I never have luck in toggling divs with javascript, to which I am new.
Not even with a single browser, let alone making it compatible with all

I have,essentially, anunlimited number of containers with dynamic ids and a dynamic menu to load each containers content. I have done this fine with static id's but do not know where to go to use dynamic.

I will have a page with about a 100 or so different links and I would like each one to toggle the visibility of its corresponding hidden div.For instance, if I have a county 'Johnson' when it's clicked I would like the hidden div associated with that county to become visible. I would like to do this without having to write a different function for each one. Is there a way to do this easily?
Below is a solution I was given elsewhere but I couldn't get it to work.Most ideal of all I would like it to work with an image map, with each county having it's own set of stats to be toggled in.

At the moment I have three images in a row and I want to be able to click on any one of the images and use jQuery to populate a hidden div below the three images that contains more info and slide it out using the fold animation. I'd also like it if when a second image was clicked it closed the currently open div and opened the new one. I've seen tutorials that open the divs but can't find one that closes them again on opening a new one.
Can anyone point me to a tutorial that does this or suggest how it could be done?
I am new to Jquery and was wondering how it is possible to open one DIV while closing all other DIVs ( or maybe just the open ones) all with the same CLASS. I know that the accordion does just that but I ran in some other issues there, because I was not able to use another DIV to trigger the accordion.
Right now I am Using the Toggle, which obviously toggles all DIVs with the class .info

On the homepage of my site, I would like to have some nav links that toggle between a few divs that are below in the content The divs in the content should display one at a time. For example, if you click nav1, the user would see div1. If nav2 is then clicked, div1 would hide and div2 would display.

There two problems. I want to replace the sliding effect. I want to make a table with the divs in it. And when a div is deactivated the text or image shows grey and the link is disabled and when activated the text/image shows black/color and the link is enabled. So when you uncheck/check the boxes the divs will toggle between the two styles clickable and unclickable. I also want to make a second checkbox/radio row with different css styles to choose from. When a style is selected and you click on a link in div it will send you to the page with the selected style.

I'm pretty new to JavaScript and I've been searching for a way to toggle the visibility of many divs with images inside. Basically I want to have nothing visible, then I have three links that represent three categories of the images. So for example if the user clicks the link "Illustration" I want all the divs with the class illustration to appear. But when the user chooses a new link say, "typography" I want to hide the divs with class illustration and then show the divs with class typography.

In the case of both the parents and their children, when a parent is toggled open I want the other parents to toggle closed . The same applies to the children of each parent. I am attempting to create a floating draggable div, something very similar to all those rather annoying banner ads that have started to appear all over the net (dont ask it just has to be done) This code :
works perfectly (ish) in IE 6.0.2, but I have two and a half problems problems :
Problem 1
It renders correctly in Netscape 7.1 and Firefox 0.9.1 but I cannot get the click-drag-drop effect to work in these browsers.
Problem 2
A "move" cursor is displayed when the user mouseovers the title bar, if they click and drag you get a nasty flashing cursor effect as it transitions between a "move" and "pointer" icon. Can't say if this also happens in other browsers due to problem 1.
Problem Half
How can I position this popup div so that it renders itself in the middle of the browser window? I spent some time looking at CSS positioning on w3c but didnt really find anything.
Can anybody point towards how I can solves these 2.5 problems?
While I am here, I had to "imaginer" a way of acheiving a cross browser compatible gradient effect for the boxes title bar. Basically I set a background image and tiled it. This is becuase there doesnt seem to be a Mozilla etc version of IE's "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient...". Does anybody know if there is a better way of doing this?
EDIT :
After some research/fiddling with Problem 1 it seems that the onmousedown event is not captured therefore the mousedown/move/up methods are not executed. This leads me to believe that the problem is rooted in this line :
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN|Event.MOUSEMOVE|Event.MOUSEUP)
But as yet I havent found out what that problem is
Trying to learn the basics... Here is a script for three toggle buttons that each when clicked open their corresponding divs. Fine. Now how does one go about automatically closing an open div when clicking on a new 'toggler' that opens it's div? I see other posts about this very question, but I'm just not grasping the logic.

here is my scenario:
I have a link and a div on a webpage. With the link I want to toggle the content (HTML) of the div. On toggle, I want to load the content from a PHP-file and I want it to load on the toggle, not when the webpage originally loaded (to reduce loading time on the webpage itself).
The file that is loaded on toggle doesn't have to be PHP, but it would help a lot.
I use a small piece of JS code to make different elements on the page show/hide when clicking a link, based on id:

This works. Initially the element is hidden (with style="display:none" property of the element), and the script gets its id and changes its display property to "block" when clicking on a link.
But when Javascript in a browser is turned off, the elements to show are all hidden, and there's no way to see the content of the element.
My question: is there a way to hide toggled elements on page load with JS, so that when it's turned off the hidden content is shown?
I am using javascript to switch between a series of divs, on clicking a navigation tab the divs display property is set to 'block' and all other divs have their display property set to 'none'. That works fine, the problem I have is when I redirect to another page (e.g. a PHP script) on return to the index the divs have reset and only the default div is shown, rather than the div that was showing when the user left the page. The solution, as I see it, is two stages: Write a function to display the relevant div based on the variable passed to it, then work out how to pass this variable around various pages (post/get). I am very inexperienced with javascript and it drives me mad that the script literally does nothing rather than throwing up an error (as in PHP) but this is what I have so far in terms of a function:

I'm looking for some javascript to work with wordpress (jQuery preferrably) that will show/hide multiple divs on one click.
I had one working but it was kinda janky because it was causing me to have two divs with the same ID on one page. No good.
Since I updated to wp2.8.3 prior to launch, it's not working. So I've decided to just try and do it right.

So, what I want to happen: On page load, the first tab: "general" and it's corresponding div beneath should be showing. And the first image should be showing. The other content divs and images should be hidden. I've given the text content divs a dashed border to show their borders. When a visitor clicks "dine at home" the general div and image hide, the second content div shows, as does the second image (it's currently the identical image, but the client may change later.) Etc.
I'll be using this function on a few other pages as well.

I have two series of radio buttons...(call them Group A and Group B)
and a Textarea.
When you click on any of the radio buttons in the A group, it
automatically adds some text to the textarea, using a javascript
onClick function.
When you click on any of the radio buttons in the B group, it appends
another line of text to the existing text already in the textarea,
again, using a javascript onClick function
What I need is to make the group B onClick act like a toggle, so if
the associated text isn't there, it will add it... but if it IS
