Simple Email And Phone Number Validation From Form
May 17, 2009I am in need of some very simple javascript to validate email address and a phone number from a form.
The email address only needs to:
1. Check that the box is not empty.
2. Check that the text imputted contains an '@' symbol.
3. Check that the text imputted contains atleast 1 Period.
The phone number only needs to:
1. Check that the box is not empty.
2. Check that there is no more than 11 characters.
3. check that only numeric characters have been inputted.
I would like it to report (failure) back as text on the page under the box that has the problem rather than a window.
Get Form Data Befor Submit - Populate A Simple Table With A Few Text Boxes In There
Oct 25, 2011Im working on a backend panel where i populate a simple table with a few text boxes in there so they can update some values. I also have at the end of every row in the table an Edit, Delete & Save button. When i hit the save button i would like to update that entry in the database.
My Problem is that i need a value from the table before hitting a submit button, and the element names are dynamically created meaning ill likely need a variable sent from php to javascript and once i have the value in javascript ill need to send it back over to the php to manipulate and send to the server.
From wat i can gather using 'document.form.element.value' is the best way to go, hence why i posted this in javascript when most of my code is php.
Text Field Validation For Phone Number?
Jun 25, 2011I have a phone number field on my form that needs validation, but I'm not sure how to code this. I have the following function to validate a first name is entered and last name. The phone number field must match a 7 digit or 10 digit(with area code)phone number. I want to be able to include paranthese and/or hyphens for the valid phone number.

Phone Number Validation In Existing Form?
Jun 20, 2011Another newbie question here, I'm sure. I'm trying to modify an existing form with an existing validation scheme. I have to put in something so that the phone field that is entered actually contains numbers. There is no need for dashes, parens or any other divider, but we don't want to exclude them either.
I have gotten as far as this: [URL]..110620_1a.html (new isPhone function that doesn't break anything added at lines 119 - 127) When I try to add the call for the checking however, the entire checking scheme breaks, and the form just executes: [URL]...._110620_1.html (Added code is at lines 190-198)

what would be the best way to check that the email or phone nummber had been entered?? will not send if nothing enetered, but will send if one or both have been enetered?

Simple Error Handling For Form - Avoid Alert Boxes?
Jul 21, 2011I was trying to create JavaScript error handling for a form, and I was trying to get an error message to show up underneath the field where there was an error. (I am trying to avoid alert boxes.) I only have two fields, and my problem is that only one field is showing an error message. If I place an error in the input for the second field, the error shows up under the first field. How can I get the error messages to show up under the correct form field?

Simple Form Validation
Oct 15, 2005I've been playing with this form validation method for a while and have
tried an array of things but haven't had any luck with a couple items.
1. The validateForm() function doesn't detect when the Min price is
greater than the maximum price.
2. The validateForm() function doesn't call isNumber() on the minBaths,
maxBaths, minBeds, or maxBeds.
3. Despite errors in input and the validateForm() function returning
false, the form is still submitted.

The problem is all the error messages appear in one div together and I would like to have each field have its own div containing only its own error.

Jan 15, 2005I've been ask to produce a new upload form that can allow multiple files to be uploaded with each article i was thinking of adding an upload form field than when text is added to the text field an extra file name description and upload text box would appear on the page via javascript.
So the more files that add to the form the more dynamically produced form text boxes are added, i have been looking to find if this could be done or what way is better, if anyone could help with telling where to look or how to dynamically produce more text areas. Or could you let me know another solutions to this.
I have seen it work on my mobile when added new contacts, you type in mobile number and then the home text box appears below it, then you type in home number and then the work text box appears. etc..

Simple Form Dropdown That Opens A Text Input?
Dec 23, 2010Been racking my brain all day trying to figure out how to duplicate this code with the limited javascript knowledge I have been trying to learn.This code is a Dropdown menu of Yes or No, than a Select button that Opens up a Text Input directly below the dropdown. So far, It works great. My problem is I need at least two of these on the same page and I do not know how to go about it.
