Display A Specific Image For Each Day Of Month?
Aug 5, 2011I'm new to Javascript. Trying to figure out how to show a specific image for each day of the month.
I think I need an array like this code....

Display Different Image Each Day Of The Month
Nov 9, 2006This javascript is working satisfactorily, but having written it, I find its not quite what I want. What I really want is a different potshot to come up each day of the month. I have 31 potshots, so this should be no problem. What I would like to do is to test what day in the month it is, and then select that array element. For instance, today is wednesday Nov 9, so clicking TODAYS POTSHOT should bring up element [9]. Tomorrow, the same click sequence will bring up element [10] and so forth.
How do I find the numeric value of the day of the month? And then having found it use that as the array index value?

Mar 2, 2010I am completely new to Javascript and html... but not to programming.
I'm trying to modify something that someone wrote and trying to keep it standardized... meaning they way the did it. Here is an example of what they did. code...
What I'd like to do is display a png image file in a similar fashion if possible... I'm not sure if it can be done use getElementById.
Actually, I'd like to do <div> instead of a table so that I can layer images. I've converted the table above to using <div>, but again, I can't figure out how to do this with an image file.
The main reason for doing this is because I'd like to use the setTimeout feature.

Changing An Image Daily For A Month?
Jun 28, 2011I am trying to create an "image of the day" for a site where the image will change automatically every 24 hours. Currently, I have 30 images in a folder named "petday" (no quotes) and I tried the following code (found in this forum) but I cannot get it to work. I know there is an easier way to write this but I am not real clear on how to do it. I have been reading the lessons found at W3 schools and I think I can use a switch statement? Is that correct?

I've found that if you comment out this line: window.location.href=A You will successfully delete the hyperlinks that link to the full size image. Feb 20, 2001Here is the thing, I need to have parts of my website display different items depending on the browser (Netscape or Explorer). I have been using PHP to do this on 90% of the site, and it works great. However due to limitations on some pages (the shopping cart software) I cannot use PHP. When the page loads I can use Javascript, and I need it to load a specific header & footer for each browser type. I know that javascript cannot use SSI, so I would basically add everything into the one page and just have the script decide which chunk to add (the if or else statements get to decide I assume). The thing is I rarely use Javascript and when I do it has been extremely simple. here is the basic format I assume it will be using... (not in actual code though as I dont know javascript)

I got it to work by GetElementsByTagName('div') but it then selects all divs rather then the select few i actually want it to work on. I tried changing the selection to GetElementsByName but this doesn't work, why i don't really know.

May 11, 2010Using a UI dialog I'd like to load in 10 or so images. Each would be unique and after you click on one the following needs to happen:
1. Image appears on the parent page in a specified ID.
2. A "hidden" field is updated so that when the user submits the db is updated with their selection.
3. Dialog closes automatically.
That's it. Basically it would work similar to "datepicker".I'm using the latest 1.4 and ui and been making great progress as learning basics. I need to do the above and it seems like such a no brainier and or it should already exist but after 2 days of searching and trial and error...

May 20, 2009Can I intercept the loading of an image BEFORE it loads? We're looking at using an img tag for inserting stats on our server. Here's what I'm considering.
1) Collect certain information server side, write an img to the document like so (note the URL vars): <img id="statsImg" src="stats.cfm?somevar=someval" width="1" height="1" />
2) Using JS, intercept the load of this image BEFORE it takes place, and add things to the URL vars. This way, if JS is not present, you get the default stuff, but if JS is present, you get extra stuff.

Slider - Specific Displaying Time For Each Image
Aug 25, 2011I need to build a slider. which is not there in the page when it loads. then after few seconds it appears and slides from the right hand side of the window and stops at some position on the screen. then after few seconds it changes its image into another one. each and every one of the images has a different displaying time. that time is a database data and i have to specify it accordingly... I have no idea how to do this and i am a newbie to javascript. i don't know whether javascript can do this, maybe another technology..

What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?
Browser Detect To Load Specific Code For Specific Browsers?
Oct 6, 2009Another thing that has been driving me crazy is that css positioning is handled differently by different browsers. JS is not my area, but I can do a lot with CSS, and I do, but cross browser compatibility is killing me.
I can use an IF IE statement and only IE runs that segment of code, but I haven't been able to figure out out how to make ONLY firefox or ONLY opera or safari enact an encapsulated segment of code. The same type of IF statement doesn't work for them.
Is there a single method using JS that works for all browsers?
