Although there is nothing essentially wrong with running Javascript server sided, what makes php a favorite over Javascript in this sense? What may draw users to use Javascript server sided?
I have some experience now in PHP but I have not experienced Javascript to it's full extent.
I am trying to find the answer of the following. Suppose, I am trying to build a web page to conduct a fictious online Poll and people vote their favourite candidate. Now each voter is allowed to vote only one candidate from any one party. I have made the code with JavaScript and HTML. But the problem is that, after voting the Candidate and pressing Submit, the page should open another new page where the voter must select any one name of the party to which the candidate belongs and Submit again. But my problem is that, I am trying to open that new page in the place of the existing page but its only opening in a new window. Putting '_self' doesn't work! (I am using radio buttons. It also needs form vaildation so the voter must vote!)
<HTML>
Use any html file of yours as party_names.html. If you omit "_self" from it, then it'll work properly. But that opens a new window for party_names.html. But I want it to open the new page in the same window carrying the data selected from both pages in order to process in the server.
2 buttons next to each other, on a webpage button 1 makes (onClick) text 1 appear just beneath the button button 2 makes (onClick) text 2 appear just beneath the button
in each of the texts at the end there's a third button to make the text dissappear again
The links at the top load XML/file/content into the DIV. This works ok.I then want the images (from 2nd link) draggable to the right hand menu. It doesn't work.However if I select everything, view source code, save the file and view it (http://9publishing.co.uk/ test/ xml /jquery/jj.asp ) it works fine!
P.S. The code that loads the content into the DIV is:
javascript Code:
var xmlHttp function showCD(str) {[code].............
The application works fine but it makes the user enter the answer twice before it brings up the question "Would you like to continue?". I thought the fix would be to just call "myMH.checkAnswer(studentAnswer);" straight from the method in the "appclass" but that didn't fix it I m so lost on this problem. This problem most likely is right in front of my face but don't see it lol. I have another question as well but I think if I get this one figured out first it might answer my other one.
I have a user name, password, phone number etc., that all need to be validated before being submitted. The functions filter out the unwanted characters and null and zero length strings. I did have a pop up that listed the errors but I would prefer them to be listed below the log in screen that is a hidden div.I cannot get it to work.The validation works fine,
I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page.
The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script.
The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers?
Javascript Code
window.onload = initAll; var xhr = false; function initAll() { document.getElementById("makeTextRequest").onclick = getNewFile;
I'm trying to write a script that will be loaded from one server into a website on another server. This script is trying to talk (ajax) to the server that it comes from but I'm getting "Access Denied" errors. I'm well aware that cross-domain calls are not allowed for security reasons so my question is how does Google Analytics work because essentially thats what I'm trying to accomplish. I can embed a Google Analytics script into my website and it'll gather data and send it back to Google.
I would like to open an html file locally (not fetch it from a server) and somehow use javascript to fetch the relative resources from the server. One solution would be to convert all of the relative links to absolute links. I can convert the html source file anyway I wish, but ideally I would like to modify the html source as little as possible, for example insert a function that modifies the result of the src attribute. How would I go about this? Is there any trick I can use to define where the relative home is? Am I going to get into any scripting security gotchas?
We are developing a web page that shows large graphics. To provide more screen space for the graphics, we allow the user to popup a window that places itself over the top part of the browser. This popup contains a control panel that tells the main window what to display.
Because we don't want to require that the user continually ALT-TAB to go between the main window and the popup (all user controls are on the popup) in the control panel popup, we have the following:
in the function called by onLoad in the popup, the following line is executed:
window.onblur= keepFocus;
later in the .js file we have:
function keepFocus() { self.focus(); }
The problem is that when the user tries to use a dropdown select control the list drops down and immediately rolls back up, making it inoperable. This doesn't happen in the Netscape/Mozilla family or browsers. Nor does IE report an error.
I am using the Cycle Plugin on my website, [URL]. For some reason, and only on IE, when the cycle action occurs there is a clicking sound, like the clicking sound when the user clicks on a page hyperlink. The sound happens before the cycle action starts and when it ends. why this is happening and how can I prevent it from making the clicking sound?
I am using JQuery Validate Plugin and it working perfectly but the problem is for error place when error message come it make my form display look bad due to error.
I will explain you howThis is my screen when the page is load
Now when I press the Add New Company Button
You can see that look is getting bad. What is the solution for this. how can I stop this.
I have this table:CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS Assignments (uid TEXT PRIMARY KEY ON CONFLICT REPLACE, instruction TEXT, start TEXT, stop TEXT, createdTimestamp TEXT, theTimestamp TEXT, taskID TEXT, resID TEXT, flowID TEXT, flowDefID TEXT, currentState TEXT, iconRef TEXT, colorRef TEXT, dispatched BOOLEAN, inStartState INTEGER, inStopState INTEGER, writeLock INTEGER, workItemID TEXT, companyID TEXT, metadata INTEGER)
The thing is that when making a insert and then going to the development toolbar in chrome and look at the storage tab and look at my table. Depending on what is in the table chrome crashes.I drop the table between the executions.The difference here is that "theTimestamp" is something rather then empty. If I set theTimestamp to '10/15/10 3:07 P' it works. But just adding that last M or any other letter will make chrome crash when you try to look at the table. Whether it is by navigating to the table with mouse clicks or writing a select * from Assignments statement.
I have been practicing using canvas to make designs. My current code below will load the word the user inputs and makes it bounce around the canvas as well as a text spinner. However, whenever the user inputs a second word, the bounce below stops to start a new one and the text spinner messes up. so when the user inputs another word, that it either reloads a new textspinner or adds another one, as well as just add the word to the canvas without stopped the old one.
I am creating an XML document on my page with javascript. My question is, is it possible to save that xml file on the server (I have write permissions) only using javascript, ie no server code? This task would be trivial using server code, but I was wondering if I can do it all with client code and post backs? Well, any input?
The Farbtastic color picker is an elegant solution to the color-picking problem, but its usefulness is prohibitive in those situations where there is not enough screen real-estate. Because it is large, these are many. Since I want to use it in such a situation, I started working towards a solution.
The designed solution involved in clicking on something small, such as Click to Activate, and having the rest of the page become faded-out, while the color-picker appears superimposed over other parts of the page.
That solution is implemented up to a point. In the code posted:
- The trigger appears as part of the original DOM., - Clicking the trigger makes the page text fade, the color-picker appear, and the trigger changes to something like Click to Deactivate, - Upon clicking, it does disappear, and the page text resumes it original appearance..
After this point, one might work towards making it more modular and more easily usable as is farbtastic itself.
It requires a var to hold state, and other things. Ideally, it could be combined with the original to offer a wider range of usage patterns. I have no doubt that the code can vastly be improved, since I am relatively new to jquery, although not to computing.
The code is posted below, in the hope that it proves useful to others, The only change made to the farbtastic.js code itself is to add "id='fbc' " to the outermost <div which is added internally. This change is not shown because it would involve posting all of farbtastic.js for this one change. The section of text used to illustrate presumed page content is from the NSIS Users Manual, and has no significance beyond being some text. The div named 'overlay' was employed to allow shifting the whole thing around as a unit relative to the trigger but might be eliminated were that not needed, since everything else works without it, Note also that the input#color from the original farbtastic has been replaced by 'repeater' which is a <div, but seems to work ok to get the color info.
I already have a server connected to clients, clients send msgs and it echoes back to all of them and now i want when a client sends a msg it echoes on his server and the other server too .. so when any of the clients on any of the servers sends a msg it is broadcasted all over the servers to all clients
How can I make the button call the click event so that the server side method btnExecute_Click() can be called? Also, this button calls a javascript function before server side even.
