Browsers these days ... or is it just me? If you have a <SELECT> field with the multiple attribute can you only get multiple selections by holding down CTRL?
I found a "workaround" JavaScript but it's very buggy. Before I even look into the subject of creating my own one, has anyone dealt with this before?
I am trying to make a form where the user is only able to select an option from one of the drop down menus and if they click both then submit an error should pop up telling them to select just one. Now I have found this code:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"'> <!-- function validateForm(){[code]....
the first problem is that my menu must be named "id[2]2" which causes a problem due to the bracketed 2 and the 2 after. Is there any way around that?the second problem I forsee is that this will only work with 1 drop down box being unselected. I need a code that will give the warning if nothing is selected OR if something is selected in both drop downs.
I have a project where I need a selection of one dropdown menu may affect the select of multiple other dropdown menus on the same page.First, a table is generated, and within each row, it contains a dropdown menu. Assume: Rows A, B, C, etc..., and Dropdown selection: 1, 2, & 3If dropdown in Row A selects 2, then I want the selection of dropdowns in rows B & C to dynamically change to 2.And if in Row C user selects 3, then the selection in dropdowns in rows A & B should dynamically change to 3.
[URL] If you visit that page, it has 2 drop down menus embedded in each other. One is under the name "destination weddings" and within that, there is one named "Historic Wessex Packages". It runs on a JS script (which I am currently modifying) called slide.js. The problem is that if you go to one of the other pages (like Contact Us) then slide down the destination one, then the historic one, it doesn't cope with the dynamically changing height and fails.
I'm trying to set up what will efectively be a series of vertical submenus based on pre-existing buttons which each one activated by a mouseOver command. Does anyone one know where I can find a good script for that?
ok i don't know where to start my search cause i don't have to right terms.what i would like to do is have to menus and have the second be changed dynamically. ex:in the first dropdown if the user selects a category, the subcategory will populate with sub categories of that category.
I have site which I have been maintaining. The initial drop down menu under teh main menu "profile" appears correctly, the fonts are white. So based on the I created another submenu under "services". Everything is fine except that the font colour on the dropdown menu is not white like the first case.
I recently created a website with a spry dropdown navigation bar. On preview from Dreamweaver CS4, in Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome, all elements work properly and the dropdown menus work as well. However, when I upload it to my server at the domain URl..., the dropdown menus do not show up on rollover. I don't know what is going on. The .js file and .css file are both appropriately linked to the root folders as well. The dropdowns are supposed to be displayed under 'online resources' and 'citing your work'
Is there such a thing as a dropdown menu that works in all browsers? (or at least all the commonly used ones)... Is JavaScript a good way to go? and if yes, are there any precoded templates available that are fairly straightforward to integrate and adapt for dropdowns?
i am building a website form which I would like the user to select a product of interest. Some products are three tiered and some are two tiered.
1. Example of three tier (3 dropdowns required only):Scooters (dropdown 1)Three Wheel Scooters (dropdown 2) Delux 503S Bird Scooter (dropdown 3)
2. Example of two tier (2 dropdowns required only):Standing Bikes (dropdown 1)Children 300 Series (dropdown 2)
If the user wants to submit their interest for one of the products, I need to have at most 3 dropdown menus. So in Example 1, I would have 3 dropdowns in my form. Dropdown 1: Scooters Dropdown 2: Three Wheel Scooters Dropdown 3: Delux 503S Bird Scooter. In Example 2, I would only need to use the first 2 dropdown menus. (Obviously the first dropdown would contain 'Scooters' and 'Standing Bikes' in the menu list)I would like to alter the code so that the second and third dropdowns are hidden until a selection from the first drop down is made. Once for example, 'Standing Bikes' is selected from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown menu appears and the third remains hidden due to the fact that it is not required. If I selected Scooters from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown would appear listing all items associated with this and at this point the third dropdown menu is hidden. If i select 'Three Wheel Scooter' from the second dropdown the third dropdown menu now appears listing all Three wheel Scooters such as 'Delux 503S Bird Scooter'.
I have been working on a dropdown menu using Clarklab's Tutorial:The only problem is that this tutorial only shows how to create one dropdown instance. It's in use here:My issue is that when I click on one menu item, all the submenus open up. Is there a simple fix that I just haven't figured out yet?My instinct is to give each ul it's own id, but I'm not sure how to direct the jquery in the header to work with individual elements.
I just needed a simple dropdown. So what better solution than jquery right? Well, when I finished it, I tested it out and it works until you try to click a link in the dropdown. It then disappears. Not sure if theres something overlaying throwing it off but I didn't see anything in firebug.

I have code for autosuggestion while typing in a text box written in Javascript and PHP. When I start typing a number I get a list of matching numbers and I'm able to select one of them with the mouse click. Now I have an other text box which should display a list of numbers based on the selection from the first textbox.
On selecting abc(a) in first dropdown the 'a' must get selected in second dropdown,on selecting cde(b) second dropdown must have 'b' and so on,also the second dropdown value should be disabled(grayed out) for user.Need the code in javascript.
I have 4 strands of hair left... I have been fighting with this one for almost a week now. I'm trying to pass the value of this dropdown to a function and enable another dropdown(and in the future create the populated dropdown based on this choice). If the original 'Select...' option is chosen it will then hide that second dropdown. In the following code the function actually resides in a js file which has been imported and is working properly. I have tried this as text and as value and both seem to be passing a null value regardless of the option selected.
I have two drop-down prompt controls with month names. One has just one value (say "July") and the other has all the months of the year ("January".."December"). The first prompt control is hidden on the page. How do I set the default selection of the second prompt control to the value present in the first prompt control? So, when the page is run, the second prompt control should automatically show "July".
I was reading up on the selectedIndex property (?), but I know that it won't work because I want Index 0 to be selected in the first control and Index 6 in the second, and I expect it to change every month (next month it will be index 7 that should be automatically selected).
Ive searched this forum for a simple solution to this. I want have a drop down of countries. Only if USA is selected, it shows states, otherwise it is hidden. I have a function which is 'trying' to write the state dropdown to an empty span.
I'm trying my hand at developing a new website for my professional career, and am trying to implement a simple Rollover > Pop-out Menu system, and am finding the javascript confusing to do. I am using Photoshop and Dreamweaver/Fireworks, and have all of my normal and over button graphics finished, and created one simple pop-out in Fireworks.
My problem is getting both the swap image in javascript onMouseOver event, and the menu event to run at the same time. How is this usually done? Can you add two functions to one java event?
I have a little problem with drop down menus. I have a PHP page in which I extract some categories (from a database). I put those categories in a drop down menu without problems. I would like that when a category is chosen, the entire page should be reloaded without the pression of any "submit" button, and should appear a new drop down menu. The main problem is the reloading of the page as it appears not to work if, after OPTION VALUE, I put the name of the same page in which there is the forum (entrate_in.php). Infact it say "page not found" while it works perfectly if I put the name of a different php page... how to resolve this problem? Code:
I'm trying to make two drop down lists. The first will be a list of regions, such as USA and Canada. The second will contain cities within those regions, such as Washington or Ottawa. The second's content will be conditional upon the user's selection of the region. I have this so far: Code:
I am trying to use an SSinclude to insert my menu information (not the .js file) in the head section. Again, this is so I don't have to update every page.
However I get an error at the body tag, where I need to do OnLoad="init()"
If I copy and paste the contents of the include into the html it works fine. Theoretically, this is all that the SSI is doing and so it should work.
I have the following code. When the user clicks on one of the links (Bookies Quick Search, Bingo Quick Search or Casino Quick Search), the submenus will appear underneath. This code works fine, however the only problem im having with this is that i cannot seem to get rid of the break inbetween each one. Code:
If you look on this page, on the right hand side if you click on 'Share with Friends!' or 'Report this App', you'll notice the sliding effect I'm after. Now I'm no guru when it comes to JavaScript so trying to look through the source just baffles me.
Does anyone know of a tutorial or script I can take a look at to try and figure it out? A pretty barebone version would be nice.
