Tilting DIVs
Mar 28, 2007
I was wondering if javascript can be used to "tilt" DIVs. That is, a traditional square can be rotated several degrees to give the appearance of being tilted, or in an extreme case, be tilted 90 degrees to give the appearance of a diamond.

I am using javascript to switch between a series of divs, on clicking a navigation tab the divs display property is set to 'block' and all other divs have their display property set to 'none'. That works fine, the problem I have is when I redirect to another page (e.g. a PHP script) on return to the index the divs have reset and only the default div is shown, rather than the div that was showing when the user left the page. The solution, as I see it, is two stages: Write a function to display the relevant div based on the variable passed to it, then work out how to pass this variable around various pages (post/get). I am very inexperienced with javascript and it drives me mad that the script literally does nothing rather than throwing up an error (as in PHP) but this is what I have so far in terms of a function:

I'm looking for some javascript to work with wordpress (jQuery preferrably) that will show/hide multiple divs on one click.
I had one working but it was kinda janky because it was causing me to have two divs with the same ID on one page. No good.
Since I updated to wp2.8.3 prior to launch, it's not working. So I've decided to just try and do it right.
Here's a page: [URL]
So, what I want to happen: On page load, the first tab: "general" and it's corresponding div beneath should be showing. And the first image should be showing. The other content divs and images should be hidden. I've given the text content divs a dashed border to show their borders. When a visitor clicks "dine at home" the general div and image hide, the second content div shows, as does the second image (it's currently the identical image, but the client may change later.) Etc.
I'll be using this function on a few other pages as well.
how to adjust this javascript to work on two different IDs at once?
current code:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
$(function () {
var tabContainers = $('div.imgswap > div');
[Code]....

I have a page, which looks a bit like this:
....
<body>
<div ID=id1>................</DIV>
<div ID=gsd>................</DIV>
<div ID=ewd>................</DIV>
<div ID=fac>................</DIV>
<div ID=act>................</DIV>
</body>
I would like id1 to be visible at all times, but the other ids only to be
visible one if the time, using something like
<A HREF="#esf" onclick="showdiv('act')">
What would be the best way of doing this?

If I have a form as below:
<form name="Show" style="position:absolute;top:200;left:450;background-
color: yellow">
Mouse location.<br>
X: <input type="text" name="MouseX" value="0" size="4"><br>
</form>
Then accessing the value of the text box is simple:
alert(document.Show.MouseX.value)
But what if I use a div instead, how can I get at the same value?
<div id="Show" style="position:absolute;top:200;left:450;background-
color: yellow">
Mouse location.<br>
X: <input type="text" name="MouseX" value="0" size="4"><br>

I have a basic website which has a menu at the side. When the user clicks on a link in the menu I want a different div to display.
I thought I'd cracked this using
javascript:
function showHideItems(myItem){
document.getElementById(myItem).style.display = "block";
switch (myItem){
case "first":
[Code]....
The code still switches between the first 2 divs, hiding whichever one is not in use, but the third div is just placed next to whichever other one is shown. It does not hide the other divs and is not hidden by them either.

I want to move a div around a page, and I do this by getting the original top and left values of a div, and then change them. But the problem is getting the original values; I checked online and thought that this would work:
var chart = document.getElementById(charDiv).style.top;
var charl = document.getElementById(charDiv).style.left;
alert('char_t:' + chart + ' char_l:' + charl + 'charDiv:' + charDiv);
charDiv is passed into the function (its the id of the div I want to move). I know that charDiv has a value by looking at the values of the alert() statement, but the values of chart and charl are empty. The alert simply outputs char_t: char_l: charDiv: charOne

I have this simple checkbox menu [URL]
If you check the cancer box a div will appear. If you check lung, another menu pops up. If you check colon nothing appears because it's behind the lung div. I am aware of z-index. But because a person may go back and forth between menus I need a way to make sure the appropriate div is always on top.

i would like to toggle between 12 separate divs (each of which contains a table that corresponds to a monthly calendar, if that helps you to visualize what i'm doing) when the corresponding link name is clicked. i've got it so that when the link is clicked, the div toggles between on and off states, but what i really want to do is replace the currently visible div with the new one. the code i've got to this point follows:
//the javascript:
function showCal(monthName) {
if($(monthName).className != "show"){
$(monthName).className = "show";
}else{
$(monthName).className = "hide";
}}
//the css:
.hide {display:none;}
.show {display:block;}
//the HTML:
<a href="javascript:showCal('january')" target="_self">jan</a>
any ideas?? whatever help you can offer would be so greatly appreciated. i just need a point in the right direction.

Toggling divs is a popular subject and I have found plenty of information and was able to make it work. There is only 1 thing I am still stuck with for quite some time.
I have a dropdown menu and when I select a date from this menu it displays another select box with times for that day. When I select another date another dropdown is shown with times. The problem is now that my page shows two dropdown menus with times.
The dropdown with dates has several dates, so the dropdowns with times that show increases all the time. The question is how do I hide 1 time dropdown div as I select another one? Code:

I have 5 divs on a page all with the class of "cases". I want all these divs to fadein one second after the previous one loaded. To accomplish this I tried the following;
$('div.cases').each(function()
{
$(this).hide().delay(1000).fadeIn(1850);
}[code]...
So I want; first div fades in on .ready()
- one second wait -
the second one fades in
- one second wait -
the third one fades in etc. etc. etc.Currently all the divs load at the same time.

I have a bunch of thumb nails that will be at full opacity when a user gets to the page. Users will be able to select their favorite. What I want to have happen is when a user selects their first favorite all of the there thumbnails will be lowered in opacity then when they select other favorites the opacity of that thumbnail will be brought to full. Each thumbnail is in a div. I am at a complete lose on how I can achieve this.

I have thmbnails of pictures on a page & i would like to open up the full picture (which is already present on the page, but I have used css to display:none on it) in a div (ie overview) when user hovers over the pictures so on the pictures I have done:
Code:
<a onmouseover="javascript:show('{$row['productid']}');" onmouseout="javascript:hide('{$row['productid']}');" href="viewProduct.html?id=" . $row['productid'] . ""> <img height="100px" width="100px"src="images/thmb/". $row['imageLocation']."" /> </a>";
[Code]...
I am trying to pass in an id because the full picture has that id which is guaranteed to be unique! and I dont know ahead of time the id..
or this cant be done with Jquery/
disclaimer: I have done this using JAVASCRIPT successfully but I am learning Jquery so i thought why not use that..
