User Information Validation Page Is Not Working And Its Giving That ResponseXML Object Is Null?
Dec 29, 2010
Im developing a JSP site... my user information validation page is not working and its giving that responseXML object is null...Im not using any XML file to fill the data here.... all the messages custom messages are loaded from the JSP page....My Valildation.js file as below.....
// holds an instance of XMLHttpRequest
var xmlHttp = createXmlHttpRequestObject();
// holds the remote server address[code].....
I tried POSTing from XMLHttpRequest, i can get the XML right on server but responseXML from server is coming null. I can see the XML right in responseText. but responseXML is null. responseText to DOM conversion also fails while the XML in responseText seems valid ..
I have a HTML form containing two text box controls in it and a submit button. When a user enters information in those two textboxes and click on submit, the information is sent to a function in Javascript. In the javascript, the information from those textboxes is stored in a javascript variable. The problem is as follows:When I am inputting string text in the html text boxes and in the javascript when I am trying to print those values, it is giving me out an error saying NaN. However when i input integer values in the text boxes it is printing those numbers. Is there a conversion that I have to do for the string to be printed. I am new to Javascript and need your help. This is a basic code of Javascript. Below is the code that I have.
<html> <script type = "text/javascript"> function square(form)
I have tried debugging using the alert function and have come to the conclusion that the responseXML property keeps returning null even though I have set everything correctly.
I'm not getting any response for the following ajax request. I'm getting the following error when i try to run request_get_xml.html im mozilla firefox:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: moz-nullprincipal:{d4e6a0fb-93c0-4ef4-82cf-7ccbd5c1e02e} Line Number 4, Column 2:
-<CATALOG> request_get_xml.html <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc()[code].....
I did find the javascript twice in my code, once in the header and once here, so i removed it from the header. I also changed to src to the full url. But i am still getting this and i dont know why. the file is located in the root directory. found a solution. basically Internet Explorer is crappy and doesnt like the setAttribute property so had to change the onchange handler by directly changing the attrbute for the object like so.object.onchange = function() {}i have no idea what they means, does that mean i need to change swfobject.js or does that mean i have to change my xml request. and if it is the swfobject i have no clue what they mean or what lines
I have given a snippet of code where I am deleting rows which having index more than 11. Its working fine even it in IE(means at least giving result). But it giving error in error console of Mozilla & "Error on Page in IE".
<code> if(single_record != ''){ var record_data = single_record.split("#*#");var no_of_rows1 = document.getElementById(table_id).rows.length; var x = document.getElementById(table_id).insertRow(0); x.style.backgroundColor = tr_Color;// TR bgcolor is set var no_of_rows = document.getElementById(table_id).rows.length;// To find total no. of rows
var g0=x.insertCell(0); g0.align = "center"; var g1= x.insertCell(1);g1.align = "center"; var g2=x.insertCell(2);g2.align = "center"; var g3=x.insertCell(3);g3.align = "center"; g0.innerHTML = '<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1" color = "#000000" >'+record_data[0]+'</font>'; g1.innerHTML= '<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1" color = "#000000" >'+record_data[1]+'</font>'; g2.innerHTML= '<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1" color = "#000000" >'+record_data[2]+'</font>'; g3.innerHTML='<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1" color = "#000000" >'+record_data[3]+'</font>'; if(no_of_rows > 11){ for(var m = 10;m<no_of_rows;m++){ document.getElementById(table_id).deleteRow(m);// HERE MIGHT B THE ERROR }}} </code>
I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.
Code:
function secureBarSubmit(formId) { alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId)); // object always alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId).onsubmit); // func first time then it is broken
I would like to put a welcome message on one of my sites... something like "welcome username!" with the username being the login name that that person used to login to their computers.
Is it possible to gather this information using client-side js? if not, how can i accomplish this without having each person enter their name upon entering the page?
I am having some trouble with creating cookies and getting them to work for an onclick event. What I am trying to do is create a button to store cookies containing all user information with an alert message and set the expiration date one day after the visit. (This is just a project I am working on to help me understand how to create cookies.)Below is the cookies code I came up with but it doesn't seem to be functioning at all.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
My code is in the attachment alex.txt.When i press the button for first time it gives me error: 'null' is null or not an object. But when i press it again or refresh the page and press the button it gives me the result that i expect.When i change the var pdbfile1,2,3 values(for example with 2x4n;3gis;1crn) and press the button again there is the error again and i have to refresh the page again.
I'm creating an AJAX user validation so that when a user types in a username, it checks it in the database to see if it exists. I want it to execute after the user finishes typing. I've tried using: $("#username_field").keyup(function(){ which works, but I don't want a query executed every time the users presses a key. I was wondering if there was a better way to do it. Meaning I what the check to be preformed after the user finishes typing.
I'm new to jQuery/JavaScript and I wondering if this is because it can only see classes/id that are set on page load. I'm using the code below to give elements on my page individual id's. $(".text").each(function(count){ var new_id = "txt_" + count; $(this).attr("id", new_id); }); But when I try and call this id later in the code, it doesn't work.
I am trying to write a small javascript program where I can call the following two functions and store information which a user enters. The problem is if I call the function a second time to add more information the array gets overwritten.[code]...
I am putting some validation on some forms at work. The users have asked to put something in place to make sure that if you enter something in on field that you must enter something in the corresponding field.
Example : Lets say there is a Company field and a Position field. Well they would like that if you enter a Company you should enter a Position and the other way where if you enter a Position you just enter a Company.
Ok so thats easy enough I did something like the following.
if((form.Company1.value=="") && !(form.Position1.value=="")){ alert("Enter a Company into the Company field for row 1 or enter N/A"); form.Company1.focus(); return false; }
Well now they want a message box to give the user the option it ignore that they have a blank field, and more or less want a hey just to let you know, you didnt put anything here
In a page , i need to give multiple xmlhttp request in a single page sequencely, In case of IE browser it working fine, But incase of Netscape browser, first xmlhttp request is going and im getting the response for that request, and im sending the second request but it is not going.
I have a site that is supposed to be 'real-time' which has a frameset of 2 rows (the bottom row is 1 pixel so essentially invisible to IE users which is the requirement for the product). The bottom frame refreshes using an http-refresh every 15 seconds. If new data is available on the server, it tells the top page to refresh. For checks and balances, the top frame has a form at the bottom of the page with a 'clockBox'..which is essentially a text box that gets updated every second so it looks like a timer. When the bottom frame refreshes, it waits 5 seconds then resets the top counter to 0. The top counter continues to count. If the top counter gets to 30 (which it never should unless the bottom frame gets stuck), it refreshes the bottom frame. Code:
this following code is having some problem in checkbox.length or checkbox.checked. this problem exists only in IE browser, in mozilla its working fine....... i have to delete a row on click on checkbox...
var v_checkbox = document.form3.check; var nb_checked = 0; var tbl = document.getElementById(id);[code]....
