Dual Dropdown Doesn't Refresh?
Apr 14, 2009I have this code that I use to display and grab data from 2 tables in mysql into 2 dropdown menus.
When I select in dropdown menu 1 an item (with ID in database, the first table has fields: ProgrammaID, Programma).
Then in de second dropdown menu the particulair item with this same ID as the selected one in menu 1 need to be shown. The second table has fields: ProjectID, ProgrammaID, Project.
The ProgrammaID from table1 is also in table2 (designed by our previous designer).
Now I can select an item from dropdown menu 1 but the second dropdown menu isn't shown the items as should be.

Refresh Page And Keep A Dropdown Menu Open?
Sep 7, 2011I'm trying to achieve a notification feature which you see on facebook, myspace and so on. Here the trick that I use:I've pulled a number of data that a user has not been read (where active ='0') from a database to display on a notification icon on the menubar -- the exact notification icon you will see on facebook and myspace -- says 2 unread messages in bright red.As the user click on the notification button to open up a dropdown menu and read their unread messages I process the script and update the active = '0' to active = '1' and refresh the page.The problem is when the page is refreshed, the dropdown menu and the notification both disappeared.How do I remove only that number in red and keep the dropdown menu open, I know that both facebook and myspace didn't even refresh a page.In this case, I don't even know whether I use javascript or ajax. I've stolen (borrowed) the feature from twitter.

Apr 7, 2009I have a mysql database (name) which helds 3 fields, id, naam, email. In php I've made the connection and create a selection menu and with javascript I was able to display, (when I selected for example "Bas" in the selection menu), bas his name into a first input text field. Now a couple of things I still want but can't seem to get it right.
First: I also want to display "bas" his email address in a second input text field. (the database contains more names, but this an example).
Second: The selection menu starts with the first name in the database, but can I make it for example "Select name" as beginning.

Dynamic Input Fields When Dropdown Value Selected
Apr 10, 2009I am having a form with a drop down and want to display the fields below it based on the drop down value selected. For example: my form has a drop down <select value> <values: A, B ,C, D) when I select A then I should get displayed a set of fields (like input fields, drop down fields etc) just below the main drop down and when I choose B then it should display a set of fields specific to B and like that. What technology / script to use this to achieve this. I have also attached the sample html page.

Sep 27, 2010So i have a form with fields (30+), and about 5 of them are fields that need to pass into my dropdown (actually a dynmaic dropdown, select SOURCE, then whatever source u select it'll show options that are mysql source=$source), so it can go into my mysql query, and filter out the best results. (i.e date_of_birth, min_credits, state, etc). Needs to be done without submitting, hence javascript. Im echo'ing my query and its saying the variables i'm trying to pass are UNDEFINED. Am I not passing the vars correctly? do i need to prep the vars to "grab" them in the current field?

The only var that is passing is SOURCE, and that's because its the name of the first dropdown
i need to set up like a GET method on my RECEIVING page? or can i just pass variables through? Do i need to get the "existing" data in the fields first?

JQuery :: Hiding Fields When (Get A Quote) Not Selected In Dropdown Box
Dec 2, 2010I am creating a simple web form and am having trouble with a quick jQuery script I am using. A few of the fields on my form are not needed if the topic is not "Get a Quote" so I have a script that hides them if "Get a Quote" is not selected in a dropdown box. I does hide them if I select something else but when I go back to "Get a Quote" the fields do not reappear.

Activate/Deactivate Fields Based On A Dropdown Selection?
Apr 29, 2010On a registration form I have 4 fields that are all dropdown select fields. NAME, CLASS-1, CLASS-2, CODE
1) I would like to activate the CLASS-1, CLASS-2, CODE fields only if the NAME IS Selected from the dropdown.
2) Also would like to make the CLASS-1, CLASS-2 as required fields if the NAME is selected from the dropdown.
How can I achieve this? Can I use some kind of a server event to activate / deactivate the fields on the form?

This code works well as long as the two drop-downs are independent of each other. The result table has VenueName as an element, so each venue has a set of result records in the result table. This is how I want to change it: The Venue dropdown will remain as it is. Once the Venue Name is selected I want the result dropdown to populate with ONLY the result records containing a match on VenueName that was selected in the venue dropdown. How do I do that? Is it with a onChange Event? What are the changes that need to be made? How do I communicate to the second drop-down what was selected in the Venue drop-down??

The script works great, BUT I need to use it in 2 different areas of the same form. It only works on an id="selectMenu" and of course I cannot have more that 1 id.
How can I get this script to work in multiple select fields? (at least more than 1)
Refresh Parent From IFrame Makes Refresh Loop In FF Only?
Jan 2, 2009I have this code in a page that appears in my iframe if requested from parent:

So, the person clicks a link from the parent, it does a php process in a hidden iframe, which then tells the parent page to refresh. The only problem is that it puts Firefox in a constant loop of refreshing. IE and Chrome work fine. They refresh once and stop.
Though the src code opens the iframe like so: <iframe src="" style="display:none; height:1px;" name="hdplus" id="hdplus"></iframe> Firefox seems to refresh the page with the memory of the child page being in the iframe, constantly looping the child request to refresh the parent.
Why won't Firefox just accept that no page should load in the iframe, as stated in the code? I need to stop this loop, which means I need to get firefox to reset the iframe as it reloads the page.

Jul 20, 2005I have multiple fields in a form with the same name. Lets call the fields with the same name "junk_array". My first field of junk_array is a input type=hidden. All the others fields in junk_array that follow are type=text. I can reference this first hidden field in IE with document.form.field[0].value. In, fact my form works absolutely wonderful in IE 6. However, netscape 4.7 does not recognize my first field in the array as the hidden field. Netscape sees the first visible text field as the first field in the array, subscript 0. What totally and utterly perplexes me, is that, from a previous thread, I can do this and get 9999 back in an alert
box in Netscape and IE. So, this proves Netscape doesn't have some evil code that disregards hidden fields. I guess...

I even copied these fields directly below the opening <form> tag in my form and both Netscape and IE see the first hidden field as as

However, my form is much more complicated. I have tables within tables and about 30 other fields. In my form I cannot for the life of me get Netscape to recognize the first hidden field of junk_array to zed as index 0.
Somehow, If I make the first type=hidden fields visible, netscape does work nicely. Why when I toggle type=hidden to type=text does Netscape cooperate. What is happening here? Anyone else have this problem with hidden fields in Netscape? I could post the code to my form but it is
big.

I'm trying to pass the value of this dropdown to a function and enable another dropdown(and in the future create the populated dropdown based on this choice). If the original 'Select...' option is chosen it will then hide that second dropdown. In the following code the function actually resides in a js file which has been imported and is working properly. I have tried this as text and as value and both seem to be passing a null value regardless of the option selected.
