the below script I'm trying to validate if the user enters a quantity in the text box they must select a reason for ordering and if the user selects a reason code but forgets to enter a quantity it should alert to enter a quantity. Right now it validates the reason code but not the quantity. Please help.
I want to select numbers from a list box and add it to a text box with comma separated. my java script code does not work into browser but work fine into eclipse jsp view.
function passingNumbersToTextArea(numToCall,allNum) { var numFromList=document.getElementById(allNum); var numToTextArea=document.getElementById(numToCall); if(numToTextArea.value.search(numFromList.value)!=-1)//if duplicate Number is exist { alert("Duplicate Number Can not be added :"); return false; } else { if(numToTextArea.value.length!=0) { // If textarea has value than it added another value with comma seperated numToTextArea.value=numToTextArea.value+','+numFromList.value; return false; } else { numToTextArea.value=numFromList.value; return false; } } }
javascript debugger shows error Error ``numToTextArea is null'' [x-] in file ``http://localhost:8888/SparkServiceProvisioningSystem/home.jsf'', line 21, character 0. I just know basic HTML & CSS. However, was working on a project that would require a little javascript. It's for a travel agency and the idea behind it is there is a "booking page" that is basically an html form with a bunch of hidden values (like the destination airport code, the origin airport code, etc). The only thing a potential customer has to do is use a selection list and pick the dates available for that travel sale and hti submit. However, there's a new promotion coming out next week where if you book to travel for certain dates, you can use a promo code to save $100 on your vacation. What I would like to know is if there is anyway I can use javascript so that if a person selects the promotional dates, it auto-populates the promotional code text field.
I've been tasked to create a form where the user types a numeric item id into a text field. Typing this numeric item id into the field will update a select list when the item id matches a select list value.
On a simple html page I included jQuery. The page contains a big form including text input fields as well as select list fields (with multiple values).
I want to combine the values from all fields (text and select list) into one (hidden) textarea.
I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.
I have a MySQL table with 90 columns and I want the users to be able to select any columns they concern and output the result accordingly. In the front-end, I can use a group of checkbox which looks very ugly and I can not setup the orders for selected columns. Is there a plug-in or some examples in jQuery, that I can make 2 parallel boxes (i.e. an original-box and a selected-box). the original- box lists all of the column names at the beginning and there is a way to move items between two boxes. And the order of items in the selected-box can be adjusted. the items in the selected-box will be used to build into an array in my backend code.
I have a HTML form that contains input fields, checkboxes and a list menu. I can check to make sure a user has entered data in the input fields and I can also check if the user has selected a checkbox.I can't figure out how to check if a user has selected an item from with in my list menu.
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County).I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database.This piece of code is working well . . . .
<?php
$link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database');[code]......
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
When a user changes the select list called "reason_code_master" I need the uodatecodes() function to update all the other select list with the id of "reason_codes" with the same . How can I do this.
I've used the excellent validate plugin (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/) to add JS validation to forms. I'm aware there's a built-in setting to validate an email address. However, I'd like to validate a list of email addresses, and I don't think the plugin contains a built-in solution. What's the best way to implement this?
How to validate an input field for a set group of zip codes. Basically I have a list of about 200 zip codes that are valid for this project I'm working on. I tried using the range method and wasn't able to get it to do what I needed it to do. I don't want anyone else to see what the list of correct zip codes are, this is to verify that they are local.
I am trying to refactor some forms I wrote a while back to use jQuery validate instead of custom validation. I want the forms to be validated from the start, but when a user clicks into any input the error should be cleared until the user leaves the input. It seems like focusCleanup is exactly what I am looking for, but in my opinion it doesn't work properly for select boxes.
When you click into the text input it works exactly as I had hoped, but when you click into the select box it clears the errors for a second and then immediately reevaluates it.
[Code]...
I know that I could get this functionality by hacking it in, but I am hoping to find a clean way, using the plugin, to get my desired output. Anyone else think that the focusCleanup is broken for selects?
I am trying to display/hide different div tags when a checkbox is checked and when a California is selected as a drop-down value. I have it working when the check-box is selected and choosing the drop-down value, but not when the drop-down is selected and clicking the check-box.I hope this is an easy fix and my newbie-ness is at fault.

Suppose that I have this as choices in my select lists:
Kid List John Jane Rumpelstilskin Fruit List Apple Mango Orange
And if I select Rumpelstilskin in the kid list, I want to make sure he wouldn't be able to pick Mango, no matter how hard he tries. I tried using onblur + onclick + onkeyup + onkeydown + onfocus then all of them contains the same validation function, but still when I change it the last value is the one that gets selected. How would I do it so that if I press down and Rump is not chosen but Mango it's okay, but when I change to Rump it automatically validates and revokes him of Mango? And in any way imaginable? Is there an onall method for html?Here's some test code I'm fiddling with so as not to be labeled as not showing some code:
I have been trying to validate both the Radio button and the Select Option box, but it does not work. It didn't show error, only din't do the way I want.I like to validate like this:If a user check "Yes" on this Radio button, then the OPTION box is disabled and no need to validate. However,when I tried the JS code below, the pop up window kept asking for a user to enter the "Seller" name.I combined both together as:
if (document.frmSelect.sellers.disabled=false && document.frmSelect.sellers.selectedIndex=="" html code
I just started using the grate validate plugin today and I can't really find an example of what I'm trying to customize...
Basically, I think it's confusing for a select element to change on focus instead of on change, meaning: the user forgets to select an option, the drop down is highlighted with some CSS, so use selects an option, but CSS error styling doesn't go away until the user clicks somewhere else on the page... A minor gripe, but I'm a big believer of the Steve Krug "don't make me think" school ;)
I'm still not quite clearly on how to implement own customizations of this plugin even after going through the docs...
