Capture A Form Input String ?
Jul 30, 2009
I have little experience with php & javascript hybrid pages. A friend has a webform php page that has the html form code at the bottom. The form works well but I want to take the first input text field and have it displayed in a <div> on the page the form is directed to. I have tried a few things but can't get it to work.

I have a PHP form with a html section at the bottom. There are 14 input text fields on the form and I want the form to send of the email as it should do and also take the name field, pass it to the following web page and display it in a <div> tag.
I think the relevant code looks like this
HTML section
Can I capture the input from FieldData0 and send it to the next webpage by Javascript or as a cookie? Or to have then confirm their name in a second form and automatically capture it before the submit button.
I have no script on the following page yet.

I need to capture input from a form in the run time and send those values as URL parameters using HTML POST.
I am using:
Here searchText and searchFilter are the input values. When I run the app, I don't see the values but I see "frm.searchText.value" and "frm.searchFilter.value" getting passed as parameters.
What is the right way to apply javascript here?

I can view plain text public data from a government web page. But I want to capture that text and put it into a string var in a javascript to parse the data for display in a very different way (create graphical indicators).
1. How do I get the www.webtext.gov/textpage.txt into a string var.
2. I would prefer to use pure javascript as my users are very diverse and not all of them have recent brosers (IE8 or 9, Firefox 4, 5 or 6, etc.).
3. I would be able to use php on the server if that would do it.
I have be days searching the web for a solution but have found none that suits my purpose.

How to pass jQuery variables to PHP script ?I have a simple page here that uses the PHP GD library to create an image of text in a font at a set size.Select the text, size and press set and the text should be set at that size.http:[url]....I want to do this without the page reloading so I'm trying capture the input with jQuery and pass them to the php script.
Code:

$(function(){
$('.button').click(function(e){[code].....
Alerts show that the correct info is being captured.The php script is being called because it's that thats producing the grey box on the page.The problem is the text isn't being produced with the box.Am I passing the jQuery variables to PHP script correctly ? How can I check they are being received by the PHP script ?
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"

I have been trying to find a simple way to capture the page title for a form that will be used throughout my site.Basically, creating a javascript function to allow a user to email a page to a colleague. Of course I only want to have one form, so I wanted to capture the referrering page information.I have had no trouble capturing the referring URL using javascript, associating it with a form field and passing it through PHP validation and emailing it.I am having trouble doing the same for the title. I have tried to capture these with an onLoad event, but that didn't work (for title only - works for others).
Here's the js which is referenced on the html pages (link to external file):
// JavaScript Document
function start() {
var ref = document.getElementById('httpref');

I have a web server built in to our Student Data system. I want to put a teacher survey form out there but can't modify the DB and have no cgi ... darn proprietary web server.
Can I use JS to save form values to a separate text file? So far the best I can do is appendData() into the current html.

We have a webpage that has a form available on the intranet.
A user will have a window open that runs a different application open.
When the user accesses the webpage and clicks a button we should
capture the data from the application window and populate the form.
Is it possible to access text inside another opened window on the client
pc, using javascript?
Any ideas on how to do this?

I have a lot of checkboxes/input's and when they are clicked/filled out I need to add that value to the <COMMETNS> section of the xml string, which is the hidden input's value. Is this close to the right way? Again the xml string is the hidden input #AGREEMENTS value
<input type="hidden" id="AGREEMENTS" name="AGREEMENTS" value="<AGREEMENTS><AGREEMENT><CODE>XNNonproStatus</CODE><VERSION>KV000001</VERSION><DATETIME><?php echo $SubmitDATETIME ?></DATETIME><COMMENT>'SECQualified' + ( $('[name=SECQualified]').val() ),'InvestmentAdvisor' + ( $('[name=Advisor]').val() ), 'Subscribing' + ( $('[name=Subscribing]').val() ), 'Billed' + ( $('[name=BName]').val() )</COMMENT></AGREEMENT><AGREEMENTS>" />
Should I make a click function for each checkbox?

I can't seem to get this working correctly. I have several radio buttons and checkboxes. Based on them being checked I need to add that value to an input (which will be hidden) to be passed as a form parameter. The input they are added to is wrapped in xml tags. Currently it is simply overwriting each value, not adding them to the string. One value "IKNTK" needs to be passed regardless.

Let me preface this with the usual disclaimer: I am new to this and have only been programming with Javascript, PHP for about 2 weeks now and have been lucky enough to have resolved the issues I have encountered. This one however is puzzling to me.
I have a HTML form created that collects member information. It calls, on submit, a confirmation page that lists all the data fields entered. This all works great. However, when I then post the variables from the first html form page from my second confirmation html page to my PHP script, using document.write with input type=hidden and inserting the address variable into the value field, the Javascript only passes this variable up to the first space. It is the only variable I pass that has a space in it.
I have verified that the variable does indeed contain the whole address and I have also verified when I execute the following: document.write ('<input type="hidden" name="address1" value='+address_1+'>');
the address_1 parameter passed to the php script only passes the string up to the first space.
I even tried to put fixed text in there instead of a variable (e.g.)
document.write ('<input type="hidden" name="address1" value="555 Drury Lane" >');
and it still only passes the string up to the first space (555).
I show the variable address_1 on my confirmation page and it shows the entire string.
I checked what was being passed and it seems that the Javascript is the culprit (or more likely the Javascript creator - me)
All my other variables (which don't have spaces) pass to the php script with no problems.

I've have a function to take the value entered in a form text box, add 50 to it and put the result in another text box.
When I enter 650.5 I get 700.5 exactly how I'd expect. But when I enter -650.5 instead of getting -600.5 I get -650.050 as though it is failing to parse the float due to it being negative. My understanding of parseFloat was that it recognises negative numbers. Is there a nice simple way to get this to work?

I need to pass user input from a form to one database field. I'm relatively new to JS but the idea I had was to have several form elements and use JS to collect the users input and send all the values through a hidden element. What's happening is the variable names are being sent rather than the values. The code below is only passing to the next page. Limitations: I am editing an intranet site built by a 3rd party so a lot of the files we've been given are encrypted. I cannot change the method to post.

I have a form that has a reset button, and when it's closed, the form is reset. However, at least in testing on my own machine, I notice that the form fields are remembering past input (on Firefox 4 anyway). Once this goes public, I don't want the form remembering anything in case the website is viewed on a public machine. How can I keep the form fields from remembering any past input?
