Building A Dynamic Select Menu From Values Selected In Other Fields?
Jun 21, 2010
i'm trying to build a small script for predicting Worldcup football winners. participants have to predict the teams in both the semi finals and final. a select menu with all participating countries will be given for 2 semi finals. suppose if a persons selects Argentina and Brazil for Semi 1, then the values of Final select menu should be Argentina and Brazil. Similarly for Semi 2, if Denmark and Italy selected, then the select menu for final2 should be Denmark and Italy.
my html (with only a few no. of countries is below:
[CODE]
<b>Semi Final 1:</b><select id="semi11" class="select menufield_101" name="semi11" onchange="ChangeValue(this);">
<option value="empty">Select a SemiFinalist</option>
<option value="Algeria">Algeria</option>
I am trying to make several fields in a HTML form validated, but only when a dynamic checkbox is selected. I am not sure how to do this.
Here is a snippet of the dynamic checkbox code: <% Set RSLIST = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") SQLLIST = "SELECT * FROM Newsletters ORDER BY Newsletter_Name" RSLIST.Open SQLLIST, Conn, 1, 3 %> <%Do While Not RSLIST.EOF%> <input type="checkbox" name="Newsletters" value="<%=RSLIST("ID")%>"><%=RSLIST("Newsletter_Name")%>
I would like to make three fields (company, phone_work, license) mandatory when one of the "ID" (i.e. ID 2) is checked.
I am having a form with a drop down and want to display the fields below it based on the drop down value selected.
for example: my form has a drop down <select value> <values: A, B ,C, D)
when I select A then I should get displayed a set of fields ( like input fields, drop down fields etc) just below the main drop down and when I choose B then it should display a set of fields specific to B and like that..

What technology / script to use this to achieve this. I have also attached the sample html page.
I have a select element that has up to 200 items in a drop down. Each <option> element has a value 1 to 200, ie., <option value="1">text</option>, etc.
Given a list of values, such as 4, 43, 123, 199, how can I use that list to call a function and write "Selected" for those option elements in the drop down menu?
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
I need "description1" to be passed as the text (or hidden text) "Disaster Relief Fund" and I need a separate hidden text "item1" to be passed as "3563".
I have a dynamic drop down menuit populates just finei want to populate my table on the same page based on the selection the user makes from the drop down menu with the information from my database.i have no problem accessing my database or with the drop down but im not at all proficient with javascript which is what i keep seeing with the "onchange" function.
When a user clicks "Add To Basket" I need some javascript to check that the size option they have selected is not "-" in the form before the actual form is submitted. my form is like so:
cna anyone tell me how to use the Select = "selected" option for a simple dropdown. for example when someone chooses c it will have a code like <option selected="">c</option> (am I doing it right, well if you got a firebug some site with dropdowns offers that option) so can anyone tell me how that works. I will be using it for a purpose of just selecting parts on my array, well incorporating it
I have a form that has two radio buttons. When the first one is clicked, I would like the page to refresh (keeping the form data in tact) and then displaying 2 new fields that need to be filled out. If the second button is clicked, I need the same thing to happen, only it will display two different fields needing to be filled out.
Does anyone have code that will do this? Or is this even possible with JavaScript?
I have a flash file that calls this JS function. It basically adds a number to a comma separated string. this works fine.
var select = ""; function selectCounty (cid){ select = cid + "," + select; } The flash also calls this function to remove a value from the string. The removeVal() function works. though, the *select* variable is not reforming into a string. I'm missing how to then put the array into a form that this is part of.
function unSelectCounty (cid){ // split the *select* string into an array var select_array = select.split(/,/);
// remove *cid* value from array unselect = removeVal(select_array, cid);
// reset *select* var select = ""; for (i=0;i<unselect.length;i++){ if (unselect[i] != ''){ select = unselect[i] + "," + select; } } } function removeVal(arr, valToRemove){ // Normalize to a string like !val!!val!!val! var s = '!' + arr.join('!!') + '!' // Remove targeted values with delimiters s = s.replace(new RegExp('!' + valToRemove + '!', 'g'), ''); // Remove delimiter added to end in step 1 s = s.replace(/^!/, ''); // Remove delimiter added to start in step 1 s = s.replace(/!$/, ''); // Convert to array return s.split('!!'); } Please help with these two problems-
1) i cant get the *select* string in unSelectCounty() to reform correctly. 2) i am unsure what to write so that the value of *select* is passed in POST form array. it can accept it either as an array or a string.
I have searched the web and this forumn with no results. I need to replace the value in a second select menu with the value from the firts select menu. So if I select ACD from the first menu it should go thru all the option values in menu 2 and replace the '~' with 'Computing'
I have a website which displays routes on a map. The data behind this is held in a MySQL database. What I want to do is to be able to click a button and the current route information would be download in a gpx file (xml variant) for that route, built from the database. I'm using shtml, Javascript and perl. Is it possible? The formatting of the data is not an issue. I am a real novice and have self taught enough to get where the site is today, so please be gentle.
It is kind of difficult to explain what I am trying to do here, I will provide the form here to give a better idea.
<ul> <li>Select the type of your starting point of interest:<br/> <div id="start_menu"><form action="test_getrss.php" name="form1" method="post"> <span><input type="radio" value="Apartment" name="start"

I get values for start_time, end_time and semester, but not the last two values. I noticed that the first two forms here are dynamically generated from Ajax.
How can I pass the values of these two selected menus to the third form, to process.php so the values can be retrieved?
I want to build a dynamic list of items with jquery but am unsure how to add an index number to each of the items i create so that i can reference them to edit or delete them for example. So far, I have the following which just creates the items and appends or prepends them to the element depending on whether one item exists already. I just need a way of adding an attribute so I can then reference the current item when clicked and remove it. What would be the simplest method to use?
//create list items if ($('.mylistitem').length) { $('.myList-box').prepend('<div class="mylistitem"><div class="mylistitem-image"><img width="30" height="40" src="[URL]"/></div><div class="mylistitem-title">' + title + '</div><div class="mylistitem-options"><a href="javascript:removetitle();">Delete From List</a></div>'); } else { $('.myList-box').append('<div class="mylistitem"><div class="mylistitem-image"><img width="30" height="40" src="[URL]' + titleid + '"/></div><div class="mylistitem-title">' + title + '</div><div class="mylistitem-options"><a href="javascript:removetitle();">Delete From List</a></div>'); }
I wanted to create a small DHTML code that created a unordered list of input forms dependent on the number selected from the select dropdown menu. Problem is that it doesn't seem to want to generate the list. I think the variables are within the scope of the function too, and I didn't get an errors from the javascript console when using firebug. The script itself runs, I tested it when I used the old standby alert(); to see if the script was active. Here's the code:
1) Feature a small set of icons that would be placed on the right-side of a div
2) If someone clicked on one of the icons, the component would slide out towards the right, featuring various UI elements (i.e. descriptive text and form elements). The component slides out to match the width of the content (not fixed width)
3) The slider slides back if the user clicks on the "X" in top right corner or moves their mouse/clicks outside the slider area.
4) A nice to have would be if the component is towards the right side of the screen, the component slides out left (so it does not go outside the screen area or show a horizontal slider on the bottom of the screen window).
A visual of what I am trying to accomplish can be found in the attached file.
Each link on mouseover, popups to the right and shows links to different pages within the site. example.. pumps. pops up the mouseover window and has 3 links to 3 different pumps, each on a separate pages. Where as the moters link may have 25 links to different kinds of motors etc.
I've built a tool where users can search for something & the results show up in a select list as selectable options..... sometimes the results can take a few seconds to load depending on how many results there are... so I was attempting to show some "Results are loading" text when they search, & then hide it when they are displayed.
However for some reason it's not working correctly.. both commands don't appear to work until the select list options have loaded & hence rendering them redundant.... I have tried putting them inside separate functions but no change in the behavior.
What basically happens is I press the button to search & it searches & once the results show up so does the loading text.... however if I include the hide text command then the text doesn't show at all as it's hidden as soon as it's shown.
Here is the code I am using..
function searchCats(text) { // Set URL for ajax request var url = 'search_cats.php?search_text='+text; // Set up element we're modifying
I have this order form where the customers can change the quantity by intput in a text field.I would like to have the text field changed with select fields, but doing so in the form, the script is not doing anymore.Can anyone have a look and tell me what to change in the scritp to accept select fields in place of the text fields.
I need to get the values of two hidden fields and values that make a query in my database and return this column to a text field in the same form, I have already informed the forum here that can do that with Ajax, researched and made an example But it is not working.
I have created a jquery accordion menu for a brilliant CMS called 'Concrete5' and all works lovely BUT I now would like the menu to stay open if a menu item is selected within the drop list.I have manged to create the following.....
var pathname = window.location.pathname; var selecteda = $(".nav-selected a").attr("href"); // alert (selecteda)
[code]....
..but it doesn't seem to work.I'm not a JQuery GOD like most of you on here but I am trying my hardest The accordion menu I am trying to get this to happen on is Accordion Menu.
