Attach Onclick And Onchange Events To All Input Fields
May 24, 2010
I am trying to create a script that onload will attach an onclick and onchange event to all fields.I have also tried using setAttribute instead of attachEvent and it still does not work.Basically what the events do is disable a interval when an input field is selected and enable the interval when it is no longer selected.
Have an asp page that user selects a week from date picker and it returns data from sql table in a series of checkboxes for overtime availability. i.e., for the week of 10/10/2011 the checkboxes are Monday through Sunday, the user clicks the checkboxes they want to work overtime and hits a submit button. Let's assume they chose Monday and Wednesday. If they go back to this page later and pick the week of 10/10/2011 the sql table shows checked in the Monday and Wednesday checkboxes.
They can then make any changes they want, hit the submit button, and that sql record is updated with the new data. So on to the issue. For audit purposes, there is another sql table called ot_audit. What I want to do is every time one of the checkboxes is changed (pre hitting the submit button), I need a new record added to the ot_audit table. It will show a datetime stamp, who made the change, what was clicked, and if it was checked or unchecked. I'm new here and all I know is there are onChange and onClick events. Lost after that.
I am working on a simple control panel where I have text input fields in which a user can click on a text box and the text will automatically focus and select. I have done this fine. However, when I use the same onclick event for multiple fields, only the last one created works. So, if I were to comment out the password and email field additions, then the userName field would work correctly. If I were to just comment out the email field, password would work correctly but userName would not. And finally, if I have the code as is, userName and password do not function correctly while email does.
The simplified code below works, and should give you an idea of what Im trying to achieve. The final version will have dozens of input fields so you can see why the below method stinks :D
<html><head><title>Values</title> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function getid() {
[Code].....
Each text input will have A or B written in by the user, which should automatically place that letters associated ID in its partner field. If any other letter is entered the ID will automatically be left blank.
With the above code I'd need to repeat it over and over for each of the dozens of input fields. The final version wont be using simply A/B either but around 50 possible inputs each with their own ID which would make around 1000 possible variations.
I want to attach a js function to be called when a img is clicked and I'm changing the functions of onclick based on the image. I used setattribute but it doesn't works in IE. So I decided to use object.onclick = somefunction; but my functions are based on parameters and the whole function runs based on the passed parameter.
So I tried: like this object.onclick = "somefunction('"+mat+"')"; but doesn't work. I need a code which can attach the function on click event for both firefox and IE.
i have a dropdownlist with some values,ex: One, Two and Three; One being the default value selected on load of dropdown listWhen I select Two or Three, there is onselectedchange event fired and I can write custom code in handler. But I also want to do some custom handling when page is loaded and user justs clicks on default value of "One". I want to take an action when user clicks on default value, "One" of dropdwn.
I have just started my adventure with jQuery. I wrote a post on a forum and a men wrote me:"Don't mix javascript with the html of the view as in your <body onLoad="load()">, but put it in a different javascript file thatyou include. In the JQuery tutorial there are example of how to attach events to DOM elements without "touching" the html. "I know how to put my javaScript code to the a ****.js file but I don't can not find any information how to do:attach events to DOM elements without "touching" the html. I was looking for a tutorial here but I couldn't find
I've done extensive searching, but each example or explanation I come across is too different from my own, so it's ultimately no use. The problem is that I barely know anything when it comes to Javascript, but yet I'm trying to use it. I have a form on a page. This form contains 6 <select> elements, each with its own <option>Other</option> element. If something isn't listed, the user can choose "Other" and then type into a textbox which appears.
I have the following code, which works great if only applied to one <select> element. <select name="How did you hear about us?" id="How did you hear about us?" onchange="makeBox1()"> <option value="0" selected="selected">-- Select --</option> <option value="1">Search Engine</option> <option value="2">Referral</option> <option value="3">Trade Publication</option> <option value="4">Vendor Web Site</option> <option value="5">Your Company Website</option> <option value="6">Direct Mail</option> <option value="7">Other</option> </select><div id = "inputBox1"></div> <script type = "text/javascript"> function makeBox1() { var a = "<input type = 'text' name = 'box1' id = 'box1' class='form popup'>" if (document.getElementById("How did you hear about us?").value==7) { document.getElementById("inputBox1").innerHTML = a; } else { document.getElementById("inputBox1").innerHTML = ""; }} </script>
I've read that you have to combine onchange events, but I have no idea how to do this (I've done plenty of trial and error, trying to make every item unique, but to no avail.
I have a button which creates a clone of the current row. Within each row is a drop down box for which the users can select red or yellow, which represent soccer cards. Based on that selection it calls a function which populates a div tag with the appropriate drop down options for that card color. The problem I am having is that the function is updating all div tags with the drop down selections and not the one for my current row. Please note that the drop down selection box is not guaranteed to be the last row in the table. The referee could go back and realize, that he or she made a mistake and make a change to the second row. So I need this to always be applicable to the current row of editing.
I am trying to tie the value of an image src to two onChange events. the events are drop down boxes in a form. I do have a couple of single event driven peices working so I think my logic is sound. I originally tried to do this with multiple if statements that tested both conditions/events. I have since given each event it's own function. I have no idea what i am doing wrong. the onChange events have no effect on the image display at all. The default image just stays in place. My JS knowledge is limited but it looks correct as far as I can tell. What am I missing.Here are the functions:
First time here. I have had no luck searching on Google or here regarding this. I am trying to tie the value of an image src to two onChange events. the events are drop down boxes in a form. I have been looking for the past 2 days for a script that I can add and delete table rows.
I have found a lot but so far all of them add an input field but I desperatly need a textarea or ideally a section of input fields.
I have tried to change the code from input to text area but none of them worked.
Have you come across to a similar script.
I would appreciate any contributions.
What I am trying to do is a page where the user will add their employees details so we can order business cards for them. So I have fileds such as, Name, Tel Num, Email, Cell etc.
My script is designed to show a simple question and the user submits the answer using onchange via the tab key. If the answer is correct the next question appears and so on. But if it's wrong there's an alert and the user stays at that question and has another go to enter a correct answer to move on. It works well as long as user gets answer right. If they enter a wrong answer I'd like that answer box to clear and be focussed (ie cursor in place). Problem is, using the tab key has already sent the cursor off to highlight the address bar! I can get it to work if each answer box has a submit button and I use onclick but I really want to change the submit function to a keystroke, pref TAB.
Code: <HTML><HEAD> <SCRIPT language=javascript type=text/javascript> function thetests(){ document.theform.prob1.focus(); } [Code]...
<script type="text/javascript"> function test_func() { alert("You clicked the map."); } </script> <form action="#"> <input type="button" onclick="test_func();" value="Test"/> </form>
It works fine, but I want the form to call test_func onchange instead of onclick. I want to add an input type='text' named call_func that when changed, will call the test_func function.
I have an input text with an onchange event that calls a function in which an alert box displays. I also have a button whose onclick calls a different function. If the user makes a change in the input text and immediately clicks the button, the onchange event fires, displaying the alert box, but the code in the function for the onclick of the button doesn't execute. I've read that this has something to do with event bubbling, but I haven't seen any solutions.
I have a small HTML form that has a textfeild which when clicked on open a calender, this works fine. I also want to display the selected date in another textfeild using "OnChange". This is what I am working with:
I have two drop-down fields that are populated separately from the database. Here is my HTML/PHP code Drop-down field #1 <tr class=bodyTRstyle> <td width="35%"><p align="left">Venue</td> <td class=fieldTDstyle width="269"><p align="left"> <select name="VenueName" class=VenueName><option selected><?php echo $VenueName?></option
<?php $SelectVenueQuery="select * from venue order by VenueName"; $SelectVenueResult=mysql_query($SelectVenueQuery); while ($VenueRow=mysql_fetch_array($SelectVenueResult)){ extract($VenueRow); echo "<option value='$VenueName'>$VenueName";}?> </select></td></tr>
Drop-down Field #2 <tr class=bodyTRstyle> <td width="35%"><p align="left">Results</td> <td class=fieldTDstyle width="269"><p align="left"> <select name="GameResults" class=GameResults><option selected> <?php echo $GameResults?></option <?php $ResultsQuery="select * from result order by ResultDate"; $ResultsQueryResult=mysql_query($ResultsQuery);
While ($ResultsRow=mysql_fetch_array($ResultsQueryResult)){ extract($ResultsRow); echo "<option value='$ResultDate'>$ResultDate";}?> </select></td></tr>
This code works well as long as the two drop-downs are independent of each other. The result table has VenueName as an element, so each venue has a set of result records in the result table. This is how I want to change it: The Venue dropdown will remain as it is. Once the Venue Name is selected I want the result dropdown to populate with ONLY the result records containing a match on VenueName that was selected in the venue dropdown. How do I do that? Is it with a onChange Event? What are the changes that need to be made? How do I communicate to the second drop-down what was selected in the Venue drop-down??
I have a pretty basic set of things I want to do: Capture key press, compare against an allowed list, block keys that are not in that list, replace a space by a dash if entered. As this is happening, I have a span I wanted to be updated with the live values. The username field at [URL] is exactly what I am trying to do, though I have trouble dissecting how they did it. Here is my attempt, which is off by one keypress for some reason.
I have a dynamic form with fields named using brackets ([]). Validation is working for fields that existed on the initial page load, but when I add append the code for a new field, the validation events are, of course, not attached to the new DOM elements. What's the best way to accomplish this?
Is it possible to add an onclick event to an iframe or perhaps a DIV that holds an iframe?
In specific I am using the Facebook Open Graph like button code...
What I would like to do is add a simple onclick event to it so that I can run a process when the user clicks on it, at the moment I am just trying alert but cannot get it to work. By setting the iframe within a DIV with height/width specs set would an onclick event work within the DIV?
