Anyway, I am using some code that someone else wrote so I claim no credit here for the code.It works great and I've managed to persuade to work in Wordpress but I have one thing I would like to change.Basically the text I am trying to toggle is "shown" on page load - I would like it to be "hidden" until the user clicks on the link to make it appear.Here's the code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/jquery-

I have a form that gets automatically filled based on the values returned by my php file. Then the form elements have their values filled.
Now the problem is, I have set few additional show and hide <div> tags based on the values of some other fields. So when the form loads, the <div> tag doesnt show up and stays hidden only as the event that activates it is based on the radio button's change event function.
So my question is, as the form loads, how can I have these <div> show/hide based on the default values of the text fields on which they depend upon....
jQuery(document).ready( function()
{
jQuery(".hidden, .error").hide();
//
This only gets activated when the radio button is changed but i want this to be checked on change as well as based on initial values... How do I do that ?
jQuery( jQuery("input[name='ssc_appear']") ).change
( function()
{
if ( jQuery("input[name='ssc_appear']:checked" ).val() == "yes" )

I'm using this jquery plugin I recently found, and I'm having some trouble with it. Actually I got it to work quite nicely, the thing is that (as you may notice in that same demo) it works using the Title attribute so when you hover for a couple of seconds over a menu button, that awful default tooltip appears. I did some research but I couldn't find any simple way to hide those.

Assuming that a checkbox is initially unchecked, the following code works because the additional text is hidden, and when the checkbox is checked, the function if performed to show() it. However, what needs to be done if the checkbox may or may not be checked initially?

$('#add').change(function(){

Completely new to jQuery but I am trying to implement a few pieces on my new website. At the moment I have three images in a row and I want to be able to click on any one of the images and use jQuery to populate a hidden div below the three images that contains more info and slide it out using the fold animation. I'd also like it if when a second image was clicked it closed the currently open div and opened the new one. I've seen tutorials that open the divs but can't find one that closes them again on opening a new one.
Can anyone point me to a tutorial that does this or suggest how it could be done?

$("#show_hide_div").hide();

It toggles perfectly, but I would like to make to which appears to overlap the underlaying content div below. Right now it just pushes down the content div when sliding out.

I'm trying to make one div default open, and that is working ok, but when I hit the link for the the other div to open, the first div is not closing... It closes when I hit the link for the first div...
var currentShowingDiv = document.getElementById('idShowHide1');
function doHideShow3(divName){
var objDiv = document.getElementById(divName); [code]...
So just to clarify what I want is to have one div open as default (idShowHide1) and when the user hits the link for the second div (idShowHide2) the first div close and the other open... As it is now the first div does not close...

The code below allows a user to specify which <div> should show on page2.html depending on which link is clicked from page1.html.
Page1.html
<code>
<html>
<head>
<title>page 1</title>
</head>
<body>
<a href="page2.html?div1">show div 1</a><br>
<br>
<a href="page2.html?div2">show div 2</a>
</body>
</html>
</code>
Page2.html
<code>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>page 2</title>
<style type="text/css">
.show
{
visibility:visible;
}
.dontshow
{
visibility: hidden;
}
</style>
<script type="text/javascript">
function wp(){
var fn1=window.location.href
var fn2=fn1.split("?")
if (fn2.length>1){
var fn3=fn2[fn2.length-1]
x=document.getElementById(fn3);
x.className="show";
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body onload="wp()">
<div id="div1" class="dontshow">Div 1</div>
<div id="div2" class="dontshow">Div 2</div>
</body>
</html>
</code>
What I would like to do is have page2.html <div1> as the default and show up. Problem is, if I click the link to show <div2> from page1.html, both <div>'s show up. How can I hide <div1>?

I'm not allowed to post a link yet since I'm a newbie. But the page is here: tinyurl dot com /m8ajyp
This page (and others on the site) use javascript to show/hide some divs in order to have a tab-like interface.
Is there any way to link to this page with the "Past Events" div showing as the default? Right now you can see that "Coming Events" shows on page load. And that's the way we want it most of the time.
But there are places in the site where I'd like to link specifically to this page with the "Past Events" div showing on page load.code...

I'm using a classic toggleLayer function to display content in a div adjacent to one full of links.
The code is
function toggleLayer( work ){
var elem, vis;
if( document.getElementById ) // this is the way the standards work
elem = document.getElementById( work );
else if( document.all ) // this is the way old msie versions work
elem = document.all[work];
else if( document.layers ) // this is the way nn4 works
elem = document.layers[work];
vis = elem.style;
// if the style.display value is blank we try to figure it out here
if(vis.display==''&&elem.offsetWidth!=undefined&&elem.offsetHeight!=undefined)
vis.display = (elem.offsetWidth!=0&&elem.offsetHeight!=0)?'block':'none';
vis.display = (vis.display==''||vis.display=='block')?'none':'block';
}
And the links take on the format of:
<a href="javascript:toggleLayer('work');...........
My problem is, I want the 'work' div to remain blank, which it does, until I click one of the links. But after that initial click, I don't want the script to act as a toggle, just a show/change content.

On the homepage of my site, I would like to have some nav links that toggle between a few divs that are below in the content The divs in the content should display one at a time. For example, if you click nav1, the user would see div1. If nav2 is then clicked, div1 would hide and div2 would display.
I have some code that will do this, but for some reason it is hiding any divs that are within the toggled div. I'm very basic with JS and could use some help here. Here is my code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function toggleID(IDS) {
var area = document.getElementById('secondContent');
var sel = area.getElementsByTagName('div');
