I found this neat looking script which appears very nicely on my site:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex11/abox.htm
I've come to realize today that it doesn't actually have any cookie code so that it only appears once every visitor session, instead in it's current state it appears every page load which is incredibly annoying. I know absolutely nothing on how to write or read javascript, can anyone help to include the cookie code?
I have the following code:

I want the lightbox window open only once a day for every unique visitor on my website. I understand I should use some sort of cookie implented, but I dont really understand how to.
In the past I write the jave script to popup windows in the browser for tell our visitor about news & event but now most of browser will block popup by default. Someone can show me an example about the professional popup with out the block.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work
1. VBScript opens a dropmenu: oPopUp = window.createPopup
2. Then Javascript code in the popup body should hide the popup when certain item has mouseover.
Can javascript hide vbscript popup (within the popup)?
In my application i use window.showmodaldialog() to pop up a window. When i run it in IE pop up blocker wont blocks the window... But when run it in FireFox pop up blocker will blocks the pop up window.. is there any way to open a window with out blocking(avoiding ) by the pop up blocker?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am interested in using a popup to show flash games in it, so I did then my interest went to make all games playable in full screen so I did that too and got success, but I am facing issues due to wmode, if you visit my this site link [URL] and click on play game for other browsers while using google chrome browser, you will see the error there will be blocks appearing in the game, while if click on play for google chrome then this error is not there, its just because of WMODE, for google chrome button I am using wmode while for all other browsers I am not doing this.
The reason for not using wmode to my other browser play button is that if I add wmode to the games then the performance of the game is highly damaged in fireforx and internet explorer, and also to some extent in other browsers including google chrome. It is that I want to get rid of this wmode=opaque thing as it makes the game slow even in google chrome which is effecting game playing quality, I used window,transparent too but nothing good came out of it. Only google chrome is asking for the wmode, while our step child internet explorer is happy with it. Some more information I would like to provide so that things work fast, I am using blogger blog, I have knowledge of html, xhtml, css and for java or jquery its hint and trial.
I need to create an application that will open a popup when the user closes a window. I can do that easily via onUnload event of javascript but the catch is that the popup must open only when we close the window and not when we submit a form or click a link on the page.Actually it is a survey which opens only when one closes the window.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI kinda stuck at this point on my php script, it has this javascript code and I stuck there:
Line 16:
echo("<script language="JavaScript">
function openptc(tpge,pnme,w,h){
settings="width=" + w + ",height=" + h + ",scrollbars=yes,location=no,directories=no,status=1,menubar=no,toolbar=no,resizable=no";
window.open(tpge,pnme,settings);
}
//-->
</script>");
Line 72:
print "<td><a href="#" onClick="openptc('./paidtoclick.php?adid=$row[linkid]&action=start&".session_name()."=".session_id()."','PaidtoClickPage','640','480');"><b>Click Here To View</b></a><tr>";
I think those 2 lines actually are my problem. This code makes the site open in a new pop up window. how to make it open in a new tab.
Can somebody tell me how I can make a popup window appear behind the main browser window by modifying the script below to do this? I would like it so the popup will load but they won't see it until they close the main window.
Code:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!-- Begin
var popupWin
function openWindow() {
popupWin = window.open("http://www.domain.com", 'win', 'menubar=yes,status=no,toolbars=no,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,width=800,height=600')
}
// End -->
</script>
I'm looking for nice solution to handle file downloads. The problem with classic link in <a href="file"> is that in case of missing file, the main browser window is reloaded with 404 error, but I'd like to present to user a popup message without reload of main browser window.

I am trying to make a onblur make something go away. I thouhgt i had this settled before, but then i tried it, and it didnt work, but i cant find the other thread.The onblur is supposed to make the popup menu disapear when it is clicked off

From a parent window, I open two child windows.In the second child, you complete some data, and then it closes the window. I'm trying to figure out how to find and close the first popup window at the same time (as that is used for reference but no action necessary on it).As near as I can tell window.open should let me set a handle that I can then reference later on to close that window (or am I misunderstanding that), but i cannot figure out how to reference that window.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've copied and customized a script to display a css popup in my little website. The script should display a popup in the middle of the browser window, graying out the background, Everything seems to work fine except that at the end of the script, the page is displayed from the top. This means that if you click on the popup link from a position down in the page, you'll miss it because you will be taken to the top of the page, where you can't see it.
This is the HTML and CSS code:
HTML Code:
And the js:

I've been debugging with alert boxes and everything seems to be fine until the script ends execution. Then the user is brought again at the top of the page...
In my final site the only thing I would like to show in the popup is a Flash movie.
Do you know any workaround? I would even implement a completely different solution if I knew which...
By the way: At this stage I am using Chrome but I would like my solution to work in any browser, that will the next issue.
As per the rather long subject, I would like to (well, my boss would like me to...) on a popup have one button to close and another to close but then redirect to another page.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't have a clue what they're called, and I'm only guessing that it's a JavaScript function. But I've seen webpages where you can put your cursor on a word or sentence, and a block of explanatory text pops up.
I think it's frequently used on navigation menus. For example, imagine the following menu:
Home
About
Issues
Directions
Contact
If you place your cursor on the Issues link, a block of text might pop up that says, "From the economy to the environment, learn what the candidates are talking about." If you then click the link, you'll be taken to the Issues page.
Anyway, how can I do this?
I have application A and application B deployed in two different app servers.B is launched in a new browser window when user clicks on a link in A .So application B starts as a popup.the problem I am facing is if I logout in B, automatically A also logouts and vice versa.this may be happening becasue of session merge, when new window is called there any way in java script or jquery to open a new browser window without passing the session information ?
