding A Second Google Map To A Page

Apr 7, 2011

I'm not sure where I have translated this incorrectly. I have one google map embedded on my page which works fine. But I wanted to add a second one. I thought the easiest way to do this would be to have a second page which is called later on with all the details on it for the second map. However although I think (this I presume is where I went wrong) I have replicated the instructions correctly the place holder for the second map just remains blank.

This is the code for my called page with the instructions for the second map:

And this is the script of the main page, just in case I would be better off keeping them both in one place.

<head>

I've cut out the script that doesn't relate to this so I hope I haven't missed anything important.

JQuery :: Using .ajax() To Access Cross-domain Data Using JSONP - Able To Cache The Data

Jun 27, 2011

I am using .ajax() to access cross-domain data using JSONP. Because I need to be able to cache the data I want to use a static name for thejsonpCallback function, so I have set the jsonpCallback option in the .ajax() request. However that appears to requires a global function whereas the auto generated function didn't (well maybe it did but that was all hidden from me).

I definitely need to be able to cache the results. Ideally I wouldn't have a global function handling the data. Is there another way to do this? If not what is the best practice way to go about using a global function these days and how do I provide it with the context of the object/module it was called from - which is where the data is needed?

JQuery :: Form Data Not Displaying In Textarea On Subsequent Return Of Data From A Call?

Oct 5, 2011

Relatively new to jQuery but have a problem with getting data to display.Using a webform with 2 forms. User slects and inputs data into the first form, clicks a button then using jQuery .ajax submits the serialized data to a php script. The script processes the input into multiple paragraphs of text which is based on the input from the first form.The data is returned to the webpage and displayed in a text area (of the 2nd form) where the user can edit it to fine tune the wording. The 2 forms are displayed in different tabs so it is easy to move back and forward between the 2 forms.

The problem occurs when the user goes back to the first form and enters or selects different text and then click the submit button to generate a whole new text for insertion into the textarea on the second form. For certain fields the modified text is displayed.However if the whole of the text in the textarea is deleted, then the user clicks the submit button to re-generate the text content area then nothing at all is ever interted into the textarea. If have user alert to check that data is returned from the php handler and this text is correct. BUT when I click on the tab to see the textarea (id is "draftrec") there is no text inserted. The relevant function is below and the line that should insert the text into the textarea is:

$("textarea#draftrec").html(data).show();
//------------------------------------------------------
$("form#form1").submit(function(e){

JQuery :: Using .data() On Element With HTML5 Data Attributes?

Oct 18, 2010

I am trying to try jQuery 1.4.3 updated .data() method with HTML5 data attributes. The way I understood these changes is that an element with these attributes would automatically have their data populated by .data(). For example, if I have an element:

<ahref="#" data-cheese="cheddar">DataElement</a>

I can access this with .data('cheddar'). This part works fine. The issue I am having is that calling JUST data like $(this).data() just produces an empty object. Is this how it should be expected to function?

Compare Incoming JSON Data To The Existing Data?

Sep 9, 2011

I'm trying to compare incoming JSON data to the existing data to see if there are any changes, but for giant objects like:

Code:
[{"date":"2011-09-03 23:06:03","notifier_id":"1","type":"1","unread":"0"},{"date":"2011-09-05 00:37:46"}]
if (JSON.stringify(oldData) == JSON.stringify(newData))

This doesn't seem to work. I've tried using:

Code:
escape("'" + JSON.stringify(W.notification.list + "'"))
but that ignores the objects properties and returns something like 22%5Bobject%20Object%5D%2C%5Bobject

Google And Obfuscation

If obfuscation isn't all that good, why does Google obfuscate its
search results' code? Okay, I realize they're a commercial entity and
need to do it. How do they do it?

Could anyone out there decipher and normalize code for a Google search
result page? And despite the obfuscation, why is Google so fast?

I also get the feeling sites like Google and Facebook manage to create
better thumbnails on the fly. Any idea how?
