View 3 RepliesI am in situation where I need a code to redirect a HTML page to new location (Static HTML/Dynamic Web page) however the challenge is that I can not use usual JavaScript Redirect code due to restriction that we can't execute any code/script under body tag.
I found that this can be done using an external JS file however I am not able to achieve this.
I need the code to be generic so we can apply the same JS file to any page. However, I want the new window to open over the previous one versus opening a second new window.
Is there a way to redirect your site to another site if the browser doesn't support HTML 5? So, if you where using an old version of IE or Firefox that didn't support HTML 5 it would redirect them to another page.

So if user knows any other html page's url then they can browse directly any of those page. But I've to prevent them & send to login page if they try to browse with out login. Very sad I can't do it

I was reading up on how to load and parse an XML file into an html page and I found through w3 a great tutorial with sample code: [URL]. It appears to work fine on their website but when I try it from my desktop it doesn't work. So what I have is an html file with contents:
<html><body>
<h1>W3Schools Internal Note</h1>
<div>
<b>To:</b> <span id="to"></span><br />
<b>From:</b> <span id="from"></span><br />
<b>Message:</b> <span id="message"></span>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
} else {
// code for IE6, IE5 .....
And then the xml file named "note.xml":
<note>
<to>Tove</to>
<from>Jani</from>
<heading>Reminder</heading>
<body>Don't forget me this weekend!</body>
</note>
For the record I have tried this in chrome and ie.
I need help getting variables in an external js file to transfer to the html page that uses them. I have an html page that lists verses to memorize, which, when the mouse hovers over a particular verse, a small popup reveals the book reference for that verse, thus giving a check to see if the user has accurately referenced that verse for its source.
I have an external js file (VERSES.js) that houses the verses and popup references sequentially as elements in an array and then writes them to the html document. A simplifed version of what I am using, with only a few verses listed here as an example, and that works beautifully, is given below: Code:
I need to be able to search through an xml located on my local machine with an html page. Here's the thing: this whole system (html files, xml file) will always be on my local machine. Because it's a class project it won't be on a server. So here's the scenario: I navigate to where my files are located (say C:) and I double click my index.html page and this page opens in my browser and from this page I need to be able to search my xml file which is at the same location. I've tried xmlhttprequest and it won't open the xml file I'm guessing because I don't need an http request.
Here's what I have so far:
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
} else {
xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
} xmlhttp.open("GET","C:MovieDB.xml",false);
xmlhttp.send(); xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML;
function searchDB() {
if(!xmlDoc){
alert("error")
} var keyword = $('#txtBox').val();
var searchVal = $('#basicCategory :selected').text();
var allitems = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("Movie");
for(var i=0;i<allitems.length;i++){
alert(allitems[i].getElementsByTagName(searchVal[0].
childNodes[0].nodeValue);
} }
The code doesn't make it past the xmlhttp.send() line.
I have some code that works great when used inline (inside of an html page). The inline code looks like this and has an onchange = "gotoTest(this);" as part of the select element
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$("select#RU").bind("change", gotoTest);

I have just bought a JS animated web template. I made changes to the file names on the splash page (index.html) and 2 landing pages www.keithmacstanton.com/dez Now everything is all messed up.

I have a page which can be found in google which is nice. But people can find a lot of sub-pages as well which is nice from a PR point of view. Nevertheless I don't want people to jump in the middle. I want them all to start on index.hmtl and nowhere else. So is it possible to have all visitors who click on a search result for example in google to be redirected to index.html ? Maybe referrer based redirect?
Goal 1: display errors above the form on same page
Goal 2: direct users to a new thankyou page when form is submitted.
The form uses ajax. I am able to get it to work with the error messages displaying correctly but as is, the thankyou message also displays in the same spot and the form is left filled out. I need it to direct to a new page I designed for the purpose.
I loaded page in div , usign jquery ajax
But the page which i loaded containg this code:
HTML Code:
To refresh all page index.php to redirect it to home.php
But the problem this, it's don't refresh all page which contain the div , but it's refreshed oly in the div wuch i loaded this code in it
So i want after i load this code in index.php div , then refres all page to redirect itto home.php
I want to redirect my page to the EXACT same page the user is viewing. Kinda like window.location.refresh(), but it refreshes the page, means it empties some part of the cache and will reload images. I want it to simply open the page again, exactly like when I click a link refering to the same url. I've tried reload(), but it doesn't reload either.
window.location.reload();
window.location.refresh();
window.location = '';
window.location.href = window.location.href;
I am trying to redirect the user to different URLs using HTML radio buttons and the Javascript getElementById, but it the value seems to only remain with the 1st item.
Here's my code.
I need to redirect a page to another url when it detects that the page is opened inside an iframe.
<script >
if(location.href != top.location.href){ window.location = 'http://myurl.com' }
</script>

I want to redirect a page to another page in JSP after a certain validation has been done using AJAX. If the validation is done it should redirect the user to another page but if validation is not done then it should remain on the same page.

Is not possibile to include Javascript code via <script src="..."

If not, how can I programmatically include a javascript external file

to some particular native functions?
I wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.
$("#load").load('gerenciar_itens.php',{/* This is where I wanna pass the file. */}, function(data){
alert(data);
});
I have a external file for example abc.js ,in this abc.js file no functions ,it contains some scripting,i want to call the scripting file though html I use the code
<script type="text/javascript src="abc.js"></script>
in the header file but i want it in a href tag
I have one html-file where the user inserts a search path for an excel file. When the user clicks the button the data in the excel file should be presented in a <TABLE>. (Yeah, I know, activex only works in IE .. but that's good enough for this project)
The problem is .. I started out with a "fixed" search path for the excel file, so I didn't have the code in a function. That worked just fine. Once I added the function {} around the code it wouldn't work, it works just fine if I comment out the form-part and the function-part, and give the search path, of course.
It also works just fine if I use the function and form, but remove the <TABLE>- and <TR>-rows
