View 3 RepliesI want to create an associative array dynamically pulling the index values from an array (propertyArray); Associative array is created inside create function and then returned. But after it is returned, I cant use index names to retrieve values. It returns undefined as below code shows.

I need to be able to get all my checkboxes which are in an array and which have the name:
name="personselected[]"
to be all checked when a button or link is clicked.
I have looked around and can only find examples of where the checkboxes are not in arrays. The closet I have found to what I need is below but it won't work due to my checkboxes being an array.

In my HTML, I have several of the following:

All are the same except the value is set differently for each one. The
reason for the [] is so I can access the checkbox values as an array on
the processing page (when clicking 'Submit');
However, I want my Javascript code to examine these objects first. My
onclick event handler function (below) is called (I get the 'hi there'
popup), but it does nothing afterward (i.e., neither 'checkbox' alert
appears, and the handler, strangely, seems to return 'true').
I suppose my problem is that I am not specifying the checkbox array
properly. I tried several variations, but I've been working on this
problem alone for several hours and am getting nowhere. Code:

How can I get the checked checkboxes to a string?It thought it would be something like this (found it on this site):

I have a pretty simple survey form, with 5 checkbox answers, one of them being "None of the Above". All 5 are part of the same question1[] array. My goal is to have a function that unchecks the other 4 boxes when None of the Above is checked. The problem is that since None of the Above is part of the question1 array, it unchecks itself. So how do I separate this None of the Above option? After all, it is still a valid answer to question 1, so I don't want it to sit in a different array just because...

So again the issue with this code is that since None of the Above is inside the question1 array, it unchecks itself as well.
So that I can pass multiple checkbox values to my PHP processing script as an array I added the square brackets to my form's checkbox input element's name, like this: <input type="checkbox" name="checkGroup[]" value="'.$rowIDs.'" /> Because it has to match, I updated the input element I use to check/uncheck all the checkboxes so that it now looks like this: <input type="checkbox" name="all" onClick="checkAll(document.ResIDsDates.checkGroup[],this)" />
When I manually select multiple checkboxes I can successfully pass any number of checkbox values through
the POST array to my process script...but my Check/Uncheck All box has ceased working -- adding the
square brackets to the checkbox input's name disabled it.
I tried playing with the ASCII equivalents to the brackets, but no go. Is there a way to retain the array
functionality and pass multiple checkbox values to the script AND enable the Check/Uncheck All box?

The Problem is that the serialize function only sees the first checkbox and indicates whether it has been checked or not. It does not see any of the other check boxes. Does anybody have an idea why the other check boxes do not get serialized and what to do about it?

I have a working example of jQuery validate working in the link below. The newsletter checkbox is required and working. However, the "colors" checkboxes are all named as an array ( ex: name="color[]" ), and so the problem lies in the validation code, where it uses the name of the element to require elements ( ex: newsletter: "required" ).

I have a very large form and have a couple of checkbox groups where multiple items can be selected. They are grouped as an array of checkboxes. When I post the checkbox groups, the PHP script receives duplicate values. If the group has 2 checkboxes, 4 values are posted. If it has 10 checkboxes, 20 values will be posted.
i.e:
I then submit everything to a PHP script via an Ajax call, then output the result to a div. (see below)
However, when my PHP script loops over the $_POST array, it seems that each checkbox array is duplicated, so my PHP array returns:
This happens with all my checkbox arrays, but not with an array of hidden fields for some reason.
I don't think this is a PHP problem, as it looped over everything correctly when submitting via a conventional POST. I checked the contents of $_POST, and it seems that the duplicates are being posted.

I am to make a small html webpage in which there are supposed to be 2 text areas: in the first are certain words (for example tomorrow, money etc.), and in the second one there is an input text (let's say "Tomorrow you must send me the money I need"). Javascript should do this: print the input text in a paragraph/div, highlighting the words mentioned above. Something like: Tomorrow you must send me the money I need. This is how I thought of the array of tags, which can at any time add a new word to the output paragraph, it's only to be chosen whether to highlight it or not.

I have a list of about 70 servo's that I'd like to apply set properties too.As they all have the same property set but with different values I thought I'd try creating a servo object, the create an array of servo's but I don't think I'm getting anywhere fast.[code]...

In my javascript i want to be able to check to see if any of the checkboxes are checked but I cant use document.name.chkbox+#.checked. Should I create an array with the checkbox names? What I'm trying to do is create a document which allows you to select a size of box from a drop down menu, and then select a size of product to go into the box on a second drop down. The products on the second drop down menu will be allocated based on the box size that you've selected to make sure that you can only choose products which will fit in the box you've selected.
In order to do this I've set up a 2D array, which lists each product and which boxes they will fit in using 0 for no and 1 for yes. When you select a box size from the drop down a value appears in a text box next to it (1, 2, 3, or 4) and what I need to do is use the number which appears in this text box to pull data from the array to populate the next drop down list. i.e. If option 2 appears from the first drop down selection then the second drop down should be populated with data from column 2 of array (In this example 1212, 1515, and 2020 would be shown in the second drop down)
Im having trouble with the Java script to pull the values from the html text box in order to manipulate the array. If you look at the function 'top_biochill_addOption_list()' you will see that the second drop is populated here from row [itop2][3] of the array, which means the second drop down is permenantly populated as if option 3 had been selected from the first drop down. I need to get the value selected from the first drop down as a variable and replace the '3' in the above statement with that variable to get this to work but I have no idea how to go about that.
Hopefully all will become clear when you see the code. As I say, I am very new to Javascript so I'm sure this code is probably messy and inefficient, but with that in mind I'd appreciate replies being in simplified terms so I can understand what you're getting at, or if anything gets re-written then a brief explaination of whats going on would be handy so I can understand what the code is actually doing!
