Form Data

May 29, 2007

I have a MAINFORM with a pop-up form link and a textfield

The POPUPFORM displays 3 columns

(1) Description : (2) £Charge : (3) Checkbox

Each charge will be different for the various descriptions.
A user needs to be able to select from 1 or more checkboxes then press
submit.

When the form is submitted, the form/page is closed and the charges
for each item selected are totalled and dumped into a textfield on the
MAINFORM.

I have the Mainform and the Popupform, but do not know how to take all
the selected values (from column 'x' , total them and put the total in
the textfield on the Mainform ?

JQuery :: Form Data Not Displaying In Textarea On Subsequent Return Of Data From A Call?

Oct 5, 2011

Relatively new to jQuery but have a problem with getting data to display.Using a webform with 2 forms. User slects and inputs data into the first form, clicks a button then using jQuery .ajax submits the serialized data to a php script. The script processes the input into multiple paragraphs of text which is based on the input from the first form.The data is returned to the webpage and displayed in a text area (of the 2nd form) where the user can edit it to fine tune the wording. The 2 forms are displayed in different tabs so it is easy to move back and forward between the 2 forms.

The problem occurs when the user goes back to the first form and enters or selects different text and then click the submit button to generate a whole new text for insertion into the textarea on the second form. For certain fields the modified text is displayed.However if the whole of the text in the textarea is deleted, then the user clicks the submit button to re-generate the text content area then nothing at all is ever interted into the textarea. If have user alert to check that data is returned from the php handler and this text is correct. BUT when I click on the tab to see the textarea (id is "draftrec") there is no text inserted. The relevant function is below and the line that should insert the text into the textarea is:

$("textarea#draftrec").html(data).show();
//------------------------------------------------------
$("form#form1").submit(function(e){

Passing Data From Multi-page Child Form To Parent Form

May 23, 2010

I would like to have a main form (written in PHP) that has a "lookup" button next to a text field. When the user clicks "lookup", it should open a new window that lets them search (child.page1). When they enter a name or DOB into the search form, it submits the form through PHP (via POST), to a results page (child.page2). This displays all persons in the database which have a name or DOB == to the search term(s), with a checkbox next to each match. They click the checkbox (or alternenatively, a link), and return the checkbox value to the main window.

I have everything working right now, except that (child.page2) doesn't recognize the main window. If the data is entered on (child.page1), it works fine. I'm not very familiar with javascript.. is this even possible? I've considered using frames, to keep the parent-child relationship evident to the computer, but figured I'd check to see if there's an easier way.

Access Is Denied On Form Submit When Too Many Data In Form

Jul 23, 2005

I'm getting an incredible behaviour of internet explorer.
I have a generated html page with one form and many input of checkbox
type.

Those checkbox are grouped in 4 lists and each list of checkbox
contain checkboxs with the same name so I can easily retrieve on my
server side (java) wich checkbox are checked with a
request.getParameterValues(). (Each checkbox has a value corresponding
to the id of the row)
Anyway that's not on the server that the problem is.

Here it comes. When more than 132 checkboxes are checked, my form
submit generate a javascript error. When 132 or less checkboxes are
checked it submit without problem.

I tested the page with firefox, the problem is not here with that
browser and it can submit liek for example 400 checkboxes.

Then I tried to make a workaround, on submiting I browse the elements
list of my document and I create a big string containing all the ids
checked and then I uncheck all checkboxes and submit. there again it
fail to work.

I'm really affraid I'm looking at a nasty bug of Internet explorer
here and I'm going to engineer a more deep workaround if noone can
point out a solution to me.

I should precise that I have no iframes on that page. I indeed saw
that some people got 'access is denied' on submit form but in my case
it works when not too much data is going to be submited !

CD Form Data

Apr 20, 2005

I am writing an online factsheet CMS and need to develop a system for offline development.

Currently the CMS uses php to handle all the form data and file uploads. What I would like to do is be able to put onto CD an offline version so that people with limited internet access would be able to write a few sheets, save it to a folder and then connect to the net and upload them.

The folder, connection and uploads I have done but what I want to know is:
Is there a way to utilise javascript to save the posted form data to a text file on the client machine?

I have looked at document.write and getElementByID but to be honest, javascript isn't my bag!

My problem lies when the user selects search. The user is taken to the

presented with a blank search page with default values set.

What i need is for the form to hold the users input until the user
selects a clear button.

Form Data Not Submitting?

I'm trying to submit form data to mysql. The POST form action calls the .js file, which make a request to the http server, which connects to the database, executes a php script via URL and submits data to be entered. The php script executes inserting data into database, then redirects the page following execution of script. After, submitting the form, the page redirection in the php script works but no data is entered. Trying to figure out why. Here is my httpRequest.

Transfer Form Data To Pop-up?

Basically I have comments posted on articles and I want to allow users to report them if they find inappropriate content. I want them to be able to click on icon on the comment which will open up a pop-up.Then in the pop-up they can type why they are reporting the comment.

<script type="text/javascript">
function popup() {
Report = window.open('/report.php','Report','width=350, height=400');
document.reportform.submit();
}
</script>

I've been messing with this code for a while now. This code successfully brings up the pop-up, but it doesn't transfer the form data. My main coding language is PHP, and I'm in the process of learning Javascript.

Transfer Data From A Form?

May 31, 2010

I have a rather complicated problem for me as it involves both php and js. And I'm getting lost... Let me explain:

On a page, order.html, I have a form including the following fields:
- name
- email
- comment

When posted, it is linked to request.php and request.validation.js, to end up on confirmation.php.

On confirmation.php, I would like to reuse the information entered in the fields on order.php (name, email, comment) to display them on the page. My issue I can't find how to 'take them along' in request.php / request.validation.js to confirmation.php where I'm trying to display them with : Contact: <span id="name"><?php echo($_POST['name']); ?></span> etc.

Save Form Data To PDF?

Feb 14, 2011

I have a long survey form and once its submitted it gets recorded into a database. I would love to be able to save a PDF version of the HTML form with all their radio buttons and textfields filled out at the same time its submitted. It would need a unique name that matches their record in the database (maybe it pulls the data that was entered into one of the form fields for the name).

Whether it gets uploaded to an ftp or just emailed to a mailbox doesn't really matter. The purpose of this is to basically have a visual interpretation of the data by a single user.

I have found a bunch of javascript that is supposed to break down a query string and populate the second form based on that, but no matter what i try i cant get it working. Basically, im trying to have a small form on the main page where a user would enter some basic info (name, etc.) and also choose from a drop down menu for one selection. Then on clicking submit, that would launch the full form, populated with the data they filled out, and including new input fields.

Accessing Form Data From Javascript

Jul 23, 2005

I've been using some code to verify form data quite happily, but i've
recently changed the way my form is structured, and I can't get it to work
now.

Originally :

The form is called "form1", and I have selects called "PORTA", "PORTB" ...
etc...

I then had javascript that accessed these selects as below, and it worked
fine.

ind = document.form1.PORTD.selectedIndex;
val = document.form1.PORTD.options[ind].value;
dev = document.form1.PORTD.options[ind].text;

My form is now autogenerated, and form data is stored to file, so I now use
an associative array for thte form elements (so that I can loop through them
easily), The form elements names are now :

McuCfg[PORTA], McuCfg{PORTB} and so on

Now, I modified the javascript so that it now uses the McuCfg[] associative
array :

ind = document.form1.McuCfg[PORTD].selectedIndex;
val = document.form1.McuCfg[PORTD].options[ind].value;
dev = document.form1.McuCfg[PORTD].options[ind].text;

When the script runs, I get the error

"document.form1.McuCfg.PORTD is null or not an object"

I have used the same notation that i know works for the "options" array
although that's not an associative array.

Modifying Form Data Before Submission

Jul 20, 2005

I have a form which houses basic inputs, as well as a few multiple select forms.

I need to parse all the 'values' which are in this multiple select form (it
gets manipulated dynamically client side). I wanted to create a function
that loops through all the form elements, and if the type 'select-multiple'
is detected, gather the VALUES of each <option> inside it.

The bit I'm stuck on is then how to reconstruct this into a form submission.
Preferably I wanted the data from the 'select-multiple' element to be
submitted as comma delimited, eg 14,12,512,63,62 which would later be parsed
by PHP.

I was considering reconstructing a query string and submitting that as GET,
but I'd prefer to POST it along with the other data (such as INPUTS etc)
which do not need to be changed.

Can I somehow attach some 'hidden' type data onto the end of the form
submission at this point?
