Jun 3, 2009I want to change the table width by dragging img next to the TD of the table using javascript in Mozilla.
View 1 RepliesI want to change the table width by dragging img next to the TD of the table using javascript in Mozilla.
View 1 RepliesI need a code that when a button or image is clicked then a div's width and height are changed.
Ive managed to get a few codes that does this, but the real problem is that, the contents of the div is an embedded flash file and i thought that by setting the flash width and height to 100% then the flash would fit to the new size of the div, but it just didnt work.
I need a code that when a button is clicked then the div's and the flash's width and height are changed.
please have a look at the temp website latinunit net / temp / , you will understand where im coming from.
on the right hand side i have a flash chat in a div , div is controled by a script that allows it to follow the scrollers up and down.
My goal is to add a little button in the same div that says expand or maximise so when clicked the the div expands aswell as the flash file.
I'm trying to write some javascript code that will swap two rows in a
table, in an attempt to provide users with an easy and visual way to
manually change the order of the listed items in a table.
The sample code works as it should in IE, and switches the two rows
nicely.
In Mozilla however it fails the first time, but for some odd reason it
works fine afterwards.
Mozilla doesn't seem to be removing the duplicated node the first time,
which makes it appear as if an extra node is inserted into the table
(which is actualy the case), but on subsequent attempts, it seems to be
removing the duplicated node perfectly... Code:
I have a script that when you click a link it changes a layer visibility. IE: one layer becomes visible while another hidden.
It works great in NS and IE but when I try it in mozilla(firebird) it won't work. Any have a code I could use or know of a resource where I can get one.
can a table width be set dynamically with javascript by referencing the users browser window dimensions or the users video settings? ie: if the user video is set 1280 or less, then the table width is 75%. if the video is above 1280 then the table is 800 pixels.
it may not be a good thing to do, but i like percentages on tables except with large display settings. is it too much overhead?
another thought: would it be easier to implement server side with asp/vbscript?
I have a script that makes opacity of images change when it's called, but the problem is, in IE work perfectly, but not in mozilla. Here's the script :
Code:
function submitkeytest(){
showbanners = true;
multy = false;
x = 0;
while (x<2){
document.getElementById('b'+x).style.filter = "alpha(opacity=100)";
document.getElementById('b'+x).style.MozOpacity = 100;
document.getElementById('b'+x).style.opacity = 100;
if(document.getElementById('b'+x).name.indexOf(document.getElementById('keyfield').value)<=-1){
document.getElementById('b'+x).style.filter = "alpha(opacity=20)";
document.getElementById('b'+x).style.MozOpacity = 20;
document.getElementById('b'+x).style.opacity = 20;
}
x++;
}}
What exactly did I do wrong?
I want to ensure one column in a table is always the same number of pixels
wide no matter what the screen resolution is set to on the visitors PC - the
other two columns can wrap away top their hearts content.
How do I do this please? The code below doesn't do it.
<table border="1" width="100%">
<tr>
<td width="180" valign="top"> </td>
<td width="*" valign="top"> </td>
<td width="*" valign="top"> </td>
</tr>
</table>
All i want is the width of a table cell...in pixels...here's one way I've tried to get it that's not working.
$('#mytable').find('thead th').each(function(){
console.log( $(this).width() ); // <== returns 0 ???
})
However, I finally ran into a problem that I can't figure out. When I try and get the width of any cell in a table it's returning a width of 83 or 84. I have the table inside a div that has a width of 757px. I don't have a width set on the table itself, but each cell is set to 100px. I've tried to set the width in a css file and inline neither of which give me the 100px that I'm thinking it should return. I've tried both width(), outerWidth() and innerWidth(). The only one that returns a different number is outerWidth.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have to create a table using javascript. Firefox displays the expected result but for IE, the column width is screwed >"< I have to use the col tag to set width because sometimes the first row maybe merged. All I need is to create a table that strictly displays according to the inputted column widths from my program. In below I have setup very short example that construct table in a similar way to my original javascript function. I also draw a ruler to help showing the proper width of 400px on the screen. column 1 should be 100px width and column 2 should be 300px.

I've created a table in HTML but I need to specify the cell width client side. I need to loop through the cells and set the size based on the rendered size of some other elements.
I'm using the following doctype <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
This is causing me problems in Firefox. The width attribute is being set correctly but the actual table cells aren't being resized. Has anybody seen this before and does anybody have a workaround?
anyone give me some samples about using mouse to adjust column width of table;and it must can be wrapped conveniently as a java component for our client using;
the samples is more easy is better;
To build a horizontal floating menu that matches the first row (header row) of my dynamically built table (to include text and cell height/width - needs to match exactly). I have accomplished 90% of this task by extracting the text and building the row in my floating menu header and placing the floating menu where it needs to be. However, I'm having a problem aligning the table (<TD></TD>) cells because of my dynamically built table.
Scenario:
I have a table that is built dynamically. Before it is displayed, I format the table row data (code that adds text/deletes rows etc…), which alters the width of all the table cells (via JavaScript). We'll call this (for lack of a better phrase) "pre_floater_table_format_code."
I then loop through the DOM (<TD></TD>) in the first row of the table to get the text and width from each cell (using offsetWidth and/or clientWidth) and assign the text and cell width(s) to variables that I use to build my floating menu with. We'll call this (for lack of a better phrase) "get_cell_text_width_code."
Problem:
The problem is that once the table is built (and before it is altered by the "pre_floater_table_format_code") it seems as though my "get_cell_text_width_code" reads the un-processed table cell width(s) and sets these variables to the un-processed width values. The "pre_floater_table_format_code" runs much earlier than the "get_cell_text_width_code." So why wouldn't the "get_cell_text_width_code" read the cell width(s) after they've been adjusted by the "pre_floater_table_format_code?" Does this make sense? Anyone have any recommendations? Alternative solutions?
Using Jquery 1.4.4
I m currently trying to capture table cell width using jquery function width(), i m currently getting 1px width more in certain cells.
how to calculate exact width, also i believe the calulation goes wrong if i have borders.
(I believe drupal might be doing similar thing in admin panel)
(If somebody has query why i want table cell width: When a table is long and has scroll to add floating header like in drupal admin panel, by getting width of actual table cells i adjust floating header cells width using jquery)
I have very limited experience with web development so apologies if this is a stupid question. I'm using some code I found online to show/hide a table using javascript. Everything works as it should EXCEPT that in Firefox rather than having the table auto-size each column to fill up the entire width (900px), the table uses the minimum width for each column necessary to display all of the data. I've tried a number of things (setting overflow, manually specifying div width or table width, etc.) but nothing seems to get it to take up the full width as it does in IE and Chrome. You can see the page / code here: [URL]
The javscript I'm using is:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function showHide(_myObj,_action) {
var _myTableObj = document.getElementById((_myObj.parentNode.id).substring(0,(_myObj.parentNode.id).indexOf('_')));
if (_action == 'show') { .....
This script changes the image, I wanted to know if there is a way to automatically resize the div's height and width based on the actual image proportions.

I have a list of thumbnails generated by Wordpress. I've been trying to piece together a script that would change the ID of the parent element based on the image inside of it I can't seem to get anywhere, does anyone have a simple solution?
I need the id of the li to be "sm" or "smp" depending on the width of the image inside of it (landscape or portrait)
<li class="frame" id="sm">
<div class="frm" id="frame1">
<img src="image.jpg">
</div>
</li>
How can I change the height and width of an element with Javascript? I have tried and so far I can only change either the width or height but not both, doing something like this…
Code:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<script type = "text/javascript">
function changeSize(){document.getElementById('test').style.height = '200'}
[code]....
And this works fine but if I try to change both height and width it doesn’t work. Doing something like this doesn’t work
Code:
function changeSize(){document.getElementById('test').style.height = '200' width=’200’}
I know 800x600 screens occupy a shrinking part of Web surfers, but I want to accommodate them by offering an alternate style sheet where my site pages don't break when someone from this smaller group visits. Yes, there are examples of how to do this on the Web, but I have one more requirement and don't know how to code it. Not only do my pages break on 800x600, they also break if the browser widow is sized smaller on a 1024x768 screen. (I'm studying css that will dynamically respond to this but I'm not there yet.) Do I just need an appropriate if/or statement to deliver different style sheets? Is there even a JS that detects browser window changes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm taking a class in web technologies, and we're working with some basic Java.
The assignment is to have numbers 1-10 and their squares fill into a table... Then to have them sum at the end.
My problems are:
How do I change the orientation on the table output to go up and down instead of left to right?
Do I have to write another for or while loop to get the sum's for these numbers, or can I do it from within what I've already written?

had this in browsers areas but people told me I should put it here in Javascript because more people here would probably have seen it before and know why it happens. I have basic Javascript that rotates images. I've noticed any kind of Javascript code that rotates images has this same problem only in Mozilla. When the images rotate in Mozilla in between the rotations, Mozilla browser adds a little colored square that represents a blank image that are able to be seen does anyone know why Mozilla Browser adds that? For example when looking at this page in Mozilla can see it. if you know if this is some Mozilla problem with Javascript and images. Doesn't happen with IE and other browsers shows the images only and nothing else.

I am trying to customize this scrollbar so that it will fit all screen resolutions and I was wondering how I could do this by somehow customizing the JavaScript files created by Nathan Faubion or if I could do this using other JavaScript variables (var widthPercentage) to change the pixels to percentages?One of the pages on the website I'm using the JavaScript on
JavaScript file jsScroller.js:

So I didn't know whether to put this in HTML & CSS or here. So I'm just going to put it here and the mods can move it if needed.So I had this script working for auto width of a DIV, then I added DOCTYPE to the top of my document, now it won't change the width ha ha. I have tried with all DOCTYPE's and same thing.The JS I am using is:
window.onload=function(){
document.getElementById("right").style.width= + screen.width - 193;
}
As I said this worked before I added DOCTYPE to the top of the HTML. But when I add any one of the DOCTYPES it stops working.
