Storing Output Of A Display Script As A Variable?

Nov 8, 2010

When a person signs up for my website it first adds them to my external email list and then to my MySQL database.In order to do this you have to pass the information of the form to the next page where you can "display" it. Nothing except this display function seems to work.So what I am trying to do is take what is outputted by this display button and store it in a javascript variable. Then transfer this variable to a form which will auto submit and start the PHP registration pulling the output of the script, right now I can either get an undefined or the entire HTML code. Is there another option?Here is my code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"

Storing Text From Dynamically Generated Output?

Jan 23, 2011

I have script that is dynamically generating updates on my page. The code is this:

Code:

<a id="cc_stream_info_song" target="new">Loading...</a>

The id tag links to a js script on a remote server and replaces the "loading" text with the song title of the currently playing song on my shoutcast server, and refreshes this every 60 seconds. I want to be able to grab this song title and put it in a php variable. I don't have access to the remote server, so I don't have any other way of getting the updated song title outside of this little snippet. I tried using php output buffering but all that does is grab the html I posted above, and not the javascript-generated song title.

Storing An Element's Colour As A Variable?

Jun 4, 2009

I tried and tried for so long to get this to work, but I just can't.

Here's what I did:

var testvar = document.getElementById('example').style.color;
alert(testvar);

Not only would the alert come up empty each time, but IE reports that "testvar" is undefined. Why isn't it working? And if I'm going about it the wrong way, how can I store an element's style info, such as font colour like in this example, as a variable?

Script Checkbox Not Storing In Variable

Dec 8, 2010

I was wondering if someone could help me on a problem I have been having. In my code my function is supposed to take the elements of the form and it checks to see if it is checked or not. After that it would store it in the variable checkbox. However when I test it out it will not store it in the variable. For example if I picked sleep/ standby checkbox and hit submit it will show as 06 instead of just 6. Don't know what I am doing wrong. Here is my [code]...

Storing Page Source As A Variable?

Mar 26, 2010

I need to write a script that parses a web page for a given delimiter and then stores the following 50 characters as a variable. I wrote the following php script:

Code:
<?php
$del = "picture_id";
$url = "http://xxxx.net/xxxxx/xxxxxx.php?do=xxxx";
$source = file_get_contents($url);

[Code]....

The delimiter is always going to be constant, however the succeeding characters will be different each and every time. I need to write this in Javascript because it is hosted on my server, and ran by users who post on my brothers message board (which is hosted elsewhere). Since Php is server side I always get "guest" as a value rather than the random string of characters like it should be.

Code:

Checkboard Pattern - Three Output Statements To Display

Oct 24, 2009

This code not sure what the final result should be.
<?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 StrictEN" [URL]">
<!-- Exercise 7.25 Solution -->
<html xmlns = "[URL]">
<head>
<title>Solution 7.25</title>
<script type = "text/javascript">
<!--
var side = 8;
var row;
document.writeln( "<pre>");
while(side>=1){
row = 8
if (side % 2 != 0)
document.write(" ")
while(row >= 1){
document.write("* ")
row -= 1;
} end while
document.writeln();
side -= 1;
} end while
document.writeln("</pre>")
-->
</script></head><body>
<p>Click Refresh (or Reload) to run this script again.</p>
</body></html>

This what I got when I ran the script. Click Refresh (or Reload) to run this script again. These ere the constraints of the assignment. Write a script that outputs XHTML text that displays the checkerboard pattern: Your program may use only three output statements to display the pattern:
1. Only one document. write( "* " );
2. Only one document. write( " " );
3. and Only one document. writeln(); writes a newline character
You may use XHTML tags (e. g., < pre>) for alignment purposes.
[Hint: Repetition structures are required in this exercise.]

JQuery :: Output Variable In Each(function())

So far everything is ok.

Also, I would get a variable increment that I create in the function and I want to find out of it.

Unfortunately, I can not recover.

Here is an example of my script:

// start
// "i" is my increment variable
var i = 0;
$(this).find('foo').each(function(i){ // run correctly x time
i = i++;

Calculator Calculation - 1st Number Entered Displaying It And Storing It In The Variable "memory"

Feb 13, 2011

This is calculator program that I have gotten stuck on. Here is where I think I am at:

The program is now taking the 1st number entered displaying it and storing it in the variable "memory".

Operation (+,-,*,/) is added to the memory in function action1() but then when the second number is entered it replaces memory with the second number. How can I get the variable memory to the whole string of 1st number,action, 2nd number?

Also once I do get that working correctly:

Wouldn't eval(document.calculator.display.value= memory) in my HTML for the "=" give me the calculation. (if I could figure out how to have memory store the 1st number and action1 and 2nd number all together) Or would eval(document.calculator.display.value) do it for me.

Interval Timers And The Value Of Them - Get -1 As The Output When ValueOf() The Variable

Nov 26, 2011

Here is a bit of a conundrum, it you have an interval timer and it is interrupted say by a clearInterval call, how can you tell how far along the interval the timer was when it was canceled? When I look at an object that is an setInterval() event timer, I get -1 as the output when I valueOf() the variable. What I am wondering is if for example the following

Code:
var thisIntervalTimer = setInterval("onceAminute()",60000); the interval of one minute passes between updates, apart from setting up a tracking variable to track milliseconds, does the thisIntervalTimer possess any user accessible values like thisIntervalTimer.getMilliseconds; to return the current 'tick' value of the interval timer attached to the variable thisIntervalTimer. What I would be interested in is if any method exists to access any properties of this object, they must exist in some form as how would the browser know what event timer to update or trigger.

Getting Variable Values To Display?

Mar 6, 2011

I am fairly new to coding HTML with Javascript. I am hitting my head onto the table because i cannot figure out how to pull the variable value out in a document.write statement. Basically, I am calling a function to give me a random number between 1-4. I use that randomNumber to attach to different .jpg, descriptions, and URL's. So far, i have only got the image to display, but unable to get the link and description to display. Basically, i am trying to diplsay random ads and links like the one at the top of this page.

p.s. I know I am getting the randomNumber out of my function becasue I can call a simple document.write(randomNumber) and it works. Substitute adDesc and adURL in place of randomNumber and I also get the description and link respectively.

Display Value Of A Variable Inline?

For instance the delivery time may change from 1 week to 2 weeks depending on the time of year. Since the sections I want to change frequently may have a bit of text I would link the template of my site to the external JavaScript file external.js. In that file I would declare the variable and assign it a value related to the shipping time (see below). code...
