Jul 21, 2011
I am trying to test out a basic xhtml form using radio buttons and text boxes. I want a user to select one of the radio buttons and have the focus change to the relevant text box where they can enter in the title of their choice.

When it one better than the other? I need customers to choose a media type for a catalogue, booklet or CD/DVD. I would rather have the customer choose what they wish rather than force an initial choice. I have been toying with radio buttons but trying to validate them and keep them off initially is quite difficult. Would I be better off using check boxes instead? If so, how do we determine which check box has been selected?

I see in a book how to use javascript functions from radio buttons to display text into a form textbox, but what I want to do is instead of display text into a textbox, to display images positioned by CSS. My code is below. All I get is the initial display of radio buttons, the chosen one chosen, and that's it. No display of images. I tried even just using text and no. Here's my code:

Is there a good library available (jQuery or stand-alone) that allows you to customize the troublesome form elements that aren't very receptive to CSS across browsers?
I was looking to try to match drop downs, radio buttons and check boxes with the same look and feel as everything else.

I'm trying to create a questionnaire style series of radio buttons which are hidden and then a different set of radio buttons displayed depending on the previous answer. eg
Q1 Is it a man? (if select yes then display)
Q2 Is he called John? (if no then display)
Q3 Is he called Gary? and so on...
I've been testing using the code below but wondered if anyone had any ideas on how this could be done easily?

how to reset both my text boxes when I click a different radio button so that I can give another value in the textbox area. I am trying to do it without a reset button. I am just confused with the process of resetting the values of both the text boxes in the code. I feel like the answer is to put it inline in the <input> tag...
<body>
<div id="content">
<h1>Convert temperature</h1>
<input type="radio" name="conversion_type" id="to_celcius" onclick="document.getElementById('degrees_celcius').disabled=this.checked;"

I'm trying to get a radio button validation for different sets of radio buttons that simply contains Yes & No buttons.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
Question 1: if Yes, then (Alert 1) if No, then (Alert 2) (if Yes, then Question 2 appears) *Up to here I'm happy- can't figure out the rest*
Question 2: if Yes, then (Alert 1) if No, then (Alert 2) (if Yes, then Question 3 appears)
I need the Alerts to be swapped from this point*
Question 3: if Yes, then (Alert 2) if No, then (Alert 1) (if NO, then Question 4 appears)
Identical for Question 5, and for Last Question 6 Alerts swapped back again.)
Here's the script that I managed to piece together:

I am building an online store where the customer can select custom parts. I'm quite new to javascript, but I've managed to create a radio button list, where the price is added from each section. I would like a box to show all of the options selected, not just the sum total.
I've included the text with value and used parseInt. I have been told I can use value.split(" "), but I don't really know how to go about doing that. I've been fiddling for hours now and don't seem to be able to get anywhere.
I would also like to include a 3rd value, another number, and add that one in a separate calculation.
E.g. For "50 5850ati1gb 56" I would like one calculation which adds 50 to the total, another calculation adding 56 to a different total and 5850ati1gb added to a list of all of the components.

when the user types a FIRST NAME into the first name textbox this should update the paxname with the value and a space.when the user types a LAST NAME into the last name textbox this should update the paxname with the value therefore at the end of the process the paxname will have the full name of the person in order with spaces in between. also i would like the first name and last name values to be changed to proper case ie John Smith once placed into paxname the update process does not have to be instantaneous, it can perhaps update the paxname textbox when the focus is gone from the field in question, dont mind how it works as long as it updates.

I have a php-based form with radio-buttons with following labels - I've been trying to get the text-value of these labels, but I keep getting empty variables - it seems it doesn't pick up the value at all.
Here's some of the code:
<li><span class="radioinput"><input class="crirHiddenJS" id="this_pulje_
<?php echo $pulje['pv_ID']; ?>" type="radio" name="
<?php echo $pulje['p_subname']; ?>" value="
<?php echo $pulje['pv_ID']; ?>"></span><label for="this_pulje_
<?php echo $pulje['pv_ID']; ?>"><strong>
<?php echo $gametype; ?>, M: </strong>
<?php echo $pulje['pv_module']." <strong>S: </strong>".$pulje['pv_system']."
<strong>GM: </strong>".$pulje['pv_GM']; ?></label></li>
Which outputs something like this:
<li><span class="radioinput">
<input type="radio" value="47" name="pulje_2" id="this_pulje_47" class="crirHidden">
</span><label for="this_pulje_47" class="radio_unchecked">
<strong>R, M: </strong>Bergen 2192 <strong>S: </strong>Blue Planet v2
<strong>GM: </strong>Thor André Karstensen</label></li>
And then I have the following jQuerycode, which doesn't return anything:
var radioContent = $("#"+prevTarget+" :radio:checked").next('label').text();
As for the "prevTarget" it's being populated, because if I change the above to this:
var radioContent = $("#"+prevTarget+" :radio:checked").val();
It returns the value just fine. But for some reason it doesn't return the text from the label - and I don't really understand why. Test-page found here: [URL]

On the page, a person will select an item on a drop down menu, and this automatically updates two spans of text.In one span of text, I've included simple text inputs. I'd like to use Radio Buttons, but the script doesn't seem to operate unless its a text input.I've included the parts of the script that will effect the other span of text, but I don't see how that would be important to you, so I've left those portions in a faint-ish grey.Here is the script...
<script type="text/javascript">
function UpdateHistoryText(sel)

I have 3 radio buttons with the same name ("myradio"). The value of each is a different URL (e.g. value="[URL]"). I have a link underneath these (<a href="#">Send</a>). I would like the selected radio button's value to be inserted into the href of the link, and if the user selects a different radio button that this changes. Is there any way of doing this using Jquery?

I am creating a form for a registration that asks the participant if they have completed pre-requisite training. There are three questions they are asked. When they click yes, the text box for the requested information is enabled, when they click no, they get a warning that they need to register first.
Here is the javascript
The first one works fine (the SERE training question), however, the second one does not function at all. What am I missing to enable the second question to function like the first.

I have a form which has two radio buttons at the beginning which show and hide fields depending on what button is clicked:
I want to adapt this js and html code so that when the page loads it checks whether one of the two radio buttons is clicked and depending on that it displays/hides the divs which are declared in the current function, at the moment it performs this when the user clicks one of the radio buttons but I want to perform it when the page is loaded and also when the user first enters the page I want the yes radio button to be selected and obviously show/hide

My first day with jquery, and I've just been playing around a little but have run in to a problem in Firefox.
I've set up a basic form with a name and a button (not submit) and one text field.
All it does right now is open an alert box when the button is clicked. That's fair enough. However, in Firefox, if I have the text field selected and hit enter, it doesn't press the button.
How would I go about making sure the enter key presses the button? I'd like to avoid using onclick and a method in the form if possible. My aim eventually is to post data and return it without a page refresh instead of create an alert box.

Here is the link to a page on my work web: -
[URL]
You will see that I have three combo box objects on this form - one containing dates (Date) and the other two containing times (Time1 & Time2). Each time on each date is an available appointment.
I would like the content of the date combos to be read from a file whenever the page is opened - a text file with one record per row would be fine (by way of an example - but this may be insufficient). On the face of it this would seem fairly rudimentary but I don't code in JavaScript of PHP and, having found this site I can make a start. I used to be a VB coder.
On each date the following appointment times are available: -
10:00
11:00
12:00
14:00
15:00
This assumes that no appointments on a given day are taken.This leads me to conclude that each date should have records for each time - possibly as a CSV text file as follows: -
"29th May 2009","10:00"
"29th May 2009","11:00"
"29th May 2009","12:00"
[code]...
The second time combo should make unavailable the time selected in the first time combo and present only those times available on the chosen date in the CSV file on the server.When I confirm appointments, at present I have to edit the page objects and update the web - which is quite messy and slow whereas uploading a simple text file, whilst an imperfect solution, is much better than what I currently have.
I believe that a PHP or Javascript routine based on events on the three objects would remove the inherent problems and would provide a useful set of building blocks for other routines of a similar nature.The routine would trigger whenever the page is loaded (or refreshed) or the content of any one of the three objects gets or loses the focus or a selection is made in an object.
The Date Combo would need to look up the available dates - keeping the currently selected date selected or, if that date is no longer available defaulting to the first date in the list. The user then makes a selection or makes no change to the selected date.The Time1 Combo then reads the available times for that date, retains the currently selected time (if available) or the first available time (if the selected is not available) and the user makes a selection or accepts the current selection.The Time2 Combo does the same as the Time1 Combo and in addition it eliminates the time selected in the Time1 Combo from the available choices.
The result is that visitors are only offered available times on available dates (insofar as this solution provides).When the form is submitted I would receive the email and confirm the appointment with the client and, in addition, I would modify and upload the modified data file to the web server using Filezilla. The benefit is that there is a slim to none chance of two people wanting to book the same times on the same date at exactly the same time (though it is possible). In addition, I can add new dates and add new times if there is a demand and I can even add previously deleted times if there is sufficient demand to warrant bringing in a second consultant to take the meetings.

I have a html form that uses javascript for validation, this is an assignment that consists of a form that sells hard drives from three different manufacturers, more specifically the part im stuck on is where if a manufacturer hoes have a number in the number of drives textbox, javascript needs to check to see that one of the radio buttons in that row is checked, if no radio button is checked
an alert is displayed, however when I do select a radio button I still get the alert I used a "if...else if...else" construction but my logic is not well structured and thereby I get those problems, I have included the code down below if anyone is interested in helping a newbie out code...

I'm trying to get my form to show and hide various divs with radio buttons. There are multiple options in the second box of my example. When a user selects the first option, more input boxes come up. Perfect, that's what I want. However, if they decide they didn't mean to click that option and instead wanted another option, the original part that popped up doesn't disappear. I cannot figure out how to make this happen.
