Is it possible for Javascript to check if the visitor's browser has enabled the option to print background images, and if not to popup an alert?

I am writing an administration panel for a web site. I want to check if the client's browser javascript enabled and if it is not enabled, a warning DIV comes telling the client to enable javascript and disable the actual page (make the actual page non-usable).

I've seen several sites that use what looks like the alert function (I know it isn't), where the site gets darkened and a popup box (similar to that of the alert one) comes up and displays an image (and only an image)

I'm looking for a JS code that will check the current browser and then use a different background image accordingly.Mainly for browsers like Flock and etc. that aren't yet CSS3 friendly (background-size:cover; etc.)I'm not looking for an alternative to CSS3, because, well, I like it! Just a way to check if the current browser is CSS3 friendly.[EDIT]I just started reading an article about Object Detection ttp://www.quirksmode.org/js/support.html). Seems like a better alternative to browser detection. However, how do I use JS to check if the browser supports a CSS3 statement???

I have been trying all sorts of things, but falling short... I'm trying to set up a way to detect a user's browser size and then call a specific background image accordingly...
say (for example) that BKGD1.jpg is for users who have browsers that are 1280x1024 and higher; BKGD2.jpg is for users who have browsers that are smaller than 1280x1024...
i'm even open to an option that only displays a background image if the browser is (as in the example above) 1280x1024, and just a background color if the browser is smaller than that.

I've copied and customized a script to display a css popup in my little website. The script should display a popup in the middle of the browser window, graying out the background, Everything seems to work fine except that at the end of the script, the page is displayed from the top. This means that if you click on the popup link from a position down in the page, you'll miss it because you will be taken to the top of the page, where you can't see it.
This is the HTML and CSS code:
HTML Code:
And the js:
Code:
I've been debugging with alert boxes and everything seems to be fine until the script ends execution. Then the user is brought again at the top of the page...
In my final site the only thing I would like to show in the popup is a Flash movie.
Do you know any workaround? I would even implement a completely different solution if I knew which...
By the way: At this stage I am using Chrome but I would like my solution to work in any browser, that will the next issue.

I am looking to insert a keyword in to a javascript alert box when someone visits my website, so say they came from codingforums, it would say "Welcome, CodingForums.com Visitor". My keyword will be passed from the ad platform I am working with and shows up correctly in the tracking, so I'd imagine it's just a case of having the snippet of code for it to show in the alert, correct? If there is no keyword, I would just like it to say "Welcome Visitor" or something.

I'm looking for a popunder script that will work for both IE8 and FF3 (as they dominate now). Of course, any other browser is welcome Note: I've also tested the flash but I've excluded it from the start, since the flash player is enabled by default to block them. Also, DHTML is excluded, because the page that will contain the popunder will load itself in a small frame and the popunder's content will display, this way, only in that small frame window (as far as I've tried). I'm really tired of searching and testing; if you know of any working popunder code

I have merged two scripts to make a popup that comes up even if blocked, and is for first time visitor only (cookie). The problem is that the way I'm doing it, it might show one or more times to the visitor. I don't want that because it will be irritating and this is a high-priority client. I'm posting the whole script because I think the problem is calling the popup before checking the cookie, but not sure how to rearrange things.
Also, I did search and found some good dhtml stuff but don't want to rewrite. This was supposed to be done last night so if I can fine tune this for now, I'll have time to rewrite something better (or at least play around with another script). Also, the popup refuses to come up in IE - I have IE6, but I detest IE and their site doesn't even load in it so whatever. I tested in FFox3, Opera 10 and Safari and it seems to work but like I say because of the onclick - it will load at any click until the user goes to a different page. I added a refresh in there but it just made things worse - too much going on for the user at that point.

Is there a script to detect the internet connection speed of the visitor of the website in order to determine if the HTML or the flash content of the site wil be published. This to prevent the visitors to struggle with large flash files en give them the best possible experience. On the other hand to satisfy the need of the fast speed connection owner to get a rich internet experience and to brand my products with trendy content.

I'm putting together a portfolio site and I'd like to use high-res images that take up most of the screen to show different works. There
would be a menu bar with links to each work, where a click on that work's link would change the background by doing a standard "dissolve"
effect.I have seen many different plugins for "rotating" images and changing background colors at the click of a button. Is there a method
specifically for this purpose? As an alternative to altering the background-image of the body itself,I would be willing to use a properly sized div (or div's) to achieve this effect.

I'm looking to kick off a few javascript commands to prepare a document
for being printed, but I really do not want to use a button that calls
a document.print(); just because, well, people in general dont print
using those.
Is is possible to execute javascript when a user choses to "print" the
document? ( and also when the printing is complete)?
