Popup Window And Parent Is Deactivated / Disabled
Dec 22, 2009I have a popup which do some operations, parent window should do some operations too but after the popup finishes there r many ways to avoid that can check with database or session or .. etc but i guess if there is a way with JScript or Javascript to make the parent window disabled or deactivated ( as in alert:javascript u can do nothing with parent till u press OK )

Sep 1, 2009I have a hidden popup that I populate with content and it dynamically expands to the size of the content. I then show the popup. When a user clicks on another link, it populates the popup with longer or shorter content. When the content is SHORTER, it seems to show the background image that I'm using expanding to the height of the previous size of the popup. I've tried setting the height manually with JS, no luck. This only happens on IE6.

Aug 19, 2011I've copied and customized a script to display a css popup in my little website. The script should display a popup in the middle of the browser window, graying out the background, Everything seems to work fine except that at the end of the script, the page is displayed from the top. This means that if you click on the popup link from a position down in the page, you'll miss it because you will be taken to the top of the page, where you can't see it.

I've been debugging with alert boxes and everything seems to be fine until the script ends execution. Then the user is brought again at the top of the page...
In my final site the only thing I would like to show in the popup is a Flash movie.
Do you know any workaround? I would even implement a completely different solution if I knew which...
By the way: At this stage I am using Chrome but I would like my solution to work in any browser, that will the next issue.
Popup Window Where Main Window Is Maintained In Background?
Apr 8, 2011I have the code below in my popup window which currently brings up a blank page in the background as the main window. Instead I want the popup to come up but the original page I left is in the background as the main window. Does anyone know how I can do that with the code I currently have.

Keep Main Window In Background While Popup Window Comes Up?
Apr 11, 2011I have a popup window that comes up when a user doesn't have access to a certain page within my site. The problem is when a user clicks on something the popup window comes up but the bigger sized window of that popup comes up in the background as well. I am trying to have my popup window come up while the original page I clicked from is still focused/seen in the background. This is the code I currently am using, can anyone help me with what I am missing. I have a back button but I won't need that if I want to maintain the original page in the background. Instead I will use a close button.

Jan 22, 2010I am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work

checkbox called 'yeschk'. This function works as expected for FireFox,
i.e., the 4 widgets (nametext, emailtext, addme, and removeme) disable
or enable immediately when the 'yeschk' checkbox is clicked. But in IE,
this doesn't happen immediately. Instead, the mouse has to be clicked
somewhere else on the page, first. So in IE, to disabled/enable the 4
widgets, I need to click the 'yeschk' checkbox, then click anywhere else
except 'yeschk'. I don't understand why this is, and it is aggravating.
Is there a known trick that I could implement that would cause IE to
enable/disable the 4 widgets immediately on a 'yeschk' click?

disabled is set to "true", it would call a function to disable 2 other text
fields on the form. When disabled is set to "false", it would enable those
2 text fields. You should also be able to get the value of it as if it were
a property:

This works as expected and if it fails to detect Shockwave I tell the user to install Shockwave.The problem comes when AcitveX is disabled as it still returns the same message that it's not installed. I would prefer to be able to include an extra step to detect if ActiveX is disabled, in which case I can tell the user to enable it rather than giving them false advice. My only idea would be to detect for an ActiveX Object that every IE user should have installed.
