When my page loads, I check for the existence of a cookie value through
readCookie(). If there is a value present for the cookie, I would like
that to be the default value in function ordering() and that value to
be the SELECTED value in ddlProfileNames. In other words, if there is
no cookie value, then function ordering will default to
ordering("Div1,Div2,Div3,Div4"). If there is a value, then that should
be used in function ordering and as the default value in
ddlProfileNames. Thanks for any help.
How do i declare a default value in a function? I have a simple function
function color_input(id,token){ if (!empty(token)){ document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundColor = '#2A2A2A'; document.getElementById(id).style.color = '#DDC58C';
[Code]....
You will notice that the #2 parameter is missing in the html call. Sometimes i don't have it to send. in PHP i would just set the functions second param like token=''
is there a way in javascript to provide default values for function variables.. for instance
In my case the problem is this, i have tables on about 10 pages that all use the same type of table that have checkboxes next to each row, indicating each row could be possibly edited or deleted. Now, i have a function to check/uncheck all by clicking the top box in the column. It works fine, but on one page, i actually have two of these tables. This screws it up though as it will check everything in the first table when i click the select all input box on the second table. I was hoping i could simply change the value for the id of the table and then pass that id instead of passing nothing.
in php it would look like this function my_function($default_value = "hello") {
in javascript i dont know if this is possible though, it threw errors when i tried syntax similar to that.
I've been searching now for quite a while trying to look for a way to give the default value to a function argument if it's not given. For example, in php one would do the follow:
function func_name(foo = 'default') { ... }
In the above case, if foo isn't supplied while calling for the function, then foo would default to 'default'. I have tried that in javascript, but it doesn't appear to be working, so I am wondering how should I do this in javascript?
How I can set a cookie name with the next function: Explanation: if cookie called: "lostpasswd" is present on the web browser of user it can't be access to the page in the next 30 minutes. After 30 minutes the cookie will be destroyer.
Anyway, I am using some code that someone else wrote so I claim no credit here for the code.It works great and I've managed to persuade to work in Wordpress but I have one thing I would like to change.Basically the text I am trying to toggle is "shown" on page load - I would like it to be "hidden" until the user clicks on the link to make it appear.Here's the code:
I am looking for a way to put all CSS values on my selected elements back to its default. I was wondering if anyone has maybe done this before and if not has any idea's to get me started.
The idea is that when I use for example:
The elements within .setDefault will return to its default font/color/height/width etc... so basically all posible values.
I have searched and searched the internet but cannot find information on exactly what I am trying to do.What I am trying to do is set a cookie that will remember if the display status is "none". This is probably something simple but I don't know much about javascript obviously. I've tried a few different approaches but I can never get the script to actually set a cookie.
I simply want to learn how to create a cookie that is assigned the user’s favorite color. And change the background color of the document to that color. So far I think I may be storing it in the cookie correctly, and I have a function that sets the background color, but I don’t think I am recalling it properly when I reopen the web page. Code:
I want the onclick event to finish completing and then perform the default href function, which is denoted by the "return true". The javascript "myFunction()" opens a window in a pop-up and it has a submit button in it. I would like to wait till this page loads in the pop-up window and only after the user clicks on the close button, the default href function needs to be carried out. I cannot figure out on how to get the callback from this event.
I've been researching cookies a bit, and I attempted to create a function that if you select a background name from a drop down list or anything for that matter, it will save the background in the cookie, and display it in a div background for later use. Now I can't quite figure out why there is a problem with this script, but the error checker tells me there is.
Heres the code: <script type="text/javascript"> //Get Cookie function get_cookie(Name) { var search = Name + "=" var returnvalue = ""; if (document.cookie.length > 0) { offset = document.cookie.indexOf(search) // if cookie exists if (offset != -1) { offset += search.length // set index of beginning of value end = document.cookie.indexOf(";", offset); .....
Can I make a list of hyperlinks that users can customize and save as a cookie by clicking a button and automatically retrieve the cookie so it remembers their list next time? This is kind of what I want to do:
I am making a sort of text based game (Just a hobby) I like to do that sort of thing. So, anyway, considering all I can really do is code HTML, and very, very light javascript, I kinda need some help.
I basicly know how to do everything except affect & Use the cookies. So what I need to do with them is to
#1.) Have a code to change the cookie number, say... on the click of a button.
#2.) Have a code where it only displays certain text if the cookie is a certain number.
I cant code JS and have no idea how hard/easy this is.
If it is insanely hard & needs a master coder, just tell me and ill take it off. I dont want to be wasting anyones time.
I have an embedded system with a web interface. One of the web pages has a small JavaScript program that, when run on IE6, always displays the message that cookies need to be enabled:
if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1) { document.cookie = 'asm_session=0' if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1) { document.write("Advanced System Management access requires cookies to be enabled."+'<br><br>'); } }
This problem only occurs with IE6, not Mozilla. It also only happens on some of the embedded systems, but this problem exists for everyone running IE6.
The problem isn't limited to the Javascript code, either. On another web page from this embedded system, a cookie is set the normal way, via the HTTP header. This cookie is also rejected.
When I display any page that attempts to set a cookie, IE6 displays the blocked icon and says that cookies on that URL are blocked. However, I have set all privacy and cookie options to their most permissive. I've spent the past hour changing every option I can find that's even remotely related to cookies and privacy, and nothing changes. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
In my web application we are able to store large data in the browser cookie keeping in mind the limit of 300 cookies per cookie file, 20 keys per cookie per domain and 4KB max size of each cookie. We are unable to retreive this large amount of data immediately after storing through document.cookie in IE browser (The same works fine in Netscape).
Is there any limit on the size of the data that can be retreived using document.cookie in IE browser? Could you please suggest a solution to this problem I am facing.
I have a function which uses the .value method to add a value to input field when the document is loaded, but i get an error "document.getElementById("myText") is null ".here is the code for what im trying to do.
Code HTML4Strict: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
I have an onclick handler which executes and jquery ajax load function but I need to validate a form first before executing the load function. I don't know how to prevent the load from occurring until the validate is complete. I am validating using the jquery validate plugin.

HTML Code:
Javascript is checking the browser language, and the it set the correct text. How to set the correct css background if the visitor's browser is different then "nl"..
I have a form with 3 buttons with a text box next to each button
what i want to do is when a textbox is filled out the default button is changed to the button next to that text box rather than the first button on the form.
I'm currently overriding function keys (F1 to F4) to perform other actions. In order to do this the default popup windows of Help (F1), Seach(F3) etc must be turned off. In FF it's easy enought to do using the preventDefault and stopPropagation event functions.
IE's equivalent is supposed to be cancelBubble and returnValue, however I can not seem to get them to stop no matter what I try.
Can someone please point out my error? The test code is below....
I'm able to set default value in text box using jqury but don't know how to set default value in file upload control. For filling textbox I'm using the following code:
