I want to check whether the flash is installed or not on client so i have a javascript function which does this , now i want the resultant variable from this function to return to perl variable in cgi file. i dont want to use form submit because i dont need it. i simply have to take decision for further coding depending on this variable returned from javascript. :cry:the way i m doing is,cgi file,
I have a webpage (Perl) that allows a user to select one of two buttons that represent :
<button id = "1" onclick="loadXMLDoc('mysqlinsert.pl')">Choose $name1</button> <button id = "2" onclick="loadXMLDoc('mysqlinsert.pl')">Choose $name2</button>
Based on the button they choose, I need to pass a variable (declared in Perl) to another Perl page that is responsible for updating/inserting in a MySql Database.
As you can probably tell, I'm new to this. But I'm not sure how the variable ($name1) can be used in Perl to the loadXMLDoc, and then get passed using the 'POST' technique to mysqlinsert.pl??
function loadXMLDoc(url) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
I have posted a question I believe that relates more to the PERL language, but it has to do with reading an external data only javascript extension file. [URL]
Looking to parse the XML file a perl script sends back.I wantto get values from specific tags in the XML file. Here is my code:
[Code]...
The code seems to be getting hung up on the dataType: "xml", line because when I comment it out, it goes to the next step and executes the function (although it doesn't do anything). how I can change this or just take a different approach? Let me know if I can provide more information.
I just want to know how can i pass the return value of a javascript function to a xsl variable.
I have an xsl file and from that file i will call a javascript function then the result will be stored in to the <xsl:variable> how will i do that? Or is it really possible to do that or is there other way of doing it?
Ok, so I've built a member search using ajax to change the results each time a filter is changed. It works great, except one minor issue that I'm struggling with...I just can't specify dynamically in the parent file that linkclass$id opens linkclasscontent$id as I don't know of any way to pass that $id variable back over to the parent.
I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:
word1 word2 word3 word4 word5
I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..
I start outside of the external JS file by: reviews.init(); reviews.initialiseContent('comment'); This loads my data and loads + sets the comment tab as default. My problem is that in the external JS file (shown below) the loadTabs variable will not allow me to pass it a variable: contentDiv.onclick = this.initialiseContent; Whenever I pass a variable here it errors, am I setting this up correctly, should I be using prototype for my this. variables? Interested to hear back on if this structure of code is the right way to go about this and also how I can pass a variable in this way :)

I am attempting to use the return value from a nested ajax function as the value for a variable in its parent. However, despite being able to successfully assign the variable within the nested function, it reverts back to its original value after the child function has terminated. Below is the code:
I'm using ajax to grab a response from a PHP page, on success, the ajax sets a variable. After the line that calls the ajax function is the line the returns the variable (a global variable). Problem is, because the variable is returned right after the ajax function is fired, it doesn't give the ajax enough time to set the variable. The work around I've thought about would be using the ajax function as a variable, and returning that variable in the initial return line.
Here's some code for reference:
The function that will return the response I'm trying to collect:
Im writing client-side javascript and I want to do a server side include. There are many server files but only one will be included. These files contain peoples names and phone numbers. This info is packaged as a line of javascript but I can change that packaging if necessary.
The file name to include is being passed as a url parameter: [url]
I know how to parse the url string and stuff the ID number into a javascript variable.
I set <ICODE> foo = "/people/12345.html" </ICODE> and tried <ICODE><!--#include virtual="${foo}" --> </ICODE> but this did not work.
Is there a way to do this with javascript given that the name of the file I wish to include is contained in a variable? If not, what is the usual way of getting the data in the server file into my client-side javascript?
So I'm currently working on a ASP.NET Webforms site and I've run in to a small problem. On my .cs file I have the following Webmethod
[WebMethod] public static string IsJobEditable(int jobid){ try{ string isEditable = "false"; JobsBLL jbl = new JobsBLL(); int jobStatusId = jbl.GetJobStatusId(jobid); //If the jobs is either waiting or being edited it is okay to edit it if(jobStatusId == Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Waiting) || jobStatusId == Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Edit)){ isEditable = "true"; }return isEditable; }catch (Exception ex){ throw ex; }}
This function in this case will ALWAYS return TRUE as a string. On Aspx page I have the following $(function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Coordination.aspx/IsJobEditable", data: "{jobid:" + jobid + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "text", success: function (result) { alert(result);
//This is written out in the alert {"d":"true"} I want this in a variable as a string so I can do a check on it before I do some other actions. The format is not a String so I cannot split on it to retrieve the "true" part. }, error: function (err, result) { alert(err); } });});
As you can see in the comments the value I get back in the Callback method is in to me a weird format. The type is unknown and I need this value to be able to proceed with my entire method surrounding the small portion of the Javascript. Where to access the result variable / data as a var or anything else that will let me put it into a var (as a string).
I need to return a string of JS from my php file. In my ajax.php file these are the last lines ($js is a string of js generated dynamically, it works as its calling a function I'm using at the load of the page): $js = getData($day,$the_vote);
I just need someone to tell me what the proper syntax is for calling a perl sub from another perl sub.. in trying to use onClick to call a sub in Htmlform() .. but its not working... the cgi works fine.. the mySql parts work fine.. more specificallyprint start_html(-title=>'Lab 6',-scrip=>{-language=>'PerlScript', src=>'mySqlProg.cgi'});i dont know if the above is the corect syntax in relation to thisprint "<button type='button' value='view' onclick='show_entries();'>Show Table Values</button>";
#!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; use CGI qw/:all/;
I have a problem with my perl program - it is not able to display the output of vowel count and word repetition count from a text file. The whole Perl program is supposed to read a paragraph of text and calculate followings based on the text:
1. number of empty spaces. 2. number of words in the text. 3. number of vowels in the text (a,e,i,o,u) 4. number of words with repetition in the text
Example output:- No. of empty spaces: XX No. of words : XX No. of vowels - a:: XX e: XX I: XX o: XX u: XX Words with repetition- Word 1 : XX Word 2 : XX ..... .... ..... ....
The Perl writes an application/x-javascript header followed by some js code (like document.write).
I can't use the hidden frame method suggested by Erwin Moller because the client page is an eBay ad, and they will not allow any frame code.
Now I want to pass to my Perl script an argument value which cannot be known until the page is loading (specifically, the page title, which is created by eBay and contains a unique id). I know how to get the page title with js, but there's no way (that I can figure out) to dynamically create the src argument of the <script> tag.
I've uploaded a new version of the javascript::Minifier module that was on CPAN. It was a translation of JSMin but I rewrote it so it now handles missing semicolons, + ++ code, and leaves those freaky IE conditional comments in the output. The goal was that if working code is input then working code is output where working == working. Breaking code that works is not such a good idea. Code:
I am asked to use JavaScript as part of an intro course on Perl in one of the projects.There are two html frames. The lower frame contains two user forms, one for a set of fields (name, email, comments etc), and the other that I am trying to add so that I can set a refresh rate for the upper frame.When I submit the frame rate as a number, say 5, the upper frame reloads but does not refresh at the rate I indicate.
To read a cookie: Code: <script language=javascript> <!-- var cook=document.cookie.split(";"); var pieces=cook[0].split("="); document.writeln("Your javascript cookie is called: " + pieces[0] + "<br>"); document.writeln("Its value is: " + pieces[1]);
I am making a call to a perl script using AJAX, this is basically updating a shopping cart item quantity, however; it only works about half the time.. Code:
function UpdateItem(Qty, ProdID, Size){ var XMLHttp; var ee; if(navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") { XMLHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } else { XMLHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } [Code]...
