You will notice that the #2 parameter is missing in the html call. Sometimes i don't have it to send. in PHP i would just set the functions second param like token=''

Default Function Value From A Cookie
Mar 1, 2006When my page loads, I check for the existence of a cookie value through
readCookie(). If there is a value present for the cookie, I would like
that to be the default value in function ordering() and that value to
be the SELECTED value in ddlProfileNames. In other words, if there is
no cookie value, then function ordering will default to
ordering("Div1,Div2,Div3,Div4"). If there is a value, then that should
be used in function ordering and as the default value in
ddlProfileNames. Thanks for any help.

In my case the problem is this, i have tables on about 10 pages that all use the same type of table that have checkboxes next to each row, indicating each row could be possibly edited or deleted. Now, i have a function to check/uncheck all by clicking the top box in the column. It works fine, but on one page, i actually have two of these tables. This screws it up though as it will check everything in the first table when i click the select all input box on the second table. I was hoping i could simply change the value for the id of the table and then pass that id instead of passing nothing.
in php it would look like this
function my_function($default_value = "hello") {
in javascript i dont know if this is possible though, it threw errors when i tried syntax similar to that.

Apr 21, 2007I've been searching now for quite a while trying to look for a way to give the default value to a function argument if it's not given. For example, in php one would do the follow:
function func_name(foo = 'default') {
...
}
In the above case, if foo isn't supplied while calling for the function, then foo would default to 'default'. I have tried that in javascript, but it doesn't appear to be working, so I am wondering how should I do this in javascript?

The javascript "myFunction()" opens a window in a pop-up and it has a submit button in it. I would like to wait till this page loads in the pop-up window and only after the user clicks on the close button, the default href function needs to be carried out. I cannot figure out on how to get the callback from this event.

Jan 7, 2011I have been working on a few budget scripts that I can access from the web in using HTML. My problem is that when variable values change I need to change these values in all of the HTML files on the server. I know that there is a way to declare global variables in a single file and use those values in another file but I have not been able to find any information that tells me exactly how to do this. I have tried to put it together on my own using what little informaiton I have been able to find but have not been able to get this to work. Is there a more detailed referance that I can find somewhere or does anyone know what steps I need to take to make this happen?

Sep 17, 2010I am looking for a push in the right direction for a few problems i am running into; my first problem is I have to create a script element that contains the function amountTotal which should return the sum of all the values in the amount array. There are no parameters for this function, and I have to add the following commands to it.
1. declare a variable named total with an initial value of 0
2. create a for loop thatloops through all of the values in the amount array, at each iteration of the loop, add the current value of the array item to the value of the total variable.
3. and after the for loop is completed, return the value of the total variable.
The amount array has already been created and populated in a list.js file, I had to first create a script element pointing to it.

I have my entire code written but i am trying to break it up and fix my problems 1 at a time: when i open the code, it does'nt display correctly ( which is another problem) but I ran the debugger and it says my total is undefined. ( this is in another section of my code), but I guess my function is wrong somewhere.
