I have a json encoded array
[Code]...
I started getting a wierd problem with my jscript program. Here im using jscript for client-side validation and upon email field submission,im getting undefined value with an error saying "length is null or not an object". All the values of fields prior to that are being obtained properly.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I run the following code, the .Length function returns "undefined."
var strTest = 'test';
alert(strTest.Length);
Using the typeof function, I know that JS is treating the variable as a string.
I try to create the following:
2 buttons next to each other, on a webpage
button 1 makes (onClick) text 1 appear just beneath the button
button 2 makes (onClick) text 2 appear just beneath the button
in each of the texts at the end there's a third button to make the text
dissappear again
IS THIS POSSIBLE? HOW?

The links at the top load XML/file/content into the DIV. This works ok.I then want the images (from 2nd link) draggable to the right hand menu. It doesn't work.However if I select everything, view source code, save the file and view it (http://9publishing.co.uk/ test/ xml /jquery/jj.asp ) it works fine!
P.S. The code that loads the content into the DIV is:
javascript Code:
var xmlHttp
function showCD(str)
{[code].............
The application works fine but it makes the user enter the answer twice before it brings up the question "Would you like to continue?". I thought the fix would be to just call "myMH.checkAnswer(studentAnswer);" straight from the method in the "appclass" but that didn't fix it I m so lost on this problem. This problem most likely is right in front of my face but don't see it lol. I have another question as well but I think if I get this one figured out first it might answer my other one.

I have some experience now in PHP but I have not experienced Javascript to it's full extent.
I have a checkbox named "sales" that I want to make a input field required only if it is checked. The input field name is "telephone".

I have a user name, password, phone number etc., that all need to be validated before being submitted. The functions filter out the unwanted characters and null and zero length strings. I did have a pop up that listed the errors but I would prefer them to be listed below the log in screen that is a hidden div.I cannot get it to work.The validation works fine,

We are developing a web page that shows large graphics. To provide more screen space for the graphics, we allow the user to popup a window that places itself over the top part of the browser. This popup contains a control panel that tells the main window what to display.
Because we don't want to require that the user continually ALT-TAB to go between the main window and the popup (all user controls are on the popup) in the control panel popup, we have the following:
in the function called by onLoad in the popup, the following line is executed:
window.onblur= keepFocus;
later in the .js file we have:
function keepFocus() {
self.focus();
}
The problem is that when the user tries to use a dropdown select control the list drops down and immediately rolls back up, making it inoperable. This doesn't happen in the Netscape/Mozilla family or browsers. Nor does IE report an error.
I am using the Cycle Plugin on my website, [URL]. For some reason, and only on IE, when the cycle action occurs there is a clicking sound, like the clicking sound when the user clicks on a page hyperlink. The sound happens before the cycle action starts and when it ends. why this is happening and how can I prevent it from making the clicking sound?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using JQuery Validate Plugin and it working perfectly but the problem is for error place when error message come it make my form display look bad due to error.
I will explain you howThis is my screen when the page is load
Now when I press the Add New Company Button
You can see that look is getting bad. What is the solution for this. how can I stop this.
I am using DIV for each label and text.
I have this table:CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Assignments (uid TEXT PRIMARY KEY ON CONFLICT REPLACE, instruction TEXT, start TEXT, stop TEXT, createdTimestamp TEXT, theTimestamp TEXT, taskID TEXT, resID TEXT, flowID TEXT, flowDefID TEXT, currentState TEXT, iconRef TEXT, colorRef TEXT, dispatched BOOLEAN, inStartState INTEGER, inStopState INTEGER, writeLock INTEGER, workItemID TEXT, companyID TEXT, metadata INTEGER)
The thing is that when making a insert and then going to the development toolbar in chrome and look at the storage tab and look at my table. Depending on what is in the table chrome crashes.I drop the table between the executions.The difference here is that "theTimestamp" is something rather then empty. If I set theTimestamp to '10/15/10 3:07 P' it works. But just adding that last M or any other letter will make chrome crash when you try to look at the table. Whether it is by navigating to the table with mouse clicks or writing a select * from Assignments statement.
given that I have a js file included which is written programatically and I
can't change it. I would like to know how to do the following using
something other than the deprecated eval().
whats in the js file
var numArrays=something;
var data0 = new Array();
data0.name="name";
data0.data="some data";
var data1 = new Array();
data1.name="another name";
data1.data="some more data";
etc ....
function getData(arrayName) {
for ( var i=0;i<numArrays:i++) {
var el=eval('data'+i);
if (arrayName = = el.name) doSomething(el.data);
}}
var fns = ['orde', 'no', 'kml', 'snf', 'td', 'ty', 'tn', ...up to 21
elms...];
var snv = new Array();
var vals = new Array();
for (i = 0; i < N; i++) {
for (j = 0; j < fns.length; j++)
vals[j] = some value;
snv[i] = new makeData(vals);
}
function makeData(vals) {
for (k = 0; k < vals.length; k++)
//the following line doesn't work
eval("this."+fns[k]+"="+vals[k]);
//neither this one
this.eval(fns[k]) = vals[k]);
}
how can i make it without writing it the long way:
this.orde = vals[0];
this.no = vals[1];
this.kml = vals[2];
and so on?
how comes the following doesnt work
fieldNotes2=eval("Message.notes["+id2+"]");
i believe it's because of the [] but i need to keep them!
I've made a funny program using eval()...it will let the person(on the page) to write javascript and have it compile(if thats the right word for it)! its quite cool, i dont know how handy it might be, but here it is none the less...
code:
<html>
<head>
<title>test</title>
<script language="JavaScript">
function submitCode(){
var the_code = window.document.form_1.textarea_1.value;
var run_the_code=eval(the_code);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<center>
<h1>write some code!</h1>
<form name="form_1">
<textarea name="textarea_1" rows=10 cols=40>
</textarea>
</form>
<form onSubmit="return false;">
<input type="submit" value="submit your code" onClick="submitCode();">
</form>
</center>
</body>
</html>
very simple stuff, but for those of you who are unfamilir with eval, its pretty cool, huh?
I have been practicing using canvas to make designs. My current code below will load the word the user inputs and makes it bounce around the canvas as well as a text spinner. However, whenever the user inputs a second word, the bounce below stops to start a new one and the text spinner messes up. so when the user inputs another word, that it either reloads a new textspinner or adds another one, as well as just add the word to the canvas without stopped the old one.

I have made a page thats makes an AJAX call to the server gets the time and displays it. In the OPEN method i have set
req.open("GET","/timerProg.cgi?param1="+new date(),false);
I have set the last parameter as false as i am expecting a synchronous request so that time displayed should be consistent.
I am using new date() since the browser is caching my request and displaying the same output everytime as i dont know any other alternative.
The alternative so that browser does not cache the results and gives proper output each time.
I'm having some weird problem with evaluating the continue statement.
Within a for loop I'm trying to evaluate a string (generated somewhere
earlier) which basically has the continue statement in it. IE6 seems to
have major problems with that as it generates an error "Can't have
'continue' outside of loop". Does anyone know why and/or have a
workaround? I haven't tried any other browser since this one is the
only one available (company policy).
I have included some code to reproduce this behaviour. The first and
second if statements of the testeval function behave as expected. The
third one however produces the mentionned error. Code:
I am trying to do the following but i get an error, is there no way i
can use eval to print have it assigned to a predeterminded variable.
eval (object_name + "_CalCalendar") = new CalendarPopup(object_name);
Cannot assign to function result.
Here is my code.
function CallDisplay()
{
nodeobj=new mynode();
x="displayId("+nodeobj+")";
eval(x);
}
function displayId(node)
{
alert(node.myid);
}
function mynode()
{
this.myid="aa";
}
In CallDisplay() I am getting the error as "Microsoft JScript
Compilation error ']' expected". Any one can suggest me how to
overcome this.
I'm running some javascript over a server side generated web page
and have multiple generated empty select statements, that I want to
populate when the page is loaded. As HTML doesn't do arrays each
select is individually named withe MySelecti where i is an incremental
from 1.
I know all my variables are correct (i, OptionsCount) and my arrays
of MyValues and MyDescription's exist for multiple enteries and if I
bring out an example of what I thought each line would eval too( say
document.MyForm.MySelect1.options[1]=new
Option('Value1','Description1') the line works fine, for the life of me
(i'm sure I'm missing something obvious) the eval line won't eval..
for(i = 1; i<=row; i++) {
for (j = 1; j <=OptionsCount; j++) {
eval="document.MyForm.MySelect"+i+".options["+j+"]=new
Option('"+MyValues[j]+"', '"+MyDescription[j]+"')";
eval(eval);
}
}
