I have a 2 level combo box that are dependent on each other and what I want to happen when the "submit" button is selected is for an html text answer to be displayed on the same page below the combo boxes based off of what was selected in the second combo box. I've tried using hide/show functions with JavaScript but couldn't figure out how to link the 2 scripts together.
What I have is as follows:
Regarding 2 combo boxes dependent with each other. Like the STATE AND CITY, when you select a STATE then depending on the state you selected ONLY CITIES under that will be populated on the 2nd combo box.

I am keeping all the data of the markers in this XML file, I am dynamically loading the map information using AJAX from the XML file. Now what I want to do is to have a combo box, populate all the names of the combo box and when a specific location is selected the map will pan to the selected marker. Now the place I am stuck is that I cannot get the data names in the XML file to load into the marker. Basically I have tried various methods I searched on the internet that would be the last one I checked [URL]. Another one is that I used this line:

my issue is both a php and a javascript (AJAX) one its one or the other. I have two combo boxes one dependant on the other, populated by AJAX but when I submit the form the secondary combo is not being registered as a php $_POST['var'] in the following action page. The secondary combo is contained and altered using divs and inner.HTML. Is this an expected behaviour or is my issue else where?

When a person signs up for my website it first adds them to my external email list and then to my MySQL database.In order to do this you have to pass the information of the form to the next page where you can "display" it. Nothing except this display function seems to work.So what I am trying to do is take what is outputted by this display button and store it in a javascript variable. Then transfer this variable to a form which will auto submit and start the PHP registration pulling the output of the script, right now I can either get an undefined or the entire HTML code. What I have got is a form that a user has to fill out and submit (when validated all variables are stored in a session and emailed after multiple forms are completed), currently I have radio buttons, text boxes and a combo box/ drop down list (for location). All parts are working fine and validating fine. My problem is to do with the combo box//ddl. I have successfully validated the ddl so the user must select a location onsubmit and it is added to session and passed fine.At the moment the ddl only has cities or towns in it however as I would like to include different states and possibly different countries I need a code that validates the state first and then only gives the cities/towns that are in that state (otherwise my ddl would be to large). I can do this with links however I can't seem to do it in a form.

Right now I am using a javascript search script on 7 pages and it works but the results overwrite the current page that the search was initiated from. I would like it to open a new page and print out into a specific area. Im not really proficient in js, tho I know enough to get by. since ive been grinding my gears at work trying to get this to display right. Which means I have to call the next $.getJSON within that callback function to read the next portion of data. In my opinion this is not very readable code...What I want is a nice and readable piece of code. Where you could just write it like this:

I've found a solution here: [URL] (explains my problem perfectly). But it's not compatible with the getJSON story. Is there already a possibility to do this with the jquery library?

I have a web application that has a few div tags in the base index.html and calls a java app for the output to the div tags. All is working ok, except when I try to format a ms-excel document as output from the java (to the div tag). If I invoke the java app directly in a web browser, the excel popup window comes up and my output goes to an excel document. However, if I invoke the java app (using Ajax request/response) I get the output to the div tag and the excel popup does not come up. Is this something special/different I need to do when using a div tag/Ajax?

I am now working on making the selection of that combo box populate another combo box with items from another table. I can hard the sql code for the 2nd combo box so that when I select an option it populates more text boxes, but want the contents of the 2nd combo box to dynamically change depending on the selection of the 1st box. I would like this to do it without refreshing the page after each 1st combo box selection.
The 2nd box does not populate with the below code as I guess the variable isn't populated, I can put '1' in and it selects products with that prodid, but as explained above i'd like it to read the prodid from the 1st combo box.

I have an onclick that triggers ajax which calls a php script to pull data from MySQL. This information is then displayed in a div. The problem I am having is that sometimes pulling the data from MySQL takes 2-3 seconds, so the div is empty for about 2-3 seconds. How would I go about adding an animated "Loading" gif to display in the div while it is waiting to display the content?

I have created a servlet that does nothing more than create a XML file.i have got some JQuery code that reloads the servlet to get the XML data.This works fine and i am able to load the data i want, the problem i have is that when the data is loaded to the jsp page it displays [object Document] in front of my output.

I have a script that uses ajax and php to search a database and show the results. What it is doing at the moment is it takes the user input from the search form, and then send that to php page via ajax, and what ever PHP page returns it just show that at once, for example, if php returns 20 rows, it will show them all at once. What i want is that it will show row by row instead of at once. Like it search and then display row 1, then 2 then 3 then 4 so on till the end. So i dont want all the search to be displayed at once.
