JQuery :: Using Toggle Function - Hide On Load As Default?

Anyway, I am using some code that someone else wrote so I claim no credit here for the code.It works great and I've managed to persuade to work in Wordpress but I have one thing I would like to change.Basically the text I am trying to toggle is "shown" on page load - I would like it to be "hidden" until the user clicks on the link to make it appear.Here's the code:

I use this snippet to remember the state of a toggle. But i want the default state to be hidden. How can i accomplish this? I added "display:none;" to .toggle_container but this isn't working.

Problem: The code works fine when I remove 'slow' from line 10. But with 'slow' in line 10 content of toggleButton doesnt change from Hide to Show when pressed.

I have a form that gets automatically filled based on the values returned by my php file. Then the form elements have their values filled.
Now the problem is, I have set few additional show and hide <div> tags based on the values of some other fields. So when the form loads, the <div> tag doesnt show up and stays hidden only as the event that activates it is based on the radio button's change event function.
So my question is, as the form loads, how can I have these <div> show/hide based on the default values of the text fields on which they depend upon....

I have a function that uses the ajax load function to post off some parameters and fill a div with the returned content after a db query has been run to create it. This all works fine, however I would like to be able to replace the div with a loading graphic whilst the content
is generated. I assumed this was done by placing the graphic at the start of the function, then using a callback function to remove it and display the actual data once it has been fully generated...
However when I trey to implement this I am getting a strange result in that the callback fires before the content is generated. So my loading graphic disappears and then the content appears sometimes 10 seconds later. How can I ensure the call back only executes once the new content is
ready to be displayed ??

I'm extremely new to jquery and trying to write a toggle function without using the built-in functionality. From what I've read, this should be a fairly straightforward exerciseHowever, I'm running an issue. My code doesn't seem to do anything. Not clear to me why because nothing is erroring out? I'm using this jquery plugin I recently found, and I'm having some trouble with it. Actually I got it to work quite nicely, the thing is that (as you may notice in that same demo) it works using the Title attribute so when you hover for a couple of seconds over a menu button, that awful default tooltip appears. I did some research but I couldn't find any simple way to hide those.

Assuming that a checkbox is initially unchecked, the following code works because the additional text is hidden, and when the checkbox is checked, the function if performed to show() it. However, what needs to be done if the checkbox may or may not be checked initially?

Guys sorry I am to 100% new to this and this code landed in my lap today. The problem is the content switches fine after the user clicks on each menu item, but the content window is empty when the page first loads. I would like to set page1 content to be visible when the page first loads.

I'm using Dynamic ajax content to load .php files into a div section, and everything is going fine, but the only problem is I don't know how to have the index page to load a certain file when the page loads. Completely new to jQuery but I am trying to implement a few pieces on my new website. At the moment I have three images in a row and I want to be able to click on any one of the images and use jQuery to populate a hidden div below the three images that contains more info and slide it out using the fold animation. I'd also like it if when a second image was clicked it closed the currently open div and opened the new one. I've seen tutorials that open the divs but can't find one that closes them again on opening a new one.
Can anyone point me to a tutorial that does this or suggest how it could be done?

I have 2 divs: <div id="box1></div> and <div id="box2></div> I also have one link to contoll them both. The effect I want to get is: when I click first time on my link box2 hides, when i click second time also box1 hides, when I click third time both divs should show. I'm using mootools-core-1.3.2.js & mootools-more-1.3.2.js to toggle hide/show a div

I'm trying to make one div default open, and that is working ok, but when I hit the link for the the other div to open, the first div is not closing... It closes when I hit the link for the first div...

This page (and others on the site) use javascript to show/hide some divs in order to have a tab-like interface.
Is there any way to link to this page with the "Past Events" div showing as the default? Right now you can see that "Coming Events" shows on page load. And that's the way we want it most of the time.
But there are places in the site where I'd like to link specifically to this page with the "Past Events" div showing on page load.code...
