I am using Google maps and an xml file to create my maps.I read the xml file to get the info for the map but if my xml file has loads of records, it displays them all on the map.What I want to be able to do is select a specific record of the xml file.How would i select a record with a given id i choose?

What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?

I have an imagemap with a list of links to one side. The links highlight areas on the map by overlaying a PNG file, and the links need a "selected" state. The areas on the map need to be clickable too, and when these are clicked, the corresponding link item should get the "selected" state. I've got theselected state workingworking when the user clicks on the links, but can't get it working when they click on the map area.

I have a webserver setup in my home, with an index file that is an access
comtrol page, that, if the authentication is sucessfull, takes the user to a
specific directory. In this directory I only have image files in .jpg format.
I need to create a page were the user can either browse the entiry
directory, or specify a filename to search for, wildcards enabled, and
beiing able to see a reduced size image in the result page when hovering the
image/file result link. Any Ideas?

I am looking for a way to select a file from a list and load it into a webpage. The page and the files are stored on a sd-card for off-line usage, I know that listing files remote dynamicly needs a scripting engine but since the sd-card is on the client side that is not possible, but I can make a list of those files when creating them.
It is intended for a datalogger on a tractor-puller, I create csv files with a bash script on the logger and for off-line viewing I use a javascript charting engine which loads the csv file, the files have the creation date as filename and I can make (and maintain) a list of files when creating them. The plan is that the we can select another data set (run) from within the browser and show that one. I have setup an example at [URL]

I got it to work by GetElementsByTagName('div') but it then selects all divs rather then the select few i actually want it to work on. I tried changing the selection to GetElementsByName but this doesn't work, why i don't really know.

So i was wondering if there's a way of making the browser look to different css files depending on which browser and version it is. For example, css3 gradient backgrounds are supported in firefox 3.6 or something, but not in 3.0. All the hacks out there is to 3.*, so it changes for the allready working 3.6 too if i hack it. I want to controll it so that i have a specific css file for the none-supporting version and lower and one for the supporting and above. I looked at a bad browser plugin (because it has some of the basic features im looking for)

when the user adds records to the sql database by asp page, it is better to have some validation to check there is no same record is it good to do it by javascript? or other method? i wish to have a general idea how to do it.
