Creating An Array Literal Using A Large Recordset From A Database

Feb 9, 2006

The correct syntax for an array literal would be:

this.managers [ "DOE, JANE", "DOE, JOHN", "BUSH, GEORGE W" ];

(which works)

My questioin is, how do you recreate this same syntax pulling from a
recordset containing over 3500 records such as:

aManagerName = "DOE, JANE", "DOE, JOHN", "BUSH, GEORGE W", etc...

because

this.managers [ aManagerName ];

(does not work)

JQuery :: Un-terminated String Literal (creating A Script Tag) [uploadify]?

I am trying to create 3 elements on the fly when a button is clicked. The button is the show an upload form for images. I am using uploadify (first time using it) and I have several different upload type/options for them so I am sending id's to differentiate between them. The problem I am having is when trying to create the script tag which in turn controls the input file type tag, and it is baffling me. Here's the code first:

JQuery :: Autocomplete With A Large Database?

Feb 17, 2011

I am new to jQuery and I am trying to create an autocomplete textbox. When I use a small test database, it works fine but when I use my production database with over 3000 records, it slows to a crawl. It take >20 seconds to load the page and with each letter I type (even though I set minChars to 3), the browser times out asking if I want to continue running the script. My feeling is I need to use AJAX but I have never done that and don't know how to. I code in classic ASP with an Access database. Can anyone provide some sample code how to do this. Unfortunately I am under a time pressure to complete this project.

JQuery :: Pagination Direct From The Database Without A Large Default List To Paginate

Jul 27, 2011

I need a plugin or a idea about how to develop a pagination using jQuery (JSON dict coming from the DB (postgre)), but i cant get a list of all itens in the DB. I tried using offset and limit from the DB, but i didnt like the large algorithm. All i need is: develop a pagination that gives me only 20 rows from the DB (without calling a query to paginate all table from DB) and build a pagination with "first page, previous page, X-2, X-1, X, X+1, X+2, next page, last page" (X = number of actual page).

JQuery :: Creating Extra Large Radio Buttons?

Feb 21, 2011

I cannot believe this is NOT possible but thus far, I've scoured the web for hours looking for an easy way to make a radio button about 10 times larger than it normally is, and make it use custom colors. For example, I'd like to use custom images for the "selected" "unselected" and forgo the normal radio button entirely. However, I'm hoping to keep the radio button as an input method in the HTML, since jQuery has some super useful tools to manipulate input via radiobutton (or other selectors).

Call Parent Method - Creating A Job Ticket Object That Will Interact With A Database

Nov 2, 2011

I am creating a job ticket object that will interact with a database. It has to update the database on the fly via AJAX. Within the job ticket object, I have instances of a Component Object. Within the Component Object, I have an instance of an Editor Object. One of the methods of the Editor object is a function to edit some text and when it's submitted, it will update the database. All of that is working fine. My problem is that I need to refresh the screen with the new contents of the database. I have a method in the Component Object that refreshes the screen, but how do I call it from within the Editor Object? I believe it has to be called there because the editor object has a handler for the form submission and the AJAX function. So I'll have to reference a callback function once the AJAX request is handled, but I don't know how to call it.

I know that sounds kind of convoluted, so hopefully, this very simplified code will paint a better picture of what I'm trying to do:

Code:

Now I want to call refreshScreen, but I don't know how:

Database Into Array

Aug 17, 2006

I'm making a list on a web page of my different books (exemple).

<a href="#" id="permissions1">my favorite book </a>
<a href="#" id="permissions2"> best selling book </a>
<a href="#" id="permissions3">most expensive book </a>
When the user clicks on the link, I want to do a dropdown sheet with the info of the book (the info is in a mysql datebase), name , author, nb pages etc)

I have generated onclick fonctions automatically, that passes a parameter (ie 1,2,3) but don't know how link it to the info in my database.

There are only 25 books, so I could just create an array and get it that way. But the day that I modify info in my database, I'd need to correct my code and I would like to avoid that.

Onlive - Creating A Voting System - Upon Hitting "submit" The Votes Should Be Added To A Database

Mar 15, 2009

I am a graphic designer who has been stuck with creating a voting system for my son's school newspaper website.

Here is what I have so far: [url]

You will see that it is a 1-10 voting system where the user drags the choices into the order of his preference then hits submit. It is working on on a functional level, but I have no idea how to make it work on the backend. I need to somehow accomplish the following:

1. Either get rid of the numbers on the left or somehow stop them from all becoming "1" when dragged.

2. Upon hitting "submit" the votes should be added to a database. I can create a database but I have no idea how to get these numbers into it.

3. The 10 choices will change each week for at least 13 weeks so the database needs to adapt to this.

Here is a zip file with all of the files used on the voting page: [url]

Creating An Array Of Objects

Oct 3, 2011

As they all have the same property set but with different values I thought I'd try creating a servo object, the create an array of servo's but I don't think I'm getting anywhere fast. Heres what I have

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 TransitionalEN" "http:www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http:www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
[Code]...

Once this is done and I've got all the servo objects created with their properties, I'm hoping to be able to search for all servo's with a set property i.e all servo's with servo.application = 1 would that be possible, if not I geuss I'd be wasting all our time trying to create classes I can't use the way I'd like.
