May 20, 2009Can I intercept the loading of an image BEFORE it loads? We're looking at using an img tag for inserting stats on our server. Here's what I'm considering.
1) Collect certain information server side, write an img to the document like so (note the URL vars): <img id="statsImg" src="stats.cfm?somevar=someval" width="1" height="1" />
2) Using JS, intercept the load of this image BEFORE it takes place, and add things to the URL vars. This way, if JS is not present, you get the default stuff, but if JS is present, you get extra stuff.

Feb 8, 2010If you're using SSL, and version of IE < 8 (includes IE 8 in compatibility mode) and you try to remove anything with a background image you get an SSL warning. This is a bug in IE that causes this warning for doing a number of different things, all other ways I've ran into are pretty trivial to work around. This particular one is more difficult since remove() is called in jquery all over the place internally.

Remove Image.x And Image.y From The Url When Image Button Used?
Oct 11, 2011I use an image button to post a form. Let's say the button is on A.php and form target is B.php. when clicked, B.php comes but with extra arguments in the url. As far as I understand they are the coordinates of the point I clicked on the button image.

When I remove name property additional arguments in the url simplifies as follows:

What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?
Run Script Once Specific Image Is Loaded?

I'm using Jquery so I can easily use $(".bigimage").fadeIn("slow"); but how can I make it so it only fades in once the background image of that div is loaded?

What I'd like to do is display a png image file in a similar fashion if possible... I'm not sure if it can be done use getElementById.
Actually, I'd like to do <div> instead of a table so that I can layer images. I've converted the table above to using <div>, but again, I can't figure out how to do this with an image file.
The main reason for doing this is because I'd like to use the setTimeout feature.

Oct 6, 2009Another thing that has been driving me crazy is that css positioning is handled differently by different browsers. JS is not my area, but I can do a lot with CSS, and I do, but cross browser compatibility is killing me.
I can use an IF IE statement and only IE runs that segment of code, but I haven't been able to figure out out how to make ONLY firefox or ONLY opera or safari enact an encapsulated segment of code. The same type of IF statement doesn't work for them.
Is there a single method using JS that works for all browsers?
